How do I increase the fd limit on OS X?
Hi All, I just upgraded to the new 1.1rc5 from 1.0 that I had been using and it advised me to increase the file descriptor limit. I'm not sure how to do this. There is a command built into tcsh that allows me to do this called limit, but sudo limit 4224 doesn't work, and usually dovecot is started from the rc.local file if I recall right, and I'm not sure how to set this up from

mount type and ensure => present on OS X
Hello all. There is some strange thing going on with our OS X clients. We have created a package which is run via SystemStarter. What it does? It parses /etc/fstab and mounts the NFS directories mentioned there. This is needed since we want to have static mounts and the NetInfo-automounter combination does not do static mounts (even with ttl=0 set for the mount, which is supposed to do a

[OT] Starting Mongrel on Mac: Launchd or Crontab?
I have some Rails apps I use on my Mac to do brutally stupid stuff like track time and activities. They''re always running, but each time I restart, I (duh) have to restart the Mongrels. Well, I know better than that, right? So I dug around in Google to find out how people are getting Mongrels started using Launchd. There are some detailed posts, but none of them seemed to work. My

[LLVMdev] RFC: Proposal for Poison Semantics
Having though about this some more I think optimizing (x+1 > x) <=> true and at the same time modeling undefined behavior as a posion value is impossible. This is because we also want the following rule: (x > INT_MAX) <=> false Now if poison is a value, then the second replacement tells us (poison > INT_MAX) == false which contradicts the first rule. The only way out of

nut on Mac OS X. Where to put upsdrvctl shutdown?
I've installed nut on a Mac OS X machine (XServe running Mac OS X 10.3.9). It all seems to work fine except..... I can't figure out where to put the upsdrvctl shutdown command in order to get the ups to cut power after the computer shuts down. There doesn't seem to be any sort of script that gets run at shutdown time. Has anyone successful done this under Mac OS X? Can you

[LLVMdev] RFC: Proposal for Poison Semantics
One way around this is to say that there are some special instructions, icmp, sext and zext which produce a value solely composed of poison bits if any of their input bits is poison. So `<poison> icmp X` is poison for any value of X, including INT_MAX. This is one way poison could be fundamentally different from undef. -- Sanjoy On Thu, Jan 29, 2015 at 8:05 PM, Matthias Braun <matze at

[LLVMdev] RFC: Proposal for Poison Semantics
But (Poison > INT_MAX) <=> poison contradicts (X > INT_MAX) <=> false and I don't think you want to abandon the second rule just because x might be poison. - Matthias > On Jan 29, 2015, at 9:43 PM, Sanjoy Das <sanjoy at playingwithpointers.com> wrote: > > One way around this is to say that there are some special > instructions, icmp, sext and zext which

Aggregation elements
Howdy, Is there a method to get the number of elements in an aggregation? Are the results stored in an aggregation guaranteed to be in any type of order? Thanks for any insight, - Ryan -- UNIX Administrator http://daemons.net/~matty

Setting up Subdomains as Account Keys Under Mac OS X
I''m trying to configure my Rails app to use the subdomain as the account key. I''ve followed along with the HowTo [1], but under Mac OS X (10.4.3) I cannot get sub.domain.mine to map to 127.0.0.1. I''ve modified /etc/hosts as explained in "Dynamic Vhosts Working" [2], but I do not want to use Apache ... I''m using Webrick for development. Since this is

Maybe we could define poison in such a way that it is safe to pretend it "is" false, as per our

Solaris 10 Jumpstart instructions on the wiki now
Not that I''m much of a Solaris guy, and definitely not a Solaris 10 guy, but since nobody else had posted anything yet: http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/PuppetSolaris#Solaris10 The good news is that it appears to be a completely hands-off puppetd installation. Just sign the client key afterwards on the puppetmaster and you''re set. The bad news is that it''s

[LLVMdev] RFC: Proposal for Poison Semantics
Here's an idea for a slightly unusual framework for poison semantics: we do it in two steps -- 1. for every bit in the program, we define a second "shadow bit", is-poison. We define the semantics of LLVM IR using this is-poison relation. So, for instance, we could say if there is a bit 'b'in address 'a' such that if is-poison['b'], then "store X to

Apple iMac OS X 10.13.5 | Powershield Defender 1200 UPS
I got my USB ups reporting on macOS, but it was quite a while ago, I’ll have to dig into how I did it.. I do remember is wasn’t simple.. ( actually is was long drawn out pain in the …. ) Maybe search for posts from me, I’ll check what I did on the weekend and get back to you.. Or, buy an APC.. as they will just appear in Energy Saver.. > On 6 Jun 2018, at 15:41, Charles Lepple

Script for Stackdepth by Thread/LWP?
I''m interested in monitoring the amount of stack used by a multi-threaded program. I assume ''stackdepth'' built-in would be useful...but not sure. Been through demo''s, ToolKit, and internals..but it''s just not clicking for me yet. Not sure how to measure start/end of stack size dynamically...Anyone know how to break this down?
