multicast over GRE tunnel
I need to send multicast traffic through a GRE tunnel between two Linux
routers. The tunnel works for normal IP packets, but I can''t see how to
make it work for multicast. Here''s the setup:

fxp multicast forwarding problems
Hi,
Whilst doing some QA work on XORP on my desktop, which has fxp0 and
msk0, fxp0 got totally hosed.
I was running PIM-SM and IGMPv2 router-mode on the box at the time.
I wonder if this is related to the problems with fxp multicast
transmission I saw back in April.
I'm a bit concerned about this as fxp is still a very widespread and
useful network chip.
I am running

SYN Attacks - how i cant stop it
Hi,
I got this error when i tried to type for some of those.
"sysctl: unknown oid...." any idea..
my server seems to be very lagged, where else
the network connection seems fine, i think BSD
itself as my other redhat box is fine.
What else can i do to get optimum protection.
Thanks.

UDP multicast stream and NAT
Hi, my ISP is streaming some local concert using UDP
multicasting. I followed the instructions on the site which
described how to set VLC in order to view the stream, but
it didn''t work. I am behind a Linux router/firewall doing
NAT. Using google, I quickly found out that the
netfilter/conntrack code doesn''t support NATing multicast
traffic. I thought about bridging the internet

masc and multicast
I am trying to set up my Shorewall box to forward multicast packets to
my local net. I do have some problems with mrouted (see below), but I
can join and add routes using smcroute. Multicast works when shorewall
is disabled. I got a lot of help from the following.
http://lists.shorewall.net/pipermail/shorewall-users/2005-January/016674.html
I cannot get the multicast packets to pass the fw when

Multicast routing
How do the Multicast routers sniff IGMP/MLD messages from the network?
I checked the XORP, pimd etc. Most of them just open a RAW socket with
protocol set to IPPROTO_IGMP. But using this the router gets the
packets addressed to 224.0.0.1 only.
How does it receive IGMPv2 and IGMPv3 membership reports sent by other hosts?
Thanks,
Sachin

Cluster: understanding virtual IP
Hi folks,
I have set up a cluster on CentOS 5.2 using /etc/cluster/cluster.conf - and
it works fine. It's only purpose is to switch a virtual IP between two
routers.
Now the service is running, I can ping the virtual IP from outside - but
this virtual IP is not bound to any interface. How does this work? Can I
force the cluster to bind it to a certain interface?
I need this because the

RE: building a multicast router: RESOLUTION
well, once i figured out what to do it was easy.
1) install freebsd over linux.
2) recompile kernel with: option MROUTING
3) start mrouted
4) go get yourself a cold beer. you deserve it!
thanks!

multicast NAT
I have a standard 3 interface shorewall setup and I want to receive
multicast stuff from ''net'' -> ''loc''. This requires me, first, to do an
IGMP join which involves 192.168.1.x -> 224.0.0.x being NATed out as the
''net'' interface''s IP address. Obviously replies have to be NATed back to
''loc'' addresses.

building a multicast router
Hi,
I have been reading: http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.multicast.html in effort
to understand how to route multicast traffic and just joined the group.
History: I am trying to multicast mpeg (using the videolan server) on a
private network. The server side of the network is copper gigabit, which
connects to one of those cheap fast Ethernet switches with a single gigabit
uplink. The problem

Multicast routing with multiple routers problem
Hi,
I have problem with multicast routing on my network. I tried mrouted and
also pimd, but always same problem. When I set mrouted or pimd on one
router, everything works fine, but when I start mrouted/pimd on another
one, routing die. In moment when I start anorher mrouted/pimd
/proc/net/ip_mr_cache is cleaned.
My topology:

Lots of udp (multicast) packet loss in domU
Hello,
After a few of us have spent a week google''ing around for answers, I feel compelled to ask this question: how do I stop packet loss between my dom0 and domU? We are currently running a xen-3.3.0 (and have tried with xen-3.2.1) on a Gentoo system with 2.6.18 kernel for both domU and dom0. We have also tried a 2.6.25 kernel for dom0 with exactly the same results.
The goal is to

Multicast and Router mode
Hi,
I have seen http://www.tinc-vpn.org/pipermail/tinc-devel/2010-October/000473.html
and so tried out for myself to see if multicast would work in tinc
using routing mode. I'm using tinc 1.0.19. My test involved sending a
ping out on 224.1.1.1 (as 224.0.0.0/24 is a special case), and while I
could see the traffic reaching the other tinc daemons, it never seemed
to go out to the local

Multicast (ICMP6 router solicitation) flood
Hello,
I am a happy user of tinc in multiple environments. It is beautiful - thank you!
Today I noticed that a network of around 20 nodes suffered from a flood of
packages like the following:
IP6 fe80::e4eb:74b6:57e0:c3e1 > ff02::2: ICMP6, router solicitation, length 8
For the first ten hours these nodes (even the usually completely idle ones) have
seen incoming traffic of around 1 MBit/s

[LLVMdev] Duplicate loading of double constants
Hi,
I found that in some cases llvm generates duplicate loads of double
constants,
e.g.
$ cat t.c
double f(double* p, int n)
{
double s = 0;
if (n)
s += *p;
return s;
}
$ clang -S -O3 t.c -o -
