Determining burst/cburst HTB values
Hello. I am wondering if the default (auto-computed) burst and cburst parameters are appropriate values for my application. I have a 100 mbit interface which is connected to a 16 mbit uplink. I am sharing this bandwidth into a set of partitions (tc classes) defined as follows: root class [1:1] |

QoS HTB burst and cburst parameters-FLEX
All: Does anyone know what the burst and cburst parameter do? My understanding so far: * I see a lot of different definitions on the web. It seems like burst is the number of bytes sent before serving other queues/classes. So if burst was 1000 bytes and class rate was 100kibit per second. It would send 1000 bytes each time the scheduler service that queue to a rate of 100 kbit per

Does HTB consider PRIO or not?
Hello LARTC!!!! There is a question that kills me everytime I think about it. I just love HTB and for one year since I started to work wih it I had no complains until one day. One client needs to allocate the shared bandwith , based on priorities. The HTB as everybody knows have the CEIL parameter and also PRIO which are supposed to solve the problem. Now the problem: I configure everything, rate

HTB shares equally when borrowing enabled :(
Hi, I''m fighting seriously with a most simple HTB setup. I''d like to share the incoming 64kbps into 5 and 59 for two different machines under NAT. HTB seems to hold the required limits when ceil is not set (no borrowing), but when borrowing enabled it seems to share equally rather then keeping the specified ratio. My setup is below. A typical output of "tc -s -d qdisc

couldn''t get available bandwith
Hello all. We have three tunnels over the internet between our "central" gateway and some branch office gateway. Each gateway has eth0 on its LAN an eth1 on the internet. We use DSL lines and eth1''s have the internet IP directly attached on it. Each gateway, also, acts as iptables NAT gateway. The outgoing bandwith is 300 kbit, and we tried this (i.e.) on each tunnel: tc

HTB burst/cburst decremented by one
Hi all :) If I set the burst/cburst parameter to, let''s say, 1500, the command "tc -s -d class show dev eth0" says that the value is 1499b/8 instead of the (correct?) 1500b/8. Is this right or am I doing anything wrong? Many thanks in advance :) Raúl Núñez de Arenas Coronado -- Linux Registered User 88736 | http://www.dervishd.net http://www.pleyades.net

Re:Does HTB consider PRIO or not? 2
Thanks for quick reply Andreas! > Every class is allowed to use bandwidth as long as it does not have to > borrow (the specified rate is guaranteed). Prio in HTB only affects > borrowing bandwidth from other classes... In the example below, the class > 1:5 should be allowed to borrow bandwidth before 1:14 does. Thats exactly what I want from HTB to do..to prio the borrowed bandwidth.

ceil, cburst, prio not working?
Hi, I''ve been using htb fine to separate outgoing SMTP traffic from HTTP traffic so sending big emails doesn''t affect browsing. As long as ceil == burst and the sum of all rates don''t exceed the root class'' rate all is fine but when I incorporate ceil I would expect (from lartc howto) that when other classes are idle the remaining bandwith would be assigned

Latency/burst problem with HTB
Hi all :) I''m new to this list, as I''m new too to traffic shaping ;) I''ve set up an FTP server in my ADSL line and I wanted it to serve as fast as possible as long as I don''t use my outgoing ADSL bandwidth, and I''m currently using HTB for that (succesfully, I must add). The problem is (when the FTP server is serving higher than its

BURST and CBURTS on HTB.init 8.3
why the exemple in the htb.init of the BURST e CBURST comes with values if the dafault is computed? Is it better to put these values manualy? How can I calculate the values?

htb root don''t reach ceil rate?
Hello, i have a htb setup where the root and (nearly) all child classes has a ceil rate with max up from my adsl line. But the root class don''t reach the ceil value but some childs are get a huge backlog. My setup: (tc -d class show dev ppp0) [cleaned a bit] ******************************************************** class htb 1:1 root rate 576000bit ceil 576000bit burst 30Kb/8 cburst

A and B have immovability bandwith
hi,Stef: I read your burst test,I have some questions remain. A and B have immovability bandwith: If I bound bandwith to machine A and B,in order to it have 4Mbps,the other machine B have 6Mbps,(I have 10Mbps total). between them no permit bend from each other. whether burst cburst tokens ctokens value is zero. it''s right? --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!?

A HTB problem
My hardware is a Linksys AP with MIPS 300MHz and Linux kernel 2.4.20. The traffics are from two LAN switch ports to WAN port. And the traffics are generate at a rate of 80Mbit. So the total traffic to WAN port is 160Mbit. The shaping works well that the traffic to WAN port is about 50/30Mbit according to configuration. But the priority seems strange when the root rate is 50Mbit. When the root

Performance Loss with HTB/tcng?
Hi, I try to shape my incoming traffic. I have 2MBit/s DSL bandwith and the following ruleset (on the internal interface): $INT="eth1"; $INT_NET=192.168.1.0; $MAX_IN=2Mbps; dev $INT { egress { class (<$int>) if ip_src:24 == $INT_NET; class (<$ssh>) if tcp_sport == PORT_SSH; class (<$smtp>) if tcp_sport == PORT_SMTP; class (<$http>) if

HTB qdisc within HTB root qdisc
Hello... Im trying to setup HTB to allow me to shape traffic from two upstreams that meets on single lan0 interface. I prefer to use HTB qdisc within HTB root qdisc for cleaner rules design. Seems that it doesnt work at all. tc -s class show doesnt show any traffic on other classes attached to HTB qdisc. Linux 2.6.20.7 iproute-2.6.20-070313 Weird thing is that tc -s class show that 1: and 2:

HTB prio question
Hi all. I have a bridge running Linux 2.4.24 that I use as a bandwidth manager on a broadband wireless network. I''m using HTB and SFQ to prioritize that share bandwidth on a per-cell basis. My IP tables rules divide the traffic based on IPand traffic type (using layer-7 filter and ipp2p). My goal is to make sure that p2p traffic on the network doesn''t sink all of the

htb quantum/r2q problem/question
hello, i have a config that is with a large domain of rate, from 2kb to 40Mb and i have some problems with i don''t know how to deal with. so here are some classes 2 with q=1000, one with q 200000 and one with q=6400, all have been calculated by htb, in the code i speficien just rate, ceil, no quantum, no r2q, no bursts ($tc class add $IF_INT parent 1:2 classid 1:21 htb rate
