Apache Re-Write and Directories
Howdy, I am using the ''default'' Apache 2.2 mod_rewrite rules suggested from the Web site and they are working. One thing related to static (non cluster directed) resources: If I have a directory in public called ''static'', if I request it as follows: http://www.domain.com/static/ - then it works If I request it as: http://www.domain.com/static - then it

Rewrite problem or routing issue?
I''m not able to access anything in public, everything seems to be going through the rails router. As a result, I can''t get to stylesheets or javascript. I''m not quite clear if this is a .htaccess problem, or a router problem. I eliminated the "catchall" route, so the last route is map.connect '':controller/:action/:id'' My .htaccess file

Apache config: Two different rails apps using same domain name (mod_rewrite issue)
The problem I''m solving here is that I have two different Rails applicatons that uses the same domain name. One handles the www (e.g. www.mycoolapp.com) and is used as the main site, and the other handles the user subdomains (e.g.. someuser.mycoolapp.com). The DNS stuff and the Apache virtual hosts were all set up, the two rails apps are in place in the file system, and the proper

Resolved problem with Apache Load Balancer Manager
Had to make a couple of changes to the config from the mongrel site to get the load balancer manager working: changed # Redirect all non-static requests to cluster RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/%{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^/(.*)$ balancer://mongrel_cluster%{REQUEST_URI} [P,QSA,L] to # Redirect all non-static requests to cluster RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/%{REQUEST_FILENAME}

mod_rewrite issue
I'm installing Drupal 6.2 in the document root of a CentOS 5 install using httpd-2.2.3-11.el5_1. I'm using a virtual host entry with the following rewrite rule to enable "clean" URLs: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [R,L,QSA] This works fine expect the user still sees the "ugly" URL in the address bar. However, if I remove the R, it breaks completely. Any clues? I

trying to add another app
hey all, I have an app working great with apache2 and mongrel_cluster. However, I''m trying to run another application and now when I go to app1.comit falls to app2.com and the opposite. That''s probably because I messed up somewhere with the cluster. this is the content of my conf.d/app1.proxy_cluster.conf: <Proxy balancer://mongrel_cluster> BalancerMember

Modifying Apache Conf To Block Leachers
Howdy, I''m using Apache 2.2 + Mongrel with great success, using the sample configs from the Mongrel site. We have some MP3s on the site and recently someone has been stealing them and basically leaching them from the site, linking to them from an off-site location. I''ve been trying to modify my Apache conf to check the referrer and adjust accordingly as below but no

mongrel cluster (+ Apache 2.2.4 + proxy balancer) not redirecting correctly
I''m in the process of setting up a mongrel cluster at the moment, and I''m running into a bit of an issue. Even worse is that I''m not sure whether this is a mongrel thing, or an Apache thing. While I''m inclined to think that this might be a balancer thing, I decided there was a higher chance hearing back from mongrel-users than from apache-users, so I''d

Does mongrel look at the Rails page cache?
Hi all. I''m trying to skip the Rails page cache if the user is logged in: --- # Rewrite index to check for static RewriteCond %{HTTP_COOKIE} !^.*logged_in=yes.*$ RewriteRule ^/$ /index.html [QSA] # Rewrite to check for Rails cached page RewriteCond %{HTTP_COOKIE} !^.*logged_in=yes.*$ RewriteRule ^([^.]+)$ $1.html [QSA] # Redirect all non-static requests to cluster RewriteCond

Lost while trying to deploy rails app on apache
I need to graft some rails apps onto a website running apache 1.3 and I must be missing something very obvious because I cannot get things working properly. Here is what I need: 1) The server must be running apache 1.3. A very large body of PHP content is currently vended by the server through 5 vhosts and I have neither the time nor resources to replace apache1 with apache2 or lighttpd. Maybe

Authentication between Instiki and Mailman Solved!
Basically, we needed to authenticate against the cookie written by Ruby. It turns out that you can write a cookie for the entire TLD of *.example.com from Instiki (Rails). So, I changed the cookie writing code in the wiki_controller to the following. # app/controllers/wiki_controller.rb cookies[''ldap_username_2006''] = {:value =>emailaddress, :expires

Expert feedback needed
Hello list, Some time ago I was looking for apache (as non balanced proxy) + mongrel configurations. Almost everybody seemed to use similar approaches (one of these could be found @ mongrel.rubygorge.org docs) with mod_rewrite. I don''t use proxy_balancer because I don''t need it at the moment (my site has pretty low traffic). This is apache configuration that I''m using
