ifb and ppp
Hello!
My goal is to setup an ingress traffic shaping on my PPPOE DSL line with ifb.
My old imq stuff used iptables marks (like ''iptables -t mangle -A
PREROUTING -p tcp --sport 22 -m length --length :500 -j MARK --set-mark 31'')
to classify the traffic and since i am lazy, i tried to to reuse them with
ifb. But no luck: iptables marks the packets well, but tc

Shaping incoming VoIP traffic fails
Hello,
I''m trying to get lossless VoIP traffic over my 3000k/500k ADSL line. Shaping
outgoing traffic is no problem: I set total ceil for outgiong device (ppp0)
to 450kbit and put VoIP into highest prio class. Even during full upload the
voice is clean on the other end.
Now I tried to get the same result for incoming data. I attached HTB to eth1
where the incoming voip traffic is

tc not matching
Dear all,
I''m having real problems getting tc to do anything useful at all. I''m
also under pressure to get this fixed before the students start arriving
later this month (I work in a university).
In short, I want each IP address to be hard limited to 128kbit down,
64kbit up, never to be allowed more bandwidth than this. It is also
important that the latency remains

Low-priority traffic
Hello,
I''m a total tc newbie, and I''m trying to tweak the wondershaper script
(http://lartc.org/wondershaper/) to get a slightly different result.
Excuse me if I will not use the correct technical terms, it''s a whole
new world to me :)
wondershaper.htb creates 3 HTB classes; 1:10 is high prio, 1:20 is bulk
(default), and 1:30 is low priority. The classes are

Why my script doesn''t work ???
Hi All,
I''m using iptables-1.2.7a on RedHat8 kernel 2.4.20.
I wanted to limit the file-sharing traffic to the internet.
I marked the packets with iptables:
iptables -A FORWARD -t mangle -p tcp -s 192.168.1.1/24 -d !
192.168.1.1/24 --dport 1024:1862 -j MARK --set-mark 1
iptables -A FORWARD -t mangle -p tcp -s 192.168.1.1/24 -d !

htb limiting trouble: no overlimit or dropped packets
Hi!
I''m trying to limit the uplink bandwidth using htb but no packets are
overlimit or dropped. :-(
My router config:
* Linux kernel 2.4.20-pre10 (htb v3.7) with everything built as
modules in QoS, iptables in use.
* tc binary from htb3.6-020525.tgz
* external interface eth0: Internet access, 512 kbit/s uplink speed
* internal interface eth1: internal LAN, 100 Mbit/s

Adding qdiscs crashes kernel??
Hi all,
I''m having some problems setting up qdiscs on a bridge. The config looks
a little like this:
ifconfig ifb0 up # Bring up the IFB for this bridge.
tc qdisc add dev eth2 ingress
tc qdisc add dev eth3 ingress
tc qdisc add dev ifb0 root handle 1:0 cbq bandwidth 100Mbit avpkt 1000

# Raw qdiscs on each bridge port
tc qdisc add dev eth2 root handle 1:0 cbq bandwidth

wondershaper query
Hello,
I am trying wondershaper-1.1a on a friend''s pppoe connection on her
Linux box.
There are a few things I don''t understand.
1. She has pppoe connection so should DEV=eth0 or DEV=ppp0 ?
2. Her ISP just says on her payment bill that the speed is 128kbps, but
doesn''t mention any downlink/uplink speed, so in that case what should
be,
DOWNLINK= and UPLINK= ?

Fw: wondershaper kills eth0 :(
Hi,
When i do ''wshaper start'' the interface i have defined stops routing
traffic for some reason. It resumes routing when i do ''wshaper stop''.
I''m using debian stable (3.0 woody) with debian''s default 2.4.18-686
kernel.
When I run the script I get no errors, and when I do a ''status'',
everything looks correct.

questions about HFSC, VoIP and (dynamic) ingress shaping
Hello,
I just found the great howto and started shaping my internet connection. The
howto''s last update is a liitle in the past now so I have some questions
about how things are done the best way nowadays ;-)
To ensure a stable and low latency voip communication I added an HFSC qdisc to
device ppp0 (1 Mbit SDSL). There are two classes (by now): One for SIP and
RTP and one for the

Looking for a good htb traffic shaping script to prioritize incoming traffic
I am looking for a good htb traffic shaping script to prioritize incoming
traffic over outgoing traffic for my machine. I have a 100mbit line, ftp
up, backup data comming in, but whenever mirrors starts grabbing it they use
all the traffic and the backup data comming in (the important data) drops to
like 300kb/sec. I was thinking some script doing

Shaping incoming traffic on the other interface
Hi,
I have a typical configuration for my firewall/gateway box: single network card, with a pppoe
connection to the DSL modem.
I''m already successfully shaping the uplink (how come that the wondershaper.htb doesn''t use the ceil
parameter? It should implement bandwidth borrowing!) but i found the ingress policy a little bit rough.
I''d like to keep the traffic categories

modprobe ifb
I''m trying to set up a traffic control on ingress attaching a egress qdisc to
the ifb device. The idea is to use a RED algorithm instead of policing
the incoming traffic. After trying with tc-red and not obtaining the
expected results, I decided to try with something easier, and use htb
as bottleneck:
ifconfig ifb0 up
tc qdisc del dev $dev ingress
tc qdisc del dev ifb0 root
tc qdisc add

2.6.14 - HTB/SFQ QoS broken?
Hello,
First of all, I already contacted Martin Devera, the developer of HTB, and
he told me to search for help on this mailinglist, thus I am describing
my problems here now...
I am kind of seriously annoyed by QoS as I have been trying for over 3 years
to get it working properly - first I did not understand how it works, then
it seemed not to work, then it was working perfectly for half a

wondershaper htb + multiple ports
Is there a way to apply wondershaper w/ htb to a port range?
I have a ftp server on port 65432 and passive ports 50000-60000.
Is there a way to set a range? or do they have to be individually
listed?
The following doesnt seem to work:
# low priority source ports
NOPRIOPORTSRC=65432, 50000:60000
# low priority destination ports
NOPRIOPORTDST=

Shaping per IP in PPPoE borrowing or sharing Uplink or Downlink
helo again. I think this question i am asking is worth:
we know that pppoe-server creates a pppX device on each connection done
to it.
So, when i have to shape, i have to shape each pppX connection device on
itself alone.
What i know is that the borrowing method on one device by itself, e.g.
ppp0, alone using HTB or the like. this means that i have to create for
another device, e.g. ppp1,
