traffic shaping stranges
Hello list,
I discover strange behaviour of shaping traffic that i setup from
Shorewall-4.0.2.
I know that this is not Shorewall problem but may be somebody from list
can help me
or explain this situation.
I have follow interfaces in 'tcdevices' files:

rsync failing with return code 13
Hi there,
I'm running rsync on an nslu2 (using nslu2-linux) and it keeps failing
with return code 13. The man page doesn't give a good description of
what this means ("Errors with program diagnostics") so could someone
give me a clue. as to what diagnostics rsync is running and reasons why
they might be failing? The only magic to note is the machine only has
32MB of ram so low

two interfaces - borrowing bandwidth...
Hello...
I have one 2Mbit WAN interfaces and two vlan LAN interfaces - vlan2 and
vlan3. I''d like to limit bandwidth something like this:
rate 1Mbit ceil 2Mbit for vlan2 and
rate 1Mbit ceil 2Mbit for vlan3
with possibility to borrow bandwidth between vlan2 and vlan3.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Is it possible to do in any way?
regards,

hosted VMs, VLANs, and firewalld
I'm looking for some information regarding the interaction of KVM,
VLANs, firewalld, and the kernel's forwarding configuration. I would
appreciate input especially from anyone already running a similar
configuration in production. In short, I'm trying to figure out if
a current configuration is inadvertently opening up traffic across
network segments.

VLAN martians
I''m playing around with VLAN''s and I have a VLAN capable (layer 2) smart
switch. I see a steady stream of martians in the logfile if I have the
routefilter option set on the loc zone interfaces in
/etc/shorewall/interfaces. I have two interfaces in the loc zone, eth1
and vlan2 respectively. vlan2 is an 802.1q trunk going towards the switch.
Is this the expected behavior in

memory leaks resolved?
I think I may have fixed my memory leaks, and it may be that it was
nothing to do with xen... the machine has been up for 10 days now which
is the longest it has lasted in quite a while.
I changed the way the bridges and vlans worked together, previously I
had it configured thus:
trunk = renamed Ethernet interface
br0 = bridge of trunk and any domU I wanted on vlan1
br0.2 = vlan 2 on trunk
br1 =

On a purely subjective note: I think that's a bad design. One of the
primary benefits of virtualization and other containers is isolating the
applications you run from the base OS. Putting services other

VLAN issue
Thank you everyone.
OK, the mystery deepens, I guess. The machine does need to support several
VLAN's, it is currently on a trunkport (8021q encapsulated), it made it
into the ARP table - which I specifically tested for by physically
unplugging the table, clearing the ARP table and plugging it back in.
The ARP table currently looks like this:
hq#show arp

VLAN issue
OK, thanks again for all your help.
I have resolved this, finally. The problem was that I configured VLAN 48 as
the native VLAN on the trunk port. That was a mistake as apparently the
native VLAN is the one where Cisco does not bother to tag packets.
For now I set the native VLAN to VLAN 1 and that works.
Cheers,
Boris.
