httpd reverse proxy
I am trying to figure this out and I always seem to have trouble
configuring apache to do more than basic stuff...
I have a web server that has several cnames assigned to it.
I want srv1.tobyhouse.com to be served by apache.
I want to proxy connections to www.tobyhouse.com to cms.tobyhouse.com
(different system)
If I do this...
<VirtualHost www.tobyhouse.com:*>

Apache Redirects...
I'm trying to require SSL for drupal login and admin pages and it seems
that this should work but it doesn't redirect if added to httpd.conf or
to .htaccess (I've tried both)
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(user|admin)
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{SERVER_NAME}/$1 [L,R]
Shouldn't this be enough so that the URL...(googling suggests that it
is)

apache virtual host
I don't ever do this...
Shouldn't this be enough to set up a virtual server in apache?
I did create an entry in /etc/hosts and in dns for this fqdn
it still gives me the contents of /var/www/html and
not /home/craig/ruby-db/th-db/public
<VirtualHost *>
DocumentRoot "/home/craig/ruby-db/th-db/public"

error message in smbd.log file: bind failed on port 139 socket_addr = 0.0.0.0.
I can run nmbd successfully, but smbd dies almost immediately when I run
it, the smbd.log file has the message "bind failed on port 139
socket_addr = 0.0.0.0.". When I do a netstat -an | grep 139, it shows
that tcp is listening on port 139. How do I resolve this conflict
between tcp and smbd?

Should there be a process listening on port 135?
I'm running samba 4.1.2 on Linux Mint 15. Getting the following:
?
./samba-tool drs kcc samba-realm
Failed to connect host 192.168.231.132 on port 135 - NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED
Failed to connect host 192.168.231.132 (samba-realm) on port 135 - NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED.
I don't see samba or smbd listening on port 135. 53 and 137 are. e.g.:

Fwd: Samba broken after 4.8 upgrade
Hello,
Today I tried to upgrade to samba 4.8.0, the upgrade seems to have failed,
and I can't seem to fix it or back out. The issue seems to be I've lost
the some KRB tickets. Here's and example of the errors i get:
samba-tool domain exportkeytab /tmp/test2
samba_kdc_fetch: could not find own KRBTGT in DB: dsdb_search at

I've done something a while back that has messed with my named.conf and
prevents me from restarting named service normally...
My problem...
# service named restart
Stopping named: [FAILED]
Starting named: named: already running [FAILED]
nothing gets logged in /var/log/messages
obviously, I can do this to restart it...

Samba 4.8 RODC not working
I think you missed these in the firewall, if you allowed the "in" for the DC, you also need the OUT.

Samba 4.1.6 + RPC Problem + DNS + RSAT
Hy everybody,
I have a little problem. Since a crash of my server we have problems to connect over the RSAT tools to our Samba 4 domain with the DNS tool.
At the moment we have a Centos 6.5 server with Version 4.1.6-SerNet-RedHat-7.el6.
If I connect to the AD server with the RSAT tool, i get this message in the log.smb:
dnsserver: Found DNS zone _msdcs.nagy-blumen.at

Thanks for getting back to me. I managed to restore my domain from a

ShieldsUp scan
Hi,
I''m a home user who doesn''t understand the workings of the Shorewall
firewall (or the linux OS on which I''ve just installed it) very well.
Having just installed Shorewall 1.4.6c with a default "home user"
configuration I gave it a run against the online ShieldsUp scan.
Main surprise was that the ICMP echo was enabled. I''ve since gone into

i'd just change the default sip port for * in sip.conf

bindaddr = 0.0.0.0 ; Address to bind to (all addresses on machine)

Starting Dovecot?
Hello!
I have laid SSL aside for the time being, and continued compiling and
installing Dovecot.
Now I don't know how to start it! I have been through the config file and
mostly left things as-is.
I have created the dovecot user and group and put only dovecot user in the
dovecot group.
Then I tried imap-master, as specified in the INSTALL documentation, but
there is no such file!
