Does HTB consider PRIO or not?
Hello LARTC!!!!
There is a question that kills me everytime I think about it. I just love HTB and for one year since I started to work wih it I had no complains until one day. One client needs to allocate the shared bandwith , based on priorities. The HTB as everybody knows have the CEIL parameter and also PRIO which are supposed to solve the problem. Now the problem: I configure everything, rate

HTB qdisc within HTB root qdisc
Hello...
Im trying to setup HTB to allow me to shape traffic from two upstreams
that meets on single lan0 interface. I prefer to use HTB qdisc
within HTB root qdisc for cleaner rules design.
Seems that it doesnt work at all. tc -s class show doesnt
show any traffic on other classes attached to HTB qdisc.
Linux 2.6.20.7
iproute-2.6.20-070313
Weird thing is that tc -s class show that 1: and 2:

Thanks for quick reply Andreas!

Thats exactly what I want from HTB to do..to prio the borrowed bandwidth.

IFB0 throughput 3-4% lower than expected
I have two boxes for the purpose of testing traffic control and
my knowledge thereof (which is at the inkling stage). The boxes are
connected by 100Mbit ethernet cards via a switch.
For egress traffic via eth0 I achieve a throughput that is close to the
specified CEILing, particularly for values above 1mbit. Ingress traffic
does not seem so well behaved. Above about 1mbit rates achieved are

HTB, strange capacity distribution
Hello,
after spending several hours reading archives, I decided to write new
post.
I successfully set up packet classification, made some basic HTB
setup, made some simple graphical representation from HTB statistics
data...
BUT, I cannot figure out how to refine HTB to get this behaviour:
I need that class "p2p" should be the last one to get some link
capacity.
If I set both RATE

htb: rate bigger then ceil
Hi,
we have upgraded a gateway machine for our network and suddenly
shaping doesn''t work as it used to. Before the upgrade the traffic was
shaped correctly - both OUTPUT and FORWARD packets shared the same
class and it just worked. But now only FORWARD packets are shaped,
OUTPUT uses whole line bandwidth.
This is a piece of output from tc -s class show dev eth1:

Results of net idmap dump don't match input to net idmap restore
Greetings,
I'm trying to pre-populate a Samba winbindd idmap database with some fixed entries. But the output from "net idmap dump" does not match up to the input to a "net idmap restore" command.
Here's an example sequence.

# head -3 /tmp/usermapper.tmp

Imap segfault on login with version 2.0.8 & 2.0.11
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to upgrade/test our configuration files from Dovecot 1.2 to 2.0.11. ?I used the Dovecot config convert command, created a RHEL 5 x86_64 rpm, and tested it. ?I can connect, but once I login, the IMAP service segfaults. ?I've also reproduced this on version 2.0.8.
I installed the debug RPM (for the stripped symbols), took a look at the core dump in gdb, and just got

Back to 3.0.1, Winbind and Solaris 9
I've gone back to 3.0.1 to try and get winbind to work with my Solaris 9
machine and NT4 domain. Everything works except user authentication. The
wbinfo and getent commands do what they are supposed to.
I've included a truss of 'su - ganguly'
According to pamlog, the user 'ganguly' has been granted access but it is
still hanging.
How do I do a truss of a telnet login?

winbbind not quiried by nsswitch on solaris 8
Afternoon to all,
I am having the following problem for 3 days now and am starting to bang
head against wall :)

ArcView + Samba: Performance nightmare under Linux, ok under Solaris or HP-UX
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi!
For some months now I'm hunting a Samba performance problem
without a solution yet.
Now I'm hoping someone on this list has an idea (In fact,
I already reported the problem to the mailing list but got
only one reply which did not help)
So I'm here for another try...
Here's the situation:
Some of our users runs Windows XP with

Have you checked the network end of things? This is the same type of thing
I see when the NIC and ethernet switch don't autonegotiate to the same
settings.
Hope I didn't step on anybody's toes here. I'm new to the list.

Announce: Puppet 2.7.8rc1 available
Puppet 2.7.8rc1 is available. 2.7.8rc1 contains everything that was
being previewed in the 2.7.7rc series as well as some new content.
Key highlight in this release (beyond items from 2.7.7rc series) are:

* Showdiff is now not auto-enabled when running in noop mode
* Provide default subjectAltNames while bootstrapping

iptables CLASSIFY and MARK not working?
I have to match my packets based on MAC address, which I cannot do in
the POSTROUTING chain, so I do it in PREROUTING using MARK. Then, I
match on the MARK in the POSTROUTING chain to do a CLASSIFY. But this
does not seem to work:
wireless-r1 bwlimit # iptables -L -v -n -t mangle
Chain PREROUTING (policy ACCEPT 3353K packets, 941M bytes)
pkts bytes target prot opt in out source
