SNMP and OID/MIB/MRTG
Hi all. I am having an issue and quite frankly would rather not spend the entire next two days learning the entire snmp program. I am hoping someone out there has used MRTG and SNMP to make it work. I have both installed. Single server, polling itself. Question 1- does snmpd have to run as a daemon, or only run once so I can get OID and MIBs from it? Question 2- does anyone know the command

Cacti/snmp question
Hi, Trying to follow the recipe at http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Cacti_on_CentOS_4.x Which has a bit of an update for 5.x, but no joy. Anyone know what this from Cacti should suggest? Data Query Debug Information + Running data query [9]. + Found type = '6 '[script query]. + Found data query XML file at '/var/www/cacti/resource/script_server/host_cpu.xml' + XML file parsed

x86_64 snmp Centos 3.x
Does anyone know if the 3.8 update will fix the long-standing problem with snmp interface counters on 64 bit machines? I think it was mentioned in the RH notes, but they said that a year ago too... (The problem is that the 32 bit counters don't wrap correctly so mrtg/cacti graphs go crazy after 2 gigs of data have gone by). -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com

Any good tutorials for setting up Asterisk SNMP and Cacti for remote monitoring?
Hi Everyone, I have been searching the web and I don't know if SNMP is just that complex to setup or that not many people use SNMP to monitor Asterisk but the information is scattered all over. I have got to the point to configure SNMP with Asterisk and then it's all confusing from there on to actually see the graphs in Cacti. I would appreciate it if you can post your steps or point me

Installing Drivers into [print$]
Hi, I was looking though the easy Add Printer Wizard Driver Installation instructions here http://us6.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/classicalprinting.html#id2620623 but found that it did not work. After saying no to "Do you want to install the driver now" when properties comes up nothing is editable so one can't connect to advanced or new driver to install

dovecot and cacti (snmp ?)
Hi All, I've put online a postfix+dovecot+mysql+roundcube server that will grow till serving around 1500 accounts. I've installed the usual cacti graphs, plus the beautiful percona suite for mysql's cacti plus some graphs for iops and iostat. I was lurking around for the best solution to graph dovecot usage, the most detailed possible, in order to prevent and foresee problems.

FAILED with error NT_STATUS_PASSWORD_MUST_CHANGE
Hi there, I'm working on a new print server to replace one that's pretty long in the tooth. I'm using standard packages from Ubuntu Hardy Heron which appears to be Samba 3.0.28a. We use LDAP for the authentication backend. I seem to have that configured properly as I get a ldap_connect_system: succesful connection to the LDAP server in the log but every login fails with: FAILED

problem in getting data through cacti from windows xp
hey friends, I am using cacti cacti-0.8.6-1.2 on Centos 4.0. I want to monitor my network through cacti, I have few windows and linux clients in my network. I have created a device or a host for Linux. I am able to get most of the information except Available Disk Space "Unix Available Disk Space". The client is Fedora Core 3 and the system on which cacti is running is Centos 4.0.

Cacti rpm for el5.6 with php53
Hello, Does someone know if there's a cacti rpm available that works (=installs and doesn't conflict) when "php53" rpm is installed, instead of the older "php" rpm ? cacti rpms from rpmforge/dag have these requirements: php php-mysql php-snmp So those cacti versions conflict with "php53". I checked cacti-0.8.7g-2.el5.rf -- Pasi

Traffic monitor per IP
Hi, I´ve been using iptraf for real time traffic monitoring and it works fine. But I would like to know if anyone knows other package to monitor traffic per IP in real time, without requiring each IP''s MAC address as I have some terminals behind a router that hides their MAC. Cacti/MRTG works like this but not in real time. Thanks for your ideas. Regards, Edo

Looking for ntop alternative
Hi, Can anyone please recomment an ntop alternative for me, which is more stable as well? I need to monitor all connections to and from a CentOS 5 server and ntop does it fairly well, but seems to crash at random times, and thus looses all the date prior to the crash. Cacti / MRTG only gives complete bandwidth usage on the given interface, but I need to know how much bandwidth goes where, and

cacti on centos
Hi all, I'm trying to get Cacti installed on my CentOS 4.3 x86_64 box. I've got all of required packages installed, and created database file, and followed all the instructions in install manual. However, when I get login screen and use admin for username/password, it simply redirects me straight back to login screen. Looking at user_log table, the authentication was

Samba LDAP timeout
Hello, I'm having trouble configuring an Ubuntu Hoary Samba server to use LDAP for authentication (the server is named "dixie"). I'm basing my configuration on another server here at work that connects just fine. When I try to just list samba shares on dixie with $ smbclient -L dixie -U faker It takes quite some time for the request to go through before failing. Looking at the

using nut in cacti
Hi. Are there any off-the-shelf solutions to monitor nut ups' with cacti? I suppose snmp could be used, but since upsc can be run locally in the cacti server, it might be easier to use a simple script. Cacti Installation on CentOS 5
Dear All, I am attempting to install cacti on CentOS 5.3 64 bit, and I checked the wiki, only to find that the instructions are a bit out of date. Have these instructions been updated somewhere, or does anyone have updated instructions, maybe with known gotchas etc? --- Kind Regards, Mr Gabriel -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Monitor Network Traffic
What is the best way to monitor the total incoming / outcoming network traffic of CentOS server. CentOS/SNMP update breaks MRTG?
I got itchy fingers over the weekend and decided to fix what wasn't broken and upgraded one of the older servers from Centos 5.2 to Centos 5.3. Following the recommended process of updating glibc and such before the rest, it appeared to work perfectly and rebooted without problem. However, MRTG 2.15.2 started complaining about unexpected values. I installed/updated both MRTG (2.16.2) and
