Asterisk IAX over VSAT satellite.
Hi all,
For some reason VSAT or Satellite Internet services are not mentioned
(or searchable) in this list's archives. I thought I'd let you know
that I tested Asterisk using IAX (not IAX2) to make a phone call from
an analog phone hooked up to an Asterisk system behind a Linksys router
connected to a Gilat VSAT satmodem, and it worked.
The "other end" (gateway) is a

Traffic Shaping over Satellite Internet
I''ve set up Traffic Shaping on a Linux Router.
Using HTB with SFQ, i''m trying to slow down
heavy downloading for 20 subscribers over
a 2048 kbit downlink. I''m classifying internet related
traffic using iptables marking.
bri0 is my local lan bridge, receiving egress traffic destined for subscribers.

3G Quality
Has anyone been able to configure Asterisk to work over 3G?
I bought Nokia Cell Phones just for that purpose and they register fine
over WiFi and 3G but the quality is just not good enough and sometimes
the call just disconnects.
I have Allow as:

"dst cache overflow" messages and crash
Hi,
I regularly have errors (kernel: dst cache overflow) and crash of a
firewall under Linux 2.6.17 and the route patch from Julian Anastasov.
With rtstat I see that the route cache size increases regularly without
never decreasing.
I have this parameters:
fw:/proc/sys/net/ipv4/route# grep . *
error_burst:1250
error_cost:250

Re: Standalone Shaping
On a router, there is no need for and IMQ because there is always an
egress path.
For example:
Internet -> eth1 -> iptables -> routing -> ... -> egress qdisc ->
eth0 -> LAN
LAN -> eth0 -> iptables -> routing -> .... -> egress qdisc -> eth1
-> Internet
Local Process / Proxy -> routing -> iptables -> egress qdisc ->
eth1/eth0 ->

CBQ DEVICE BW?
Hi,
The CBQ config file shud be some thing like this.
DEVICE=eth0,10Mbit,1Mbit
RATE=50Kbit
WEIGHT=5Kbit
Shall i hardcode the DEVICE BW as 10/100 Mbit
or
Shall i use any other tool like ethtool for getting this.
ethtool gives Speed: 10Mbps
If so, how about, if i use some other Interfaces other than eth0,

two WANs one LAN
Hello list,
I want a set-up with a satellite link (eth0) and a cellular cdma
link (ppp0) coming into a linux box with a LAN (eth1 or wlan0)
to be able to route first through the satellite when it''s on, or
else the cdma when it''s in range. Load sharing is not critical,
but it would be nice. The satellite has a static IP, the cdma
is dynamic. Both WANs are

has_many :through eager loading only loading one record
Hello,
I''ve been using Rails for years, including has_many :through and eager
loading, but this one has me stumped.
The problem is that Active Record is only eager-loading the first of
many records. Here are the models (note set_table_name for a legacy
schema):
class Tag < ActiveRecord::Base
set_table_name ''tag''
end
class DishTag < Tag

VoIP over satellite internet
Could those on the list who have used or tried to use VoIP over a
satellite internet connection comment on how well it works or if it
even works at all in a reliable way. What is the effect of latency on
the VoIP path and how much is generally tolerable? routing via
satellite adds about a quarter second of latency to the path. Is that
too much?

Replacing a character string when finding substring match
Dear R-experts,
I need to replace the values of a vector(tx) with a
word ('Vehicle') when the value of the vector contains
the word 'vehicle'. Sometimes, the value could be 'MCT
vehicle', or 'control-vehicle', etc.
I tried gsub like this
treatment<-gsub('vehicle','Vehicle', tx,
ignore.case=T)
But then I end up with values like 'MCT

projecting GIS coordinates for analysis with spatstat package
I am working on creating an R package for doing fire department analysis and
am trying to create a function that can display emergency incident
densities. The following code sort of does the trick, but I need a display
that shows the number of incidents per square mile. I believe the code
below shows incidents per square unit (in this case, degrees lat/long).
To solve this problem, I believe
