BBEdit Ruby & Rails Syntax Module available
I''ve made a Ruby & Rails syntax coloring module for BBEdit. This is a
"Codeless Language Module", so it will only work with BBEdit 8+. It''s
basically a giant list of Ruby and Rails keywords, method names, and
so on. It''s both Ruby and Rails because BBedit only lets you
associate a file type with one language module.
The file is available here:

R language file for BBEdit
For those of you who are using the latest version of the BBEdit text
editor, I have put together a language definition file for R so that
you can get nice syntax coloring. It is available at
http://smalltime.com/gene/R.plist
Copy the file into "~/Library/Application Support/BBEdit/Language
Modules/" and restart BBEdit. Make sure to switch the mapping of ".r"

[LLVMdev] TableGen highlighting files for TextWrangler/BBEdit
Hi,
I've written a syntax highlighting mode for TextWrangler / BBEdit. The folding still needs work,
and the keyword list expanded, but I thought I'd post it here in case anyone has use for it. Files
are available at:
https://github.com/RonRicoSuave/drunken_octopus/tree/master/textwrangler-tablegen
After I have folding working to my liking I can check it in to the LLVM tree if it

needs must make MD ignore my PHP
I need to exclude arbitrary chunks of my documents from Markdown
parsing, because my documents are littered with <?php blah blah ?>,
and a few other oddities. These blocks get gifted with unwanted
markup by Markdown:
<?php blah blah ?> becomes <p><?php blah blah ?></p>
If I can't make it stop that, it's a dealbreaker for me in an

Spaced text (from Digest)
On the suggestion for double-spaces, I share the general 'oh
no'. I see an explosion of people with iPads etc trying out
Markdown in education because formatting sucks on iPads. They
struggle with needing new lines (see recent post for an
example). In short, they struggle with white-space (invisible) mark-up.
Added to that, frequently cut and paste leaves double spaces (eg

ups_set_altinterface() breaks tripplite_usb on Mac OS X
Is there a particular reason why we are setting the alternate
interface to 0 in drivers/libusb.c?
I have seen some documentation which indicates that this should
already done by the OS when the device is enumerated. If that is the
case, then there is no reason why we should hardcode the alternate
interface to 0.
If I remove the following code, tripplite_usb seems to work*:

Installing Damn Small Linux and R
Installing Damn Small Linux and R
Following my experiences with Knoppix (described in
another mail) I did similar test on Damn Small Linux
(dsl -http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ ). DSL was
interesting, because it is the smallest yet fully
functional version of Linux, hence more suited to
older and smaller computers than Knoppix. Importantly,
it uses lightweight windowing system (no KDE or GNOME)

Cumulative Link Models
Dear R community,
I'm trying to analyze a model with an ordinal response variable.
I wonder if clm()s (Cumulative Link Models) are appropriate in my case.
The study compares parasite infestation of porpoises in 1995 and 2009. The degree of infestation is a rank (mild to severe, as ordered factor). In some parasite species clm gives meaningful results. But in one case I started to wonder. In

Problem with CLVM (really openais)
I'm desparately looking for more ideas on how to debug what's going on
with our CLVM cluster.
Background:
4 node "cluster"-- machines are Dell blades with Dell M6220/M6348 switches.
Sole purpose of Cluster Suite tools is to use CLVM against an iSCSI storage
array.
Machines are running CentOS 5.8 with the Xen kernels. These blades host
various VMs for a project. The iSCSI

Apple iMac OS X 10.13.5 | Powershield Defender 1200 UPS
I got my USB ups reporting on macOS, but it was quite a while ago, I’ll have to dig into how I did it..
I do remember is wasn’t simple.. ( actually is was long drawn out pain in the …. )
Maybe search for posts from me, I’ll check what I did on the weekend and get back to you..
Or, buy an APC.. as they will just appear in Energy Saver..

SAMBA Issues
Hi folks.
For some reason my smb.conf tests just fine, but it isn?t showing up at my Mac. The box is showing, but I can?t see anything. It gives me an error as well. All is below.
https://www.unixmen.com/install-configure-samba-server-centos-7/ is the setup I?m trying.
The smb.conf:

r 1.7.1, MacOS 9.2.2, mclust 2.0-2 (Update)
My previous messge to the list follows below this one.
I found some garbage at the top of the file 'mclust' in the 'R'
subdirectory of the package. I deleted that with BBEdit. The
package appears to load properly now, although I have not really
tested it. I am not sure to whom to report this. I downloaded the
package twice, so this may be a problem with the version stored

String replacement in an expression
Dear R-experts,
I need to replace in an expression the character "Cl" by "Cl+beta"
But in the following case:
form<-expression((Cl-(V *ka) ) +(V *Vm *exp(-(Clm/Vm) *t)))
gsub("Cl","(Cl+beta)",as.character(form))
We obtain:
[1] "((Cl+beta) - (V * ka)) + (V * Vm * exp(-((Cl+beta)m/Vm) * t))"
the character "Clm" has been

Resources forks 'dot underscore' files locked indefinitely from MacOSX clients
We have a central samba file share for our designers (who all use OSX
boxes, and mostly use Macromedia products) to work off of. I've lately
been able to track down a lot of application quirks (mostly problems with
errors when saving, about files being locked) to the Mac resource fork
files being indefinitely locked. Here's a sample from a `smbstatus`
