Fw: wondershaper kills eth0 :(
Hi,
When i do ''wshaper start'' the interface i have defined stops routing
traffic for some reason. It resumes routing when i do ''wshaper stop''.
I''m using debian stable (3.0 woody) with debian''s default 2.4.18-686
kernel.
When I run the script I get no errors, and when I do a ''status'',
everything looks correct.
Can ANYONE

tc rules for Internet Radio
I am currently using the ultimate-tc script from
http://lartc.org/howto/lartc.cookbook.ultimate-tc.html
and I want to make sure that internet radio packets (mp3 streaming audio)
will always get through no matter what. I have added some iptables commands
like this:
iptables -A OUTPUT -t mangle -p tcp --dport 8000 -j TOS --set-tos
Minimize-Delay
iptables -A OUTPUT -t mangle -p tcp --sport 8000 -j

Policing based on port numbers
Hi,
I''m trying to police ingress traffic based on port numbers and IP
addresses. The u32 match based on IP addresses seems to work without
issues and I''m am able to police incoming packets. However, the same
isn''t working with u32 matches based on TCP port numbers. For port
numbers, I added exactly one ''u32 match'' rule:
common for both:

can''t understand howto example
tc class add dev $DEV parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate ${UPLINK}kbit burst 6k
tc qdisc add dev $DEV handle ffff: ingress
tc filter add dev $DEV parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 u32 match ip src \
0.0.0.0/0 police rate ${DOWNLINK}kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1
why does the download is being sent to class 1 which is limited by uplink ?
why the rate is being mentioned in filter and in class ?

simple dual Internet connection setup not sending return packets on correct interface
I have a very simple setup exactly as described in the HOWTO section "
4.2. Routing for multiple uplinks/providers".
One is cable (eth1: dhcp) and the other is PPPoE (ppp0).
I used the following commands to configure the routing once all of my
interfaces are up and i have configured SNATing for them:
ip route add 66.11.173.0/24 dev ppp0 src 66.11.173.224 table 11
ip route add default

tc filter oddities
I shape my upstream cable link with HTB from a script. My voip traffic
(from the 192.168.0.14 host) gets priority over everything else to the
near-starvation of other classes; the rest of the traffic is split up
based on some priority rules (qos, empty ack packets, etc). eth1 is the
uplink
I''ve been using HTB and fw marking for the job until recently, when I
changed the queue structure

Why this stupid ingress tc does not work ?
Hi !
I wanted to shape my analog modem connection so I took these two lines
from the ''wondershaper'' script:
tc qdisc add dev $DEV handle ffff: ingress
#tc filter add dev $DEV parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 u32 match ip
\ src 0.0.0.0/0 police rate ${DOWNLINK} burst 10k drop flowid :1
with DEV=ppp0 and DOWNLINK=24kbit.
But, when I activate it, nothing comes back from the

tc: u32 match in nexthdr not working?
Hello,
it seems, that filtering on nexthdr (TCP/UDP) content, especially
src or dst port, is not working.
The following has no effect on 2.4.16 or older (even 2.2) kernels:
# tc filter add dev eth0 parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 u32 match tcp
dst 3128 0xffff police rate 40kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1
Even if
# tc filter ls dev eth0 parent ffff:
filter protocol ip pref 50 u32

tc qdisc ingress problem ?
Hi, all
I''ve got problems with tc qdisc ingress.
I''m using vanillia kernel 2.6.14.4 patched with
http://www.ssi.bg/~ja/routes-2.6.14-12.diff, and iproute2-2.6.14-051107.
i am using ingress to limit incoming traffic :
(DEV is eth1 / DOWNLINK is 7700)
# attach ingress policer:
tc qdisc add dev $DEV handle ffff: ingress
# filter *everything* to it (0.0.0.0/0), drop everything

Order of ''tc filer''
Hi
How can I control which filter a packet will meet first?
I have tried changing the order of applying the tc filter scripts and
switching flowid number, but ''protocol ip u32 match ip src <ip net>
match ip src 0.0.0.0/0'' always kicks in first?
>From my script
--------------------
# All traffic - Priority: Low
tc filter add dev eth0 parent 1:0 prio 2 protocol ip u32

TC show filter command shows all u32 filters defined with different priority iin all priority.
Hi,
I am currently working on the TC.
I have seen some behaviour which seems to be odd.
I know someone in the mailing list would have seen this problem or may
have some fix for this problem.
When I try to include u32 filters with different priority or pref, I
could see the filters being set on all the priority''s irrespective of
the priority number.
See my sample script below and the

Traffic shaping on multiple interfaces
I''m trying to setup traffic shaping on my linux gateway/router.
The system has 3 interfaces:
eth0 - My LAN - with IP address 192.168.0.254
eth1 - The ethernet connection to which my ADSL modem is connected. This
has a 10.25.x.x IP, more on this later. The ADSL link has an upstream of
~1.2mbit.
ppp0 - The PPP connection which is my WAN connection, with a real world IP.
The system acts

tc n00b
Hi everyone,
I''m new to tc but I need to use it to set up shaping on a new NAT box.
In short:
Each user must have their upload limited to 128kbit and downlink limited
to 256kbit.
Global bandwidth to be limited to 100Mbit
Interactive packets to have higher priority
200+ users, so need to match packets fast
So far I have managed to get the download limits working. However I need

Ingress policing (matching netfilter marks)
Hi,
I''m having issues with policing my incoming traffic by matching packet marks
made by iptables. I''ve checked as many sites and guides as I can find, and I
seem to be doing the exact same thing as they all are, but there''s still no
success. As such, I was wondering if anyone can have a quick look to see if
I''ve done anything obviously stupid?
Essentially, I

Looking for a good htb traffic shaping script to prioritize incoming traffic
I am looking for a good htb traffic shaping script to prioritize incoming
traffic over outgoing traffic for my machine. I have a 100mbit line, ftp
up, backup data comming in, but whenever mirrors starts grabbing it they use
all the traffic and the backup data comming in (the important data) drops to
like 300kb/sec. I was thinking some script doing

tc not matching
Dear all,
I''m having real problems getting tc to do anything useful at all. I''m
also under pressure to get this fixed before the students start arriving
later this month (I work in a university).
In short, I want each IP address to be hard limited to 128kbit down,
64kbit up, never to be allowed more bandwidth than this. It is also
important that the latency remains

Fwd: Traffic Shaping on a Transparent Bridge not working!
I''m trying to shape traffic on a Devil-Linux box.
This note was originally sent to their maillist,
because the LARTC list appears to have been down
for the past few days. My mailbox was just flooded
with a half dozen or so confirmation requests in response
to my repeated attempts to subscribe to this list.

Fwd: police burst is mandatory?
Hi.
I''m using the following filter from lartc "ultimate PPP" example:
tc filter add dev $DEV parent ffff: protocol ip prio 50 u32 match ip src \
0.0.0.0/0 police rate ${DOWNLINK}kbit burst 10k drop flowid :1
It works fine, but when I remove the "burst 10k", I receive the following
error:
"burst" requires "rate".
Illegal "police"

HTB/IMQ troubles (probably)
Hello,
I use HTB with linux-2.4.20-ac1 and iptables-1.2.7a (pathced for IMQ).
I configured one HTB qdisc on an IMQ device. This qdisc has some classes
(about 5) and all of the classes has qdisc pfifo.
I sometimes got out from my linux (while I was working) and I found in
logs:
Dec 4 11:49:27 core kernel: HTB init, kernel part version 3.7
Dec 4 11:49:28 core kernel: HTB: quantum of class
