Broadcom NIC Binding under Centos 4.2
Hello all, I'm having unusual difficulty configuring teaming with Centos 4.2. The 2 NIC's are Broadcom. The HW is HP DL360 and there is no teaming driver for RHEL4 since it comes with package (says HP). Since there is no teaming driver from centos (as far as I know), I tried the Broadcom Driver, configured the team file, but the team just wont come up. A Virtual Interface should be up

[Advice] CentOS6 + KVM + bonding + bridging
With the current talk on bonding, I have a few questions of my own. I'm setting up a KVM host with CentOS 6.3 x86_64 on which I'd like to attach the VMs to a bonded interface. My target setup is one where two GigE NICs are bonded and then the KVM bridge interface is attached to the bonded interface. Initially I tried to use the balance-alb mode (mode6), but had little luck (receiving

Xen with NIC Bonding on Debian Etch ?
Hi guys, I am trying to get bonding work on a debian etch system. I searched already in the mailing list but unfortunately I couldnt find a proper solution. This is what i did so far. - Installed Debian Etch on my server - Installed the following packages for using Xen from the Debian repository: xen-hypervisor-3.0.3-1-i386-pae linux-image-2.6.18-5-xen-686 linux-image-2.6.18-5-xen-686 xen-tools

Need help with Linux networking interfaces and NIC bonding
Hello everyone I am running into some strange issues when configuring networking interfaces on my physical server running Centos 7.5. Let me give you an overview of what's going on: We have a physical server, running CentOS 7.5. This server has one 4 port NIC and one 2 port NIC and a Dell IDRAC port. The first port of the 4 port NIC, em1, is used for Management traffic. The first port of

xen 3.2 network problems
Hi, I try to get networking running with xen 3.2, but it seems I fail miserably. I am on sles10sp1, with xen 3.2.0, and kernel rpm''s installed from SP2. I configured in /etc/sysconfig/network the NETWORK_LIST: NETWORK_LIST="bridge,0,default,00:DE:AD:BE:EF,192.168.8.13/24,dhcp-off" but an ifconfig xenbr0 still shows the mac address of peth0 fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff. Initially, I

etherchannel/port group/bonding plus vlan works well
I figured I should post this because before I went to do it I searched the web for caveats etc and didn''t really find much. So anyway, I set up bonding + vlan for a project. Computer is dell powerdge 350 with 2 intel 82559 10/100 nic running stock 2.4.20. I tried both the eepro100 and the e100 drivers for the nics, both work 802.1q and bonding are modules. Switch is cisco 2924xl-en

vlans+bonding+bridging
hi, I have to configure Xen server and DomU''s which should be able to talk to different vlans - depending on services put on DomU''s. I would like to enslave 2 NICs via bond interface. Both NICs are on trunk ports which are configured in the same way, the same native vlan. I don''t know, if I have to add vlans tagging to eth* interfaces then enslave tagged eth*

poor performance with bonding in round-robin mode (only samba affected)
Hi, samba 3.0.24, debian etch I'm seeing a strange effect with samba and traffic over a bond0 interface in round robin mode. 2 server each with 2 GbE interfaces as bond0 device ind rr mode. netio benchmark: NETIO - Network Throughput Benchmark, Version 1.26 (C) 1997-2005 Kai Uwe Rommel TCP connection established. bridging bonded NICs, centos6
Trying to think this through, hope someone can lend a hand. I have 3 eths I want to bond together and that seems simple enough. eth0,1,2 <-> bond0 , though not sure how this would be for multiple ip addresses needed for the virtual machines... perhaps eth:0, eth:1 etc....to bond0:1, bond0:2 ? then I want to bridge to my virtual machines.... I am going to be using virtual machines, each

anaconda/kickstart: bonding device not created as expected
Hi, I am currently struggling with the right way to configure a bonding device via kickstart (via PXE). I am installing servers which have "eno" network interfaces. Instead of the expected bonding device with two active slaves (bonding mode is balance-alb), I get a bonding device with only one active slave and an independent, non-bonded network device. Also the bonding device

bonding + VLANs -> Oops/panic, no VLAN on 100 Mbit cards [SOLVED]
As the issue concerns both the -user (configuration) and -devel (OOPS), I''m sending this message to both lists. Some time ago I complained about two problems: - VLANs are not working on machines with 100 Mbit cards - I get a kernel Oops (sometimes panic) when I try to use bonding and VLANs with Xen The root of the issue is the same in both cases: VLAN interfaces must *not* be

Bonds, VLANs, and Bridges on Centos 5.6
Running on Centos 5.6 with KVM... I was wondering if anyone had any luck configuring the NICs where eth0 and eth1 are bonded together with vlan support to a bridge? I noticed some threads show this as a possibility (http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-virt/2009-November/001417.html), but haven't had any luck implementing it. There also seems to be a bug with 5.6

Bonding and Xen
Does anyone has implemented this sucessfully? I am asking this because we are implementing Xen on our test lab machines, which they hold up to three 3com and intel Nics 10/100mbps based. These servers are meant to replace MS messaging and intranet webservers which holds up to 5000 hits per day and thousands of mails, and probably the Dom0 could not handle this kind of setup with only one 100mbps

dom0 lost packets.
I try to get working together vlan and bonding both for dom0 and domU. I lost packets sent to dom0 while domU is OK. Xen Networking and bonded interfaces on Debia Lenny
Greetings all. This has been an ongoing issue for me for a few months, and I''ve been trying to get an answer. My server has two NICs, and I want to set up the following: NICs (x2) -> bond (mode 5) -> Xen Bridge -> Doms ...however, trying to configure this doesn''t seem to work: network-bridge steals eth0 instead of bond0, which breaks the bond AND my networking. The

Bond & Team: RX dropped packets
Hi all, we are testing CentOS 7 in order to migrate from Scientific Linux 6 / CentOS 6 and we are facing an issue with the network. Trying to configure network with teaming in activebackup mode or also with bonding in mode=1 (active backup as well) we see many RX dropped packets in the bond0 interface (around 10% of the total), 100% RX drops in the backup interface and 0% in the active interface.

Bonds & Bridge best practices
Hi All I have two bond interfaces namely, bond0 and bond1. bond0 has two ethernet interfaces associated with it and bond1 also has two ethernet interfaces associated with it. Now i create a bridge interface namely br20 (20 being the VLAN) and assign it a IP Address , subnet mask and the default gateway. I will use this IP to reach the server. So it is like a management bridge for me.

How to check an inactive slave in a bond?
I''m using bonding in active-fallback mode to guarantee maximum availability on some critical servers. The mii mode is active so I can detect things like dead card and/or unplugged cable even on the inactive slave. But how do I check that the inactive slave is properly configured/connected to the switch/vlan? I ask this question because it has just bitten me in a part I''ll keep
