Divide bandwidth between 4 groups of ip with the same rate
Hello, I have begun to use the tc scripts since 2 weeks ago, so I am beginner. I am trying to divide my bandwidth in 4 independent ones. Each of these sub-bandwidths is assigned to 4 different groups of ip. Bandwidth sharing is allowed. I put a Linux with two Ethernet card between the router and the LAN. Eth1 is the card connected to the router and eth0 is the one connected to the LAN. My ISP

Creating a contended section of bandwidth with HTB and IMQ
Hi All, I''m trying to create a contended section of bandwidth using IMQ. I have the imq0 device up and running, with traffic passing through it. Firstly, I need to throttle the entire device imq0 to 2mbit/s. I would then like to add throttle rules for individual IP addresses, allowing them to pass up to 512kbit/s each, as long as imq0 has not reached its 2mbit/s. The configuration

IMQ & NAT
Hi all, my IMQ device works OK (thanks to Andy Furniss), but now I''ve problems to attach the traffic in the qdisc''s. Can i attach another qdisc under classes or root qdisc?
now, i''m learning and try to read a lot of article about tc command in linux for setting traffic shaper. but i''m doubt about In the theory about tc command ... In general, we define class under root qdisc but Is it can be possible ???? If we define another qdisc under root qdisc, Can i do it? because i have just read tc command syntax and i found this point ... syntax: tc qdisc

HFSC and prioritization
I''m using HFSC to limit bandwidth for our wireless customers. However, I''d also like the bandwidth prioritized based on packet type. This is what I''m trying right now, and I''d just like some input from anyone out there knowledgeable in this on whether it does what I want it to do: Eth1 -> HFSC ........|-> HFSC (User1) (Min 512 Kb, Max 1024 Kb, Burst 1536

problem with filters - packets ''slipping'' through them when they shouldn''t
Hi! I''m trying to shape my internet connection traffic using hsfc and I''ve encountered the following problem (may not be connected with hfsc). on my lan interface I shape incoming traffic like this: tc qdisc add root dev eth1 handle 1: hfsc default 1003 tc class add dev eth1 parent 1:0 classid 1:1003 hfsc ls rate 10kbit ul rate 10kbit tc class add dev eth1 parent 1: classid

Why does scp stall on low bandwidth connections?
Hi, I am new to tc and have been reading quite a bit on how to set it up etc. Everything seems to be working fine, until I started scp-ing a large file over a low bandwidth connection as part of my testing process. Here is the setup: my pc --- bridge running tc/htb --- rest of network TC is filtering traffic from "my pc" and classifies it as 120kbit (see my script below). I then scp a

HTB performance improvement
HTB performance improvement Hi all ! i''m looking at the performance of the HTB algorithm/implementation because i would like more packets/sec !! this is the scenario of the performance test: i''m using an embedded system with: SPEED CPU: 399,999 MHz RAM: 128 MByte FLASH: 16 MByte EEPROM: 8Kbyte PROCESSOR MPC8272 a lan to lan 10/100 and in particular we are sending

$100 USD to the first person that can provide the rules/scripts that will solve the QOS latency & bandwidth allocation issue !!!!
To stress the urgency and importance of my questions, I am willing to pay $100 to the first person that can provide me with the scripts/ rules that will work in my SnapGear firewalls that will solve the problems I am having. Please see the following post: Linux QOS and prioritization of real-time data (RTP/VoIP) Thank you!

HFSC
Hi: I am using a machine with the 2.4.26 kernel, and trying to compare the performance of the HTB qdisc with the HFSC one. I have the following simple script that allows me to have a video stream on port 1234 while it limits a ttcp UDP stream so that the video stream is unimpaired. #!/bin/bash tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 12 tc class add dev eth0 parent 1: classid 1:1

why dont packets go where i want?
Dear All! I reach the point that I must ask you what I have to do. I am beginner at traffic shaping and I''m very confused with it. :) Here''s my script that doesn''t do what I want to do with it: tc qdisc del dev eth1 root tc qdisc add dev eth1 root handle 1 htb default 2 r2q 10 tc class add dev eth1 parent 1: classid 1:1 htb rate 300kbit tc class add dev eth1 parent 1:

tc filter not work, why?
I try to use tc on mips with linux-2.4.18 but the u32 filter dosn''t work I added htb qdisc to linux-2.4.18 and use it to limit the speed in LAN, it only work well on the default class, for example tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle 1: htb default 10 tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:0 classid 1:1 htb rate 2000kbit tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:1 classid 1:10 htb rate 500kbit ceil 500kbit

Latency/burst problem with HTB
Hi all :) I''m new to this list, as I''m new too to traffic shaping ;) I''ve set up an FTP server in my ADSL line and I wanted it to serve as fast as possible as long as I don''t use my outgoing ADSL bandwidth, and I''m currently using HTB for that (succesfully, I must add). The problem is (when the FTP server is serving higher than its
