HTB - not borrowing, not exceeding rate
Hello! I have a quite complicated setup. In my network on each interface there is bandwidth limitation for each user. Booth outgoing (on interface itself) and incoming (attached IMQ) traffic. There is main HTB class which limits bandwidth for whole interface and HTB subclasses for each user. Filtering is done with hashing filters. This setup was working correctly. But now in the network I

HTB, strange capacity distribution
Hello, after spending several hours reading archives, I decided to write new post. I successfully set up packet classification, made some basic HTB setup, made some simple graphical representation from HTB statistics data... BUT, I cannot figure out how to refine HTB to get this behaviour: I need that class "p2p" should be the last one to get some link capacity. If I set both RATE

max latency with htb and wondershaper for voip and p2p
Hi I''m actually using a wondershaper derived script. The problem I have is that when I ping (ping is in high priority queue) the ping time is not as low as I expected with p2p running: 760 packets transmitted, 760 received, 0% packet loss, time 759695ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 39.667/62.863/598.539/33.287 ms, pipe 2 With voip, it is much better with the qos but it is still a little

Latency/burst problem with HTB
Hi all :) I''m new to this list, as I''m new too to traffic shaping ;) I''ve set up an FTP server in my ADSL line and I wanted it to serve as fast as possible as long as I don''t use my outgoing ADSL bandwidth, and I''m currently using HTB for that (succesfully, I must add). The problem is (when the FTP server is serving higher than its

QoS HTB burst and cburst parameters-FLEX
All: Does anyone know what the burst and cburst parameter do? My understanding so far: * I see a lot of different definitions on the web. It seems like burst is the number of bytes sent before serving other queues/classes. So if burst was 1000 bytes and class rate was 100kibit per second. It would send 1000 bytes each time the scheduler service that queue to a rate of 100 kbit per

Help with traffic control (HTB ESFQ RED)
Hello, there''s a problem I''ve had for several months now, and I''ve never been able to find an answer to it. I''ll try to explain as quick as possible: I have a server that controlls my home network, it provides internet to them also (NAT) and I would like to provide QoS by shaping traffic. I have a p2p server here (running mldonkey), since only that

HELP PLEASE BITTORRENT SHAPING (HTB)
Ok, earlier I post a message explaining my problem with HTB and layer7 (or ipp2p), about not being able to shape the traffic. Well, actually this is what''s happening, I''m marking the packets (right now, I''m using ipp2p as Klaus adviced me to) with iptables, and my queue rules are made using tcng, I''m using the HTB qdisc, and traffic is going to the HTB class

how hierarchical is HTB?
Hi there! I''ve using HTB for a while and now I an faced with a ''problem''. How hierarchical is HTB? Let''s say I have this 3 layer HTB setup: root class 1: (rate=100, ceil=100) 1: children classes 1:10 (30,100) and 1:20 (70,100) 1:10 children classes 1:100 (10,100) and 1:101 (20,100) 1:20 children classes 1:200 (30,100) and 1:201 (70,100) I managed to have

wondershaper htb P2P downloads
Sir, Thanks for the wondershaper utility! It has improved the response time for my ssh connections to my home server whenever i need to access it from the Internet. However, is there a way to setup a bandwidth, say 10kbits/sec (i only have 128kbits/sec DSL), and assign it to a particular traffic type like kazaa and other P2P file-sharing? This way it will guarantee that my home users of

Help needed with HTB
Hello, a few days ago I sent an email asking for help with my tc htb rules I''ve got (a script), but I''m not sure if that email got to you... anyway, I''m sending it again along with my htb script and I''ll tell you the problem once again: I have a computer with ip 192.168.0.100 which is acting as a p2p server, so I want to shape traffic coming out from that

major packet loss with htb
Hi, got a 25/25Mbit connection which is quite stuffed. So I applied htb rules. Uplink: class htb 1:1 root rate 24500Kbit ceil 24500Kbit burst 4661b/8 mpu 0b overhead 0b cburst 4661b/8 mpu 0b overhead 0b level 7 Sent 430600689269 bytes 730147320 pkt (dropped 0, overlimits 0 requeues 0) rate 23057Kbit 5520pps backlog 0b 0p requeues 0 lended: 199673949 borrowed: 0 giants: 0 tokens: -964

HTB prio question
Hi all. I have a bridge running Linux 2.4.24 that I use as a bandwidth manager on a broadband wireless network. I''m using HTB and SFQ to prioritize that share bandwidth on a per-cell basis. My IP tables rules divide the traffic based on IPand traffic type (using layer-7 filter and ipp2p). My goal is to make sure that p2p traffic on the network doesn''t sink all of the

HTB and burst...
Hey everyone, For some reason my htb configuration isn''t allowing any class to burst up to its ceiling ever, even when the link is only being utilised by one class that class only ever gets its assigned rate and exactly that assigned rate... The hierarchy I have is 1: at the root with no default, then 1:2 and 1:3 under that, both with assigned rates, then 2: and 3: under those

Problem with HTB and ceil
Hi, I am trying to setup a shaper for my linux box and I am experiencing some problems. What I am trying to do is priorizing packets on the egress link, therefore I have setup some prio classes etc. The priorizing seem to work but the problem is that the ceil parameter doesnt seem to work on non leafs. This is what stats show: > class htb 1:1 root rate 3000bit ceil 3000bit burst 1602b/8 mpu

Help with HTB rules (experiencing latency)
Hello, I''m using these rules (attached) to control traffic going out from ip 192.168.0.100 which is acting as a p2p server, but when I have these rules on and mldonkey running I experience some latency in web pages, which Iwould like to eliminate. I''ve read that this is where the burst and cburst (even quantum) parameters are useful, but I still can''t understand

counter-strike
Hi list! I have a LAN server with Gentoo Linux. It''s a Pentium III at 1000 MHz with 256 MB SDRAM. I''ve implemented a QoS solution with HTB and SFQ. Here is the diagram: _______________________________________________________________________ 1:--+----1:1 - [ counter-strike & icmp ] rate=1Mbit; ceil=1Mbit; | prio 0; (u32 filter

question about wonder shaper and htb
Greetings, My question deals with the htb version of wonder shaper. I used it for some time without much alteration except I noticed something odd in the way the rates are set up for the 3 htb classes. The way I understand it, there are 3 classes: 1:10 - high prio class with rate ${UPLINK}kbit 1:20 - bulk/default class with rate $[9*$UPLINK/10]kbit 1:30 - bulk/default low priority

Qos wiht HTB for ADSL/Home
Hi, My home setup is as following: - 1024/128 kbit ADSL - FC3 I set up HTB to prioritize traffic. I am not very pleased with the obtained results. The scope of my setup is to have some ssh sessions with remote servers while browsing websites and running aMule Nothing complicated (I think... ;). The very high priority traffic (ssh), gets stuck when I start aMule and make an FTP download.

htb prioritise trafic
I have a router with about 300 clients connecting to it. It has htb with a class per client. I wnat to create a script to prioritise www trafic and ssh trafic over p2p trafic.... this is a sample of what i have now: /sbin/tc class add dev eth0 parent 1:5 classid 1:8012 htb rate 35Kbit ceil 281Kbit prio 6 /sbin/tc qdisc add dev eth0 parent 1:8012 handle 8012 sfq perturb 8 /sbin/tc filter add

HTB not shaping correctly ? (or bad scripts...)
Hello to everybody, We have an ADSL link with uplink speed of 530kbit, the goal is to divide the traffic into three classes, let say A, B and C. A data rate of 240kbps must be guaratee to class A. The remaing rate must be assigned: at least 180kbit to class B and at least 80kbit to class C. The unused band of class A must be given to class B and C (if needed) The unused band of class B must be
