HTB and ATM patch
Hi all,
I patch my kernel (2.6.17) and my tc (iproute2-2.6.18-061002) utilitie for
an accurate packet scheduling on an ATM link.
I configure my HTB hierarchy on the upload of the link and try with
differents flows.
It works correctly but in some of case I lose about 50% of my bandwith.
I use the overhead (42) configuration for my link (PPPoE, VC/LLC) indicate
in the documentation.
My question

Patch accurate packet scheduling for ATM/ADSL
Hi,
I use the patch
(http://ace-host.stuart.id.au/russell/files/tc/tc-atm/) for accurate
the packet scheduling on ATM/ADSL link and i think I''ve found a bug.
I tried to write to the author but he didn''t answer me.
I work on a Linux 2.6.17 with the iproute2-2.6.18-061002 package.
I change the type of the cell_align char to short of the struct
tc_ratespec in the file pkt_sched.h

Kernel Packet Traveling Diagram
Hi,
I find this diagram which details the kernel packet traveling :
http://www.docum.org/docum.org/kptd/
Is it up to date ?
I made some test and I put a DNAT rules in the PREROUTING table of an
interface and I attach it a ingress policy, the dst IP wasn''t changed. the
DNAT it isn''t yet make.
I''ve another question (I''m not sure is it the good mailing list), for

Dynamic traffic shaping or ATM like classes
Is it possible to dynamically do bandwidh reservation?
That is, I want to limit the traffic to 50% for upload
and download, but if there aren''t onbound traffic, who
is doing a download will get 100% of bandwidh and if
there aren''t inbound traffic, who is doing a upload
will get 100%, but if there are both inbound and
outbount traffic, each one get limited to 50%.
I think this

Concerning IP over ATM & IP over Ethernet.
Hi there.I''m Brenda from the Australia,I wanna work on a project relating to
VOIP QoS.I wanna evaluate IP over ATM against IP over Ethernet on the
following parameters relating to voice and video traffic;
bandwidth consumption
packet loss
packet delay(latency)
jitter
traffic thoroughput
Is this project feasible? Can I use NS to simulate the models?I hope you
reply.Thanks.
Best regards.

ATM [Cell Tax]
I have read the thread at
http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2006q1/018287.html
and still don''t know how to fix this problem. It appears alot of work
has gone into it but the HOWTO is so out of date it doesn''t even begin
to addresses this method.
So here are my questions
1. what is the current state of these patches? are they in a specific
version? do i have to patch myself?

For a root-qdisc, can the bandwidth be smaller than the bandwidth of the device?

qdisc/filter to drop all packets
I''m looking for a way to configure a qdisc or filter to drop all packets.
The logic behind this is that I''m using the u32 hashing tables to get move
my filters from iptables to tc filters. This will translate into much less
per-packet processing for me. However, I need a way to drop any packets that
don''t match any of the filters.

tc troubles with pfifo_fast qdisc on 2.4.23 kernel
Hi!
I was updated kernel from 2.4.22 to 2.4.23
and now tc tools can''t correctly determine default (pfifo_fast) qdisc on interface:
# tc/tc qdisc ls dev ppp0
qdisc pfifo_fast 0: [Unknown qdisc, optlen=20]
but, if I assign f.e. cbq qdisc for some device all show correctly:
# tc/tc qdisc ls dev ppp1
qdisc tbf 8009: rate 32Kbit burst 10Kb lat 1.5s
qdisc cbq 66: rate 10Mbit

Are multiple output queues in qdisc possible?
Our system sets up multiple connections. At times, packets can be transmitted for some connections but not others.
With that in mind:
1. Is it possible to have multiple output queues in a qdisc,
rather than one?
2. Can a packet that leaves qdisc be returned to qdisc if it
cannot be transmitted?
If so, how?
Thank you.

prio qdisc problem
Hello there,
I''m trying to do some prio qdisc, but it doesn''t seem to work.
Can anybody tell me why ???
here is my simple prio qdisc script:
OPTIONS="bandwidth 100mbit allot 1514 maxburst 20 prio 3 avpkt 1000"
IPTABLES="/usr/local/bin/iptables.static"
INTERNAL=eth0
EXTERNAL=eth1
tc qdisc del dev eth0 root 2>/dev/null
tc qdisc add dev eth0 root handle

Ingress qdisc functional?
Hello all!
I''ve just subscribed to the list after looking around on Google and checking out
the TC source code a bit. Here''s my situation:
I have a megabit DSL line that I''d like to set up some shaping on. I only have
access to the linux router on my (client) end. Because of that, I was looking to
do some shaping using the ''ingress'' qdisc. However,

qdisc statistics
Hi,
I am trying to relate the lended and borrowed statistics to the others
and, in particular, compare them with the assigned rates for each class.
My understanding is that the lended and borrowed stats are expressed as
a number of packets but over what time period do the numbers refer?
In addition, for a particular class why do the lended and borrowed
figures add up to the sent value? That

qdisc associated free software
How can I advertise a free software that is associated to the linux
qdiscs (more particularly htb).
The soft does not seem to have impressed google, it is
at http://www.rawsoft.org
If you work on htb and are used to compiling modules, then you should
try it.

qdisc monitoring
Hello,
I am interrested in the monitoring of the qos qdiscs parameters such as size
of the queue, enqueues, dequeues, delay in queue, I made a tool to have
those
results availlable at http://rawsoft.org, but it will probably not work
anymore
because of the kernel evolutions (the file sch_red.c is patched for the
tool to work).
I would like to have all the necessary data coming from the kernel

LARTC problems with PRIO qdisc
Hi,
I have a router/firewall running Linux (like the most of you) and I
wanted to do some traffic control.
I''ve created an root PRIO qdisc like the example in paragraph 9.5.3.1
(http://www.lartc.org/howto/lartc.qdisc.classful.html#AEN903) with three
SFQ child-classes.
I wanted for interactive (ssh, telnet, ftp-control) and dns-traffic to
be placed in the first queue, http should go in

HTB qdisc, why quantum <= 200000?
Hi,
Can anybody explain to me why the upper limit of quantum of a HTB class is
200000? Why the author choose this number? What if we expand this number,
for instant, 500000?
Thank you in advance

Re: unknown qdisc ''htb'' ???
Hello,
Could you tell me how did you solve your problem?
I have exactly the same problem but with this configuration:
- linux 2.4.20 kernel, HTB option checked
- iproute2-2.4.7-now-ss010824.tar.gz installed, which is the latest version I found at ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/ip-routing/, except for "try" or "do not use" versions.
I guess I do not need patching iproute2 and
