IPSEC/L2TP Local and External Internet Access at same time through two interfaces?
Hey First, apologies if this went out twice. I sent the original email from an odd email configuration (essentially from an alias of what I signed up as). I searched and noticed that my post did not appear and I did not get a bounce back so I was confused. I waited a few days before resending. So apologies if this goes out twice. I am not trying to spam. I was hoping someone could help me with

ppp interfaces for both loc and net
Hi, I''m in a process of setting up a firewall system, which is going to be also an ipsec/l2tp and pptp vpn server for some mobile clients. The problem is, that the system has two ISPs a cable one (no problems here) and a DSL provider. Because of the DSL provider the system is going to have one pppN interface for DSL (net zone) and many pppX interfaces for l2tp/pptp (loc zone)

I want to connect to a l2tp server from centos.
Hey Gordon, I do not have any security issue in this network. I need to connect to a remote network on a secure network. The options are pptp or l2tp(no ipsec encryption) so I do want to use l2tp like in (lac\lns) and I am looking for a client for CentOS. Note that it works in ubuntu so it is possible to achieve the same with CentOS but I do not know what is behind the gui that initiates the

I want to connect to a l2tp server from centos.
I have a server currently connecting to a pptp remote server. This server(lns\lac) has the option for pptp connections and l2tp connections. The l2tp connections are not using ipsec encryption at all. I have seen couple guides\tutorials on the internet: - https://raymii.org/s/tutorials/IPSEC_L2TP_vpn_on_CentOS_-_Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux_or_Scientific_-_Linux_6.html -

I want to connect to a l2tp server from centos.
Hey John, I do not require encryption at all, it's a secure and internal channel but it requires me to connect via either pptp or l2tp. This is the reason I am asking. I had the chance of finding the SoftEther Project which gives a lot in terms of VPN Client and Server. At: http://www.softether-download.com/en.aspx But yet to try it. Also they have all sorts of beta versions but not

L2tp and winbind - server role active directory domain controller
Uhm upgrade.. to zentyal 4.2.. Setup a member server, now enable l2tp with winbindd That should work fine. Winbindd can not run on the AD DC, but it does on a member server. kvm and shorevall-init
Hello, I''m migrating my laptop setup to a shiny new ThnikPad W520 and in the process am getting rid of VirtualBox (marked by kernel maintainers as "unsupportable crap" or some such) and shifting to virt-manager/kvm. As with the old setup I am running shorewall-init exactly as the great online documentation lays it out. BUT: with VBox it was enough to add > net

Masquerade for L2TP tunnel that may not be up 100% of the time
Hello, I''ve successfully gotten Shorewall 2.0.7 configured and working. However, I am confused about how I can setup the interface "ppp1" in the file masq to allow the masquerading of my local LAN over a L2TP tunnel. It works without a hitch if the ppp interface is up, but if I reboot my machine without the interface being, shorewall refuses to load because the interface is

Controlling Outbound traffic...alternative to dsl_qos_queue
Hi , this probably was asked many times before , but here it goes.. Until now i was using dsl_qos_queue - http://www.sonicspike.net/software/ Which limits outbound traffic and does packet priorites with iptables using MARKed packets.. works very well , I run a ftpserver + webserver so it''s usefull to set these 2 with lowest priority and my multiplayer gaming running on certain UDP ports

OpenVPN and multiple ISPs
I have a server, server A, with three NICs: two to the Internet via separate ADSL modems, and one to the LAN. The two ''net'' interfaces are configured as described at http://www.shorewall.net/MultiISP.html. This has been working for a number of months. I am now testing an OpenVPN link between server A and another (currently single-ISP) server (server B). I can establish the VPN

Multiple ISP + traffic shapping = poor download speed
Hello, Thanks for the great Shorewall which has replaced my hard to maintain home-made scripts. First, what works. Our local network is 10.48.X.X with multiple vlan, each on a dedicated interface. We use Shorewall 4.4.11 from Debian Squeeze. We have a 2 ISP: - isp1 : an optical fiber provider with 10 Mbps. - isp2 : a DSL provider with 15Mbits/1Mbits. We use isp2 as the default outgoing

VLAN martians
I''m playing around with VLAN''s and I have a VLAN capable (layer 2) smart switch. I see a steady stream of martians in the logfile if I have the routefilter option set on the loc zone interfaces in /etc/shorewall/interfaces. I have two interfaces in the loc zone, eth1 and vlan2 respectively. vlan2 is an 802.1q trunk going towards the switch. Is this the expected behavior in
