Schedule parser
Hi, I was trying to schedule a worker to run during the midnight hour like this: :schedules: :collector: :process_something: :trigger_args: 30 * 0 * * 2,3,4,5,6 When I try to start backgroundrb, the "collector" worker failed to start up and I find this in backgroundrb_server.log: /home/mengkuan/apps/testrailsapp/current/vendor/plugins/backgroundrb/

thread pool
Hi, I am trying to limit the number of worker threads running at the same time. Adding ":poolsize: 2" to backgroundrb.yml or starting backgroundrb server like this script/backgroundrb start -- -s 2 does not seem to help. I can still create more than 2 worker threads from a rails app. I tried this on ubuntu dapper - ruby 1.8.4 - backgroundrb 0.2.1 as well as

Scheduling same worker/method at different times with different args
I need to run the same worker''s method twice per day with different arguments. Unfortunately, only the second entry in the schedule is firing. I created an experimental worker to verify this: Worker: class ExperimentWorker < BackgrounDRb::MetaWorker set_worker_name :experiment_worker def create(args = nil) # this method is called, when worker is loaded for the first time

Greetings, I''m reporting on what I found after trying to use mechanize on a site like www.tellme.com. With mechanize versions 0.6.5, 0.6.4, 0.6.3, I was able to use mechanize without any problems on www.tellme.com. However, when I upgraded to 0.6.6 or 0.6.7, mechanize simply ground to a halt after a while. I''m not sure where the problem lies, but after looking at the

mysterious crash of a particular worker
Hi, I am using the latest checkout from backgroundrb release 1.0.1. I have a worker called status_checker that periodically (every minute) checks the status of certain hosts over the network. It works fine at the beginning but after a while the worker will mysteriously disappear and stop working. I have other workers running but they do not disappear like this worker does. These are

problems with ActionMailer

I''ve followed the tutorial on "How To Send Emails With Action Mailer" <URL: http://wiki.rubyonrails.com/rails/show/HowToSendEmailsWithActionMailer >, I''ve generated a mailer -- "notifier.rb" -- and I''ve added the following method to the

Tutorial about XMLHttpRequest+Rails
Hi All I just finished writing up a tutorial relating my experience developing a system to edit line-items ''in-line'' in my Rails application using XMLHttpRequest. I thought this might be of interest to some readers of this list... Check it out at http://hieraki.goodlad.ca/read/book/1 Thanks! pre-release version of backgroundrb available now from svn
Hi, A pre-release version of backgroundrb is available now from svn. Download it from here: http://svn.devjavu.com/backgroundrb/branches/version099/ Since this release marks significant migration from existing practices, i intend to keep trunk untouched for a while. There are no install scripts, but you should copy "backgroundrb" file from script directory of plugin to script

Public Apology to Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore
I was misconstrued as having insulted Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew. My words were twisted and misinterpreted and I feel that there is a need to explain myself and set the record straight. What really happened It was sometime in Aug/Sep in the year 2009. The setting was in the Tampines Central office of Asiasoft Online Pte Ltd. I was having a ***verbal*** conversation with Melvin Lee,

right usage of bdrb

BackgrounDRb version 1.0RC1 available now
Hi Folks, BackgrounDRb is a Ruby job server and scheduler. Its main intent is to be used with Ruby on Rails applications for offloading long-running tasks. Since a Rails application blocks while serving a request it is best to move long-running tasks off into a background process that is divorced from http request/response cycle. This new release of BackgrounDRb is also modular and can be used

[LLVMdev] MI scheduler produce badly code with inline function
Hi Andy, I'm working on defining new machine model for my target, But I don't understand how to define the in-order machine (reservation tables) in new model. For example, if target has IF ID EX WB stages should I do: let BufferSize=0 in { def IF: ProcResource<1>; def ID: ProcResource<1>; def EX: ProcResource<1>; def WB: ProcResource<1>; } def :

I get no log messages in the sendmail log or the system log, nothing in the backgroundrb logs at all, nothing in the production log. [LLVMdev] MI scheduler produce badly code with inline function
Hi all, I meet this problem when compiling the TREAM benchmark ( http://www.cs.virginia.edu/stream/FTP/Code/) with enable-misched The small function will be scheduled as good code, but if opt inline this function, the inline part will be scheduled as bad code. so I rewrite a simple code as attached link (foo.c), and compiled with two different methods: *method A:* *$clang -O3 foo.c -static -S
