IPSEC tunnel up, but no traffic coming through
Hi all,
I finally got my IPSec tunnel from my Fedora firewall system (running
Shorewall 4.0.6) to a remote Draytek Router up-and-running, but I''m having
difficulties directing traffic through the tunnel. From the output of
"racoon -F -f racoon.conf" and the connection status page of the Draytek I
can tell the tunnel is UP, but ping and traceroute requests to several hosts

Using tcpdump to sniff telnet password
Hi all,
As long as I can remember reading various articles/docs, they all say that
telnet is not secure because all traffic is in clear text. Well, out of
boredom, I try to sniff username and password from a telnet session.
The command I use: tcpdump tcp port 23 -vvv -w test.txt
Then I read the result: strings test.txt

[LLVMdev] LLVM pre-built libraries download? (OBJ_ROOT structure)
I am just beginning to use LLVM, and find that 'getting started' is the
steep part of the learning curve. I am using MingW and msys, which I have
not fully grokked yet.
Anyway, actually building the libraries from source is turning out to be
difficult. I want to work with LLVM as described in the except from the LLVM
FAQ below. I am using C++, so the FFI is a non-issue.
Can someone

Chronic parsing date range in console but not in application in rails 3
Hey all,
Chronic will parse a date range in console:
Chronic.parse(1/1/2011 - 1/1/2012, :guess => false)
=> 2012-01-01 12:00:00 -0500..2012-01-01 12:00:01 -0500
However, when I use logger to check if it''s parsing in application, it
is not:
logger.info "The value of history date is #{history_date}" =>
The value of history date is 1/1/2011 - 1/1/2012

Chronic parse problem?
Hi all,
Using the Chronic.parse method, I see some weird behavior. Perhaps
someone can set me straight or confirm that it is indeed weird. Note
that the date changes to one day earlier in the last example below.
Since the date and time are uniquely specified using the hh:mm:ss
notation -- though in the future -- I would expect the same result as
when I specify the time as in

Me gusta la respuesta uqe has dado, pero si por ejemplo, alguno de los datos tiene datos faltantes, entonces devuelve NA.
He probado con:

Main effects and interactions in mixed linear models
Dear all,
This question may be too basic quesition for this list, but if someone has
time to answer I will be happy. I have tried to find out, but haven't found
a consice answer.
As an example I use "Pinheiro, J. C. & Bates, D. M. 2000. Mixed-effects
models in S and S-PLUS. Springer, New York." page 225, where rats are fed
by 3 different diets over time, which body mass has

changing outlier shapes of boxplots using lattice
Hello
This is Elaine.
I am using package lattice to generate boxplots.
Using Richard's code, the display was almost perfect except the outlier
shape.
Based on the following code, the outliers are vertical lines.
However, I want the outliers to be empty circles.
Please kindly help how to modify the code to change the outlier shapes.
Thank you.

ReShape chicks example - line plots
Hi,
In the examples from the ReShape package there is a simple example
of using melt followed by cast that produces a smallish amount of
output about the chicks database. Here's the code:
library(reshape)
names(ChickWeight) <- tolower(names(ChickWeight))
chick_m <- melt(ChickWeight, id=2:4, na.rm=TRUE)
DietResults <- cast(chick_m, diet + chick ~ time)

Easy Date question - newb
All I want to do is find the objects that were created today under the
''created_on'' column. I''ve tried many ways, here is one example using
the chronic gem.
@products = Product.find_all_by_created_on(Chronic.parse(''today''))
I must be missing something right in front of me .... Thanks for any
help.

bug in 'margins' behavior in reshape - cast
according to the documentation of the cast function in the reshape function,
I would expect this bit of code from the examples to calculate marginal
means over only the 'diet' variable.
#Chick weight example
names(ChickWeight) <- tolower(names(ChickWeight))
chick_m <- melt(ChickWeight, id=2:4, na.rm=TRUE)
cast(chick_m, diet + chick ~ time, mean, margins="diet")
But,
