[samba4] Build requires libncurses-dev
I tried building the latest master from git on debian wheezy.
It seems to require libncurses-dev.
I thought to add it into the wiki as a required package to install, but it
seems one needs to ask for a login to the wiki. No prob ;)
Could someone add it to the wiki? Or is this an unintentional dependency
that will be removed?

samba_upgradeprovision and msDS-SupportedEncryptionTypes / msDS-NcType
Originally I had a Win 2003 DC. I added a samba 4.0.0 DC to the
domain, allow full replication to take place and then transferred all
the roles to the samba 4.0.0 dc. Finally I removed the Windows DC from
the domain.
Everything has been working well. Today I upgraded from samba 4.0.0 to
4.0.3 and ran samba_upgradeprovision --full. Initially this was
failing in update_present throwing an exception

Is it possible to lower the domain and forest functional level
I made a try translating the group names one by one in the setup/provision_users.ldif file.
The first groups went OK but when I translate "Incoming Forest Trust Builders" by "Générateurs d'approbations de forêt entrante",
I get this error from the script :

I've just configured Samba4 on Ubuntu (4.0.0+dfsg1-1), and can't seem
to get roaming profiles working (I followed the guide at
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO )

2. DNS is configured and working, running through SAMBA_INTERNAL

Is it possible to lower the domain and forest functional level
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your answer. I gave a try with source4/scripting/bin/samba_upgradeprovision --full.
Of course I did it on a virtual machine clone of our dc without network interface.
The script fails with :
../lib/ldb/ldb_tdb/ldb_index.c:1252: unique index violation on objectSid in CN=Account Operators,CN=Builtin,DC=removed,DC=com, conficts with CN=Op?rateurs de

samba4 AD DC & manually creating DNS records?
I'm trying to use a DNS server independent from Samba (non BIND, on a
different machine/system).
Beyond the two simple records of:
SRV _ldap._tcp.samdom.example.com
and
SRV _kerberos._udp.samdom.example.com
If I maintain all the A records for individual hosts (& the
server.samdom.example.com machine), should that work?
Are there any other special / SRV records that Samba4's

Should I run dbcheck and sysvolreset when upgrading 4.0.0 to 4.0.3?
Hello,
Is it necessary or recommended to run 'samba-tool dbcheck --cross-ncs
--fix' and 'samba-tool ntacl sysvolreset' when upgrading from 4.0.0 to
4.0.3?

Samba4 Internal DNS - CNAME not working
Hello,
It seems Samba4 is having problems with CNAME records. I am seeing the same
behavior as mentioned in the thread below. Is there any ETA on a fix for
this? This is identical to the problem with MX records. This is currently a
much bigger problem than the MX records. I appreciate any assistance.

upgrade procedure
Hello
I'm upgrading to 4.0.4 as far as i remember the samba_upgradeprovision must not be used, so i'm asking for the current upgrade procedure:
- configure samba 4.0.4
- make
- create current samba backup (just in case)
- killall samba process
- make install
- run samba
After that, the new binaries are in place, should i do something else? run an script? delete a file? anything?

Wrong local DNS responses from samba4
I'm running samba4 (compiled via git a few days ago, off 5530cc481653) on
Ubuntu, as an AD DC.
Everything works perfectly with the domain, /except/ that Samba seems to be
returning incorrect DNS entries for the local domain computers -- any
thoughts on how to debug this (or where Samba is getting its IPs from?).
As an example:
router/dhcp/upstream DNS is at 192.168.0.1

Unable to rejoin domain, LDAP error 50
Hi,
This is strange what you are writing. Are you saying, that if Administrator is in Domain Users group = ALL my users have admins rights? Hard to believe.
Moreover, I'm unable to delete Administrator from Domain Users group, as this is my basic group (I received such an info).
I believe the keytab is needed to sth, cause without it I keep receiving:
