BTRFS in laptop-mode
Welcome, What are perspectives on BTRFS complying with laptop-mode and stop writing to disk every 30 sec? The thread was asked several years before (http://mailman.samwel.tk/pipermail/laptop-mode/2012-February/000520.html), but time went by and maybe the situation became a little more on the bright side...? With kernel 3.8.11 I can still see with lm-profiler a lot of

Poor performance of btrfs. Suspected unidentified btrfs housekeeping process which writes a lot
Welcome, I''ve been using btrfs for over a 3 months to store my personal data on my NAS server. Almost all interactions with files on the server are done using unison synchronizer. After another use of bedup (https://github.com/g2p/bedup) on my btrfs volume I experienced huge perfomance loss with synchronization. It now takes over 3 hours what have taken only 15 minutes! File

btrfs send & receive produces "Too many open files in system"
I believe what I am going to write is a bug report. When I finaly did # btrfs send -v /mnt/adama-docs/backups/20130101-192722 | btrfs receive /mnt/tmp/backups to migrate btrfs from one partition layout to another. After a while system keeps saying that "Too many open files in system" and denies access to almost every command line tool. When I had access to iostat I confirmed the

Bug #2617(?) in Puppet 0.25.1rc2
When I use the latest puppet 0.25.1 I got the same problem. This is what I do: 0. Install the Ubuntu 8.04 server with ssh, ruby, rdoc, libopenssl- ruby and git-core (which gets removed after clone). 1. Install the latest puppet from git repositories on both machines using git clone «git clone git://github.com/reductivelabs/puppet» and «git clone git://github.com/reductivelabs/facter» 2. Install it

btrfs-progs: re-add send-test
From: Mark Fasheh <mfasheh@suse.de> btrfs-progs: re-add send-test send-test.c links against libbtrfs and uses the send functionality provided to decode and print a send stream to the console. 66819df "btrfs-progs: add send-test" contained this file when submitted, but somehow got lost on commit. [sandeen@redhat.com: Resurrect lost send-test.c from original commit]

Tinc at startup Debian 8 Jessie
Dear Guus, Thanks for the reply. I still run into some issues. Because the repositories host an older release (1.0.24-2.1+b1) of Tinc, I decided to build and install the Tinc 1.0.33 release. On a fresh install of Debian 8 I’ve done the following: cd /tmp/ wget http://tinc-vpn.org/packages/tinc-1.0.33.tar.gz tar xvzf tinc-1.0.33.tar.gz apt-get install libssl-dev zlib1g-dev liblzo2-dev

Samba4 quit working after update
There is no winbindd--it was never installed. I don't recall exactly why I didn't install it, but I seem to recall something about Samba4 in an AD domain control role not needing it. I ended up using SSS instead. Sanatized smb.conf: # Global parameters [global] workgroup = DCS realm = DCS.LOCAL netbios name = SERVER server role = active directory domain

How to handle failures of resources
Welcome all, Resources can depend one from each other, and failure of a required resource prevent the dependants from being run. But how to trap these failures and handle them? Is there any way to e.g. set a variable $error_happened to "true" if some promise about the resource couldn''t be kept? Maybe even there is a way to capture the error string? Some

tinc 1.0.26 on Ubuntu 15.10 x64 sometimes crashes on startup
Hello, on an x64 ubuntu 15.10 desktop tinc 1.0.26 sometimes crashes on startup of the machine. eth0 (via good old cat6 cable, no wireless) is configured to use dhcp. The crash does not happen often, I have seen it in total maybe 2 or 3 times since installing 15.10 while it was still in alpha ( July 2015 ) until today. The desktop is not shut down very often, maybe once a week or every two weeks
