[PATCH] btrfs-progs: Check mount status of multidevice filesystems
Some programs like btrfsck should not be run on a mounted filesystem.
This patch adds a check in btrfs_open_devices() for the mount status
of every device belonging to the filesystem. The function check_mount()
gets improved support for loopback devices. It now detects if the
program is run on the file that is being used by the loopback device.

[PATCH v0 00/18] btfs: Subvolume Quota Groups
This is a first draft of a subvolume quota implementation. It is possible
to limit subvolumes and any group of subvolumes and also to track the amount
of space that will get freed when deleting snapshots.
The current version is functionally incomplete, with the main missing feature
being the initial scan and rescan of an existing filesystem.
I put some effort into writing an introduction into

[PATCH 00/21] [RFC] Btrfs: restriper
Hello,
This patch series adds an initial implementation of restriper (it''s a
clever name for relocation framework that allows to do selective profile
changing and selective balancing with some goodies like pausing/resuming
and reporting progress to the user.
Profile changing is global (per-FS) so far, per-subvolume profiles
require some discussion and can be implemented in future.

[patch 00/65] Error handling patchset v3
Hi all -
Here''s my current error handling patchset, against 3.1-rc8. Almost all of
this patchset is preparing for actual error handling. Before we start in
on that work, I''m trying to reduce the surface we need to worry about. It
turns out that there is a ton of code that returns an error code but never
actually reports an error.
The patchset has grown to 65 patches. 46 of them

[PATCH] add crtime to the snapshot list
From: Anand <anand.jain@oracle.com>
This patch adds creation-time to the snapshot list display,
which would help user to better manage the snapshots when
number of snapshots grow substantially. This patch is developed
and on top of the send/receive btrfs and btrfs-progs repo at

[PATCH] Btrfs: optimize key searches in btrfs_search_slot
When the binary search returns 0 (exact match), the target key
will necessarily be at slot 0 of all nodes below the current one,
so in this case the binary search is not needed because it will
always return 0, and we waste time doing it, holding node locks
for longer than necessary, etc.
Below follow histograms with the times spent on the current approach of
doing a binary search when the

[PATCH v2 0/6] btrfs: generic readeahead interface
This series introduces a generic readahead interface for btrfs trees.
The intention is to use it to speed up scrub in a first run, but balance
is another hot candidate. In general, every tree walk could be accompanied
by a readahead. Deletion of large files comes to mind, where the fetching
of the csums takes most of the time.
Also the initial build-ups of free-space-caches and

[PATCH v5 0/3] Btrfs: add IO error device stats
Changes v1-v2:
- Remove restriction that BTRFS_IOC_GET_DEVICE_STATS is a privileged
operation
- Cast u64 to unsigned long long for printf()
Changes v2-v3:
- Rebased on Chris'' current master
Changes v3-v4:
- Add padding at end of ioctl structure
Changes v4-v5:
- The statistic members in the ioctl are now organized as an array of
64 bit values. Symbolic names for the array indexes

[PATCH 0/3] Btrfs: add IO error device stats
The goal is to detect when drives start to get an increased error rate,
when drives should be replaced soon. Therefore statistic counters are
added that count IO errors (read, write and flush). Additionally, the
software detected errors like checksum errors and corrupted blocks are
counted.
An ioctl interface is added to get the device statistic counters.
A second ioctl is added to atomically get

[PATCH] Btrfs: fix passing wrong arg gfp_t to decide the correct allocation mode
If you look the code carefully, you will see all the tree_mod_alloc()
has to use GFP_ATOMIC. However, the original code pass the wrong arg
gfp_t in some places, this dosen''t cause any problems, because in the
tree_mod_alloc(), it ignores arg gfp_t and just use GFP_ATOMIC directly,
this is not good.
However, i think we should try best not to allocate with GFP_ATOMIC, so
i keep the gfp_t

[PATCH v5 0/8] Btrfs scrub: print path to corrupted files and trigger nodatasum fixup
While testing raid-auto-repair patches I''m going to send out later, I just found
the very last bug in my current scrub patch series:
Changelog v4->v5:
- fixed a deadlock when fixup is taking longer while scrub is about to end
Original message follows:

This patch set introduces two new features for scrub. They share the backref
iteration code which is the

[PATCH 1/2] Btrfs: fix wrong handle at error path of create_snapshot() when the commit fails
There are several bugs at error path of create_snapshot() when the
transaction commitment failed.
- access the freed transaction handler. At the end of the
transaction commitment, the transaction handler was freed, so we
should not access it after the transaction commitment.
- we were not aware of the error which happened during the snapshot
creation if we submitted a async transaction

[GIT PULL v3] Btrfs: improve write ahead log with sub transaction
I''ve been working to try to improve the write-ahead log''s performance,
and I found that the bottleneck addresses in the checksum items,
especially when we want to make a random write on a large file, e.g a 4G file.
Then a idea for this suggested by Chris is to use sub transaction ids and just
to log the part of inode that had changed since either the last log commit or

[RFC] btrfs-progs: fix sparse checking and warnings
Hi gang,
I was a little surprised to see that patch go by recently
which fixed an endian bug. I went to see how sparse
checking looked and it was.. broken. I got it going
again in my Fedora environment.
Most of the patches are just cleanups, but there *were*
three real bugs lurking in all that sparse warning spam.
So I maintain that it''s worth our time to keep it going

[PATCH] Btrfs: fix broken nocow after balance
Balance will create reloc_root for each fs root, and it''s going to
record last_snapshot to filter shared blocks. The side effect of
setting last_snapshot is to break nocow attributes of files.
So it turns out that checking last_snapshot does not always ensure that
a node/leaf/file_extent is shared.
That''s why shared node/leaf needs to search extent tree for number of

[PATCH 1/4] Btrfs: map the node block when looking for readahead targets
If we have particularly full nodes, we could call btrfs_node_blockptr up to 32
times, which is 32 pairs of kmap/kunmap, which _sucks_. So go ahead and map the
extent buffer while we look for readahead targets. Thanks,

[PATCH 0 of 3 v2] PV-GRUB: add support for ext4 and btrfs
Hi,
The following patches add support for ext4 and btrfs to
PV-GRUB. These patches are taken nearly verbatim from those provided
by Fedora and Gentoo.
We''ve been using these patches for the PV-GRUB images available in EC2
for some time now with no problems.
Changes from v1:
- Makefile has been changed to check the exit code from patch
- The btrfs patch has been rebased to apply

[Request for review] [RFC] Add label support for snapshots and subvols
From: Anand Jain <anand.jain@oracle.com>
(This patch is for the review/test not yet for the integration).
Here is an implementation of the feature to add label to the
subvolume and snapshots. Which would help sysadmin to better manager
the subvol and snapshots.
This can be done in two ways, one - using attr which is user land
only changes but drawback is able to change the label
