Livelock induced failure in blktap2.
We''ve been working on getting XEN 4.1.2 validated for internal use and
have run into what appears to be a livelock induced failure in
properly freeing a blktap2 device.
We ported the blktap2 driver from Dan Stodden''s GIT tree into 3.2.x
which is a reasonably straight forward process. We are also running
the toolchain with a patch which Ian Campbell posted in order to get

You are right moving the mail should be simple.
I ask myself it is possible to store the date of the resubmission in the mail itself.

questions about zil
I recently got a new SSD (ocz vertex LE 50gb)
It seems to work really well as a ZIL performance wise. My question is, how
safe is it? I know it doesn''t have a supercap so lets'' say dataloss
occurs....is it just dataloss or is it pool loss?
also, does the fact that i have a UPS matter?
the numbers i''m seeing are really nice....these are some nfs tar times

Resubmission after N days
Hi,
I would like to implement a 43Folder system[1] with dovecot and a mail user agent.
Use case:
- I have a new mail in my inbox. I read it and see that I can't handle it now. I want to handle this mail in 5 days.
- Now I want to have some sort of resubmission: the mail should be moved to a different location for these 5 days.
- After 5 days the mail should be moved to my inbox again.
How

syslinux 5.01 serial regression...
Hi HPA et al,
When moving from syslinux 4.06 to 5.01, I found serial output isn't
working. The issue reproduces simply [1] and I get back serial output
when I move back to syslinux 4.06.
I also see a regression in booting locally with 'localboot 0' which give
a generic 'failed' error message; likely reproducible there also.
Let me know if you need more information and

firefox and D state
Previously when firefox went catatonic
to the point that I could not even scroll,
its CPU usage had gone to 100%+.
Now top tells me that firefox, Web Content (with a space)
or sometimes kswap... has process state D,
uninterruptable sleep.
Any suggestions on how to deal?
I often have a lot of tabs open,
so discovering the right one was hard enough before.
Usually, it was something relatively new,

Samba goes catatonic...?
Guten Tag!
I have Samba 225 on a network of 75-100 daily users.
System has (4) SCSI drives: (2) 18GB (RAID-1) and (2) 36GB (RAID-1)
on two different SCSI channels.
The system is running Red Hat 7.3 with updated and recompiled Samba 2.25
package.
After one day of operation, the SMBD process is listed in "ps -A" ten to
fifteen times, and some client PCs cannot connect. There

SSDs and filesystem alignment...
Does BTRFS perform any journal and/or filesystem structure alignment
(for benefit to SSD longevity and SSD, RAID array and large-sector
device performance) at present?
ext4''s Ted Tso will deliver 128KB alignment with the next release of
e2fsprogs (ie 1.41.4) [1], so perhaps it''s a good idea for btrfsprogs
also, if not already available?

iozone remove_suid oops...
Having done a current checkout, creating a new FS and running iozone
[1] on it results in an oops [2]. remove_suid is called, accessing
offset 14 of a NULL pointer.
Let me know if you''d like me to test any fix, do further debugging or
get more information.
Thanks,
Daniel

quickly see btrfs_search_slot returning positive numbers, popping an

Are >4KB block sizes known broken for now?

nouveau Macbook EDID fix upstreaming...
It looks like Ryan's Nouveau patch [1,2] to get the I2C working for
EDID (thus modelines) is crucial for avoiding the Nvidia binary
drivers on MacbookPro 2012s.
Any plans/chance for it to be upstreamed to eg 3.6-rc3?
Many thanks,
Daniel
