[patch 00/65] Error handling patchset v3
Hi all - Here''s my current error handling patchset, against 3.1-rc8. Almost all of this patchset is preparing for actual error handling. Before we start in on that work, I''m trying to reduce the surface we need to worry about. It turns out that there is a ton of code that returns an error code but never actually reports an error. The patchset has grown to 65 patches. 46 of them

issues with index for table with over 18 million records
I have a MySQL table with over 18 million records in it. We are indexing about 10 fields in this table with ferret. I am having problems with the initial building of the index. I created a rake task to run the "Model.rebuild_index" command in the background. That process ran fine for about 2.5 days before it just suddenly stopped. The log/ferret_index.log file says it got to about

kernel BUG at fs/btrfs/extent_io.c:4052 (kernel 3.5.3)
Hi all, Last week we had 2 times an "uncorrectable ecc memory error" crash on our server on the same memory module. After removing the faulty module and restarting the server, everything was working again. However, yesterday we had a soft lockup and had to restart the server again. No warning or ecc error this time. Everything is working now, but we want to avoid this in the future

Hi Patch "drm/nouveau: use drm_mm in preference to custom code doing the same thing" in nouveau tree introduced new deadlock possibility, for which lockdep complains loudly: [ 1541.070202] [drm] nouveau 0000:02:00.0: Allocating FIFO number 3 [ 1541.084772] [drm] nouveau 0000:02:00.0: nouveau_channel_alloc: initialised FIFO 3 [ 2417.733440] [drm] nouveau 0000:02:00.0:

[PATCH] Btrfs: return EUCLEAN rather than ENXIO once internal error has occurred for SEEK_DATA/SEEK_HOLE inquiry
By referring to http://linux.die.net/man/2/lseek, return ENXIO only when "offset beyond EOF" for either SEEK_DATA or SEEK_HOLE inquiry. But we return it in case of internal issue too if btrfs_get_extent_fiemap() failed due to other issues. This will confuse the user applications to be expecting ENXIO when trying to find a specific data or hole location once it has occurred. Thanks Dave

warnings met in introduce extent buffer cache for each i-node patch
Miao, I was trying out your patch on scalability testing for BTRFS on v3.3 kernel. http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-btrfs@vger.kernel.org/msg14930.html However, I ran into a lot of warnings (see the dmesg below). Wonder if you have a more up to date version of this patch? In addition, I have to do this modification to fix a warning in your original patch. diff --git a/fs/btrfs/inode.c

segfault
I've managed to trap the following segfault with xxgdb and gctorture() set. The segfault seems to move around if gctorture() is not set, but has now occurred twice in the same spot with it set. xxgdb gives the message Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x71244 in RunGenCollect (size_needed=2) at memory.c:1027 and the source listing points to FORWARD_CHILDREN(s); in the

help debugging segfaults
(Sorry for the cross-post--- I wasn't sure which list is more appropriate...) Hi everyone, I've run into segfaults when using my randomForest package on large dataset (e.g., 100 x 15200) and large number of trees (e.g., ntree=7000 and mtry=3000). I'm wondering if anyone can give me some hints on where to look for the problem. The randomForest package mainly consists of two things:

can't find array overruns (was: help debugging segfaults)
Dear R-devel, Last week I got several responses to my question about debugging segfaults in my code (original post below). After I changed the S_alloc() calls to Calloc()/Free(), the symptom was gone, but I was told to keep looking. So I did: o Switched to Calloc/Free. Electric Fence did not find any problem. o Put assert(index < bound); assert(index >=0); everywhere in the C routine

[BUG?] Double quota calulation when special folder is present
Just hoping to get some dev eyes on this. I'm incredibly reluctant to throw the word 'bug' around (since 99 times out of 100, it's not -- it's almost always the config), but I can't think of any way that this could be a config issue, esp when the pre-2.2.34 version works as expected. I noticed during troubleshooting that dovecot errors out if I try to create a subfolder
