[PATCH] Btrfs: protect orphan block rsv with spin_lock
We''ve been seeing warnings coming out of the orphan commit stuff forever from ceph. Turns out it''s because we''re racing with checking if the orphan block reserve is set, because we clear it outside of the spin_lock. So leave the normal fastpath checks where they are, but take the spin_lock and _recheck_ to make sure we haven''t had an orphan block rsv added in

[RFC][PATCH] btrfs orphan code
Hello, I want to throw this out here now that I''ve got most of the heavy lifting done for this code to make sure what I''m doing is ok for now. I''ve added an ORPHAN_DIR item key to have a hidden dir per root. Right now it just does it for whatever the default root is on mount, but I''m going to fix that to do the orphan dir check/creation on lookup of a

[PATCH] Btrfs: fix orphan cleanup regression
In fixing how we deal with bad inodes, we had a regression in the orphan cleanup code, since it expects to get a bad inode back. So fix it to deal with getting -ESTALE back by deleting the orphan item manually and moving on. [PATCH 1/2] btrfs: document where we use BUG_ON instead of error handling
Document those places in the btrfs code which are BUGing on non-fatal error conditions that should be handled by proper error paths. This makes it easier to distinguish between what needs fixing versus which BUG_ON''s we might want to keep (to trap code bugs, unexpected inconsistencies, etc). Do this with a trivial macro, ''btrfs_fixable_bug_on'' which just defines to

[PATCH] BUG on error handlings in Ext3 under I/O failure condition
Hello. I found bugs on error handlings in the functions arround the ext3 file system, which cause inadequate completions of synchronous write I/O operations when disk I/O failures occur. Both 2.4 and 2.6 have this problem. I carried out following experiment: 1. Mount a ext3 file system on a SCSI disk with ordered mode. 2. Open a file on the file system with O_SYNC|O_RDWR|O_TRUNC|O_CREAT

[PATCH] Canonicalise BTRFS: and Btrfs: to btrfs:
Currently there are 3 different capitalisations of btrfs: used in printk()''s, BTRFS: (3 occurences), Btrfs: (1 occurence) and btrfs: (77 occurences). It''s best to have them all the same for consistency, so we canonicalise the two minority cases to btrfs:. [PATCH] Btrfs: fix another orphan cleanup problem
Because orphan cleanup now happens well after the fs is all initialized and such, we can run into this problem where we find orphan entries that were just added to the fs, not ones that were added previously during a crash. This does not bode well for the system, and results in a couple of odd things happening, like truncate being run on non-regular files. In order to fix this we just check and

[PATCH] Make sure all dirty blocks are written at commit time
Write dirty block groups may allocate new block, thus may add new delayed back ref. btrfs_run_delayed_refs may make some block groups dirty. commit_cowonly_roots does not handle the recursion properly, so some dirty blocks can be left unwritten at commit time. This patch move btrfs_run_delayed_refs into the loop that writes dirty block groups, and make the code not break out of the loop until

[PATCH] Btrfs: proper metadata -ENOSPC handling
This patch finally gives us full proper -ENOSPC handling for btrfs. Now whenever you do a btrfs_start_transaction, you must specify the number of items you are planning to add/delete/modify. When adding orphans to an inode''s root, we start a transaction for that root that when ended in several places such as for example extent-tree.c:btrfs_remove_block_group(), inode.c:btrfs_unlink() and inode.c:btrfs_evict_node(), doesn''t result in a commit, that is, inode.c:btrfs_orphan_commit_root() doesn''t get called (via transaction.c:commit_fs_roots()). Bug in inode deletion code leading to stale inodes
Hello, I've hit a bug in OCFS2 delete code which results in inodes being left on disk without any links to them. The workload triggering this creates directories on one node and deletes them on another node in the cluster. The inode is not deleted because both nodes bail out from ocfs2_delete_inode() with: Skipping delete of 100405 because it is in use on other nodes The scenario which I
