Snapper packages for Ubuntu
Hi, I''ve created snapper packages for Ubuntu, available on https://launchpad.net/~snapper/+archive/stable. For those new to snapper, it''s a tool for managing btrfs snapshots (http://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Snapper). It depends on libblocxx available from https://launchpad.net/~bjoern-esser-n/+archive/blocxx , and currently uses git source up to commit 50dec40. I''ve done

Re: Diff using send-receive code
Hello, We''re a team of 4 final year computer science students and are working on generating a diff between file system snapshots using the send receive code. The output of our utility looks like this- (I''ve tested it on a small subvol with minimal changes just to give an idea) root@nafisa-M-6319:/mnt/btrfs# btrfs sub diff -p /mnt/btrfs/snap1 /mnt/btrfs/snap2

[PATCH 0/6] Btrfs commit fixes, async subvol operations
Hi Chris, This is the extent of my current queue of Btrfs snapshot/subvol/commit stuff. Most of these were posted several months ago. Can be sent upstream during this merge window? Not having this functionality is becoming a bit of a roadblock for our efforts to keep the Ceph data in a consistent state. These patches are also available from

problems with dracut mounting subvols
I've just tried putting usr in a subvol. Installation proceeds normally, no errors, but I'm dropped to a dracut prompt which indicates mount of /usr failed. dmesg follows: [ 14.025215] systemd[1]: Starting dracut initqueue hook... [PATCH] add crtime to the snapshot list
From: Anand <anand.jain@oracle.com> This patch adds creation-time to the snapshot list display, which would help user to better manage the snapshots when number of snapshots grow substantially. This patch is developed and on top of the send/receive btrfs and btrfs-progs repo at git://github.com/ablock84/linux-btrfs.git (send-v2) git://github.com/ablock84/btrfs-progs.git (send-v2)

Engine's Application Controller
Hi, I''ve been using rails 3 engines and (at least in my experience) the engine''s application controller is overidden by the app''s application controller. Wouldn''t it be better if the app would just load on top of the engine? I mean that if an engine''s application controller has methods or anything else that does not collide with the stuff defined

[Request for review] [RFC] Add label support for snapshots and subvols
From: Anand Jain <anand.jain@oracle.com> (This patch is for the review/test not yet for the integration). Here is an implementation of the feature to add label to the subvolume and snapshots. Which would help sysadmin to better manager the subvol and snapshots. This can be done in two ways, one - using attr which is user land only changes but drawback is able to change the label

[RFC] Btrfs "sendshots" and hidden snapshots
Hello all, in IRC we had a discussion on how we could solve sending live subvolumes and how to send subvolumes without the need to administrate/keep old snapshots for incremental sends. One of the ideas was to introduce "sendshots", which are basically snapshots where no refs are counted for file data. This means, that when file data is changed in the sendshot origin, we do not consume

How to generate a list of lists recursively (for bayesm)
Dear all, I need to generate a list of lists as required by the bayesm-package. This means in my application that I have to generate a list which consists of 2000 elements, which are lists themselves: list(list(y1,X1),...,list(y2000,X2000)). The y are vectors and the X are matrices of different dimensions. I tried to solve this problem iteratively by the following code, but received an error

MSP430 code generation from LLVM IR
Hello, While trying to find out why the LDC compiler refuses to generate object code for MSP430 targets (but generates MSP430 assembly or LLVM IR/bitcode), I came across the following apparent inconsistency. This works: $ clang --target=msp430 -c test.c This doesn't work: $ clang --target=msp430 -S -emit-llvm test.c $ llc -filetype=obj test.ll /opt/msp430/bin/llc: target does not support

Over-alignment of globals?
Hi, If we specify an explicit alignment attribute for globals (either at the Clang or LLVM IR level) we get asm alignment directives with values that seem to be `max(natural_alignment, specified_alignment)`. This seems to happen for multiple archs. GCC instead just emits the asked-for alignment. Is there a good reason for this LLVM behavior? Example: https://godbolt.org/z/B5ZcN_ (Clang)

[RFC] Improve btrfs subvolume find-new command
Hi all, enclose a patch to improve the "btrfs subvolume find-new" command. This is a RFC because it is not finished, but it is an usable state and may be discussed. The aim of this patch is: - take in account not only an update of the extent but also an update of the inode and xattr (which includes the acl) - extract the generation reference number directly from a snapshot The new
