[PATCH] Btrfs: add "nocompress" mount option
In btrfs if we mount with "compress" we have no way to disable compressing by remounting (mount -o remount /mnt/btrfs), only by unmounting and mounting without "compress". This patch adds "nocompress" mount option which can be used to remount the filesystem without compression: # mount -o remount, nocompress /mnt/btrfs This option is usefull in cases when we have a

[PATCH V2] Btrfs: fix subvolume mount by name problem when default mount subvolume is set
We create two subvolumes (meego_root and meego_home) in btrfs root directory. And set meego_root as default mount subvolume. After we remount btrfs, meego_root is mounted to top directory by default. Then when we try to mount meego_home (subvol=meego_home) to a subdirectory, it failed. The problem is when default mount subvolume is set to meego_root, we search meego_home in meego_root but can not

[PATCH] btrfs: flushoncommit mount option
Hi Chris- Here''s a simpler version of the patch that drops the unrelated sync_fs stuff. thanks- sage The ''flushoncommit'' mount option forces any data dirtied by a write in a prior transaction to commit as part of the current commit. This makes the committed state a fully consistent view of the file system from the application''s perspective (i.e., it

[PATCH, RFC] btrfs: allow scanning multiple devices during mount
Allows to specify one or multiple device=/dev/foo options during mount so that ioctls on the control device can be avoided. Especially useful when trying to mount a multi-device setup as root. [PATCH] Btrfs: allow subvol deletion by unprivileged user with -o user_subvol_rm_allowed
Add a mount option user_subvol_rm_allowed that allows users to delete a (potentially non-empty!) subvol when they would otherwise we allowed to do an rmdir(2). We duplicate the may_delete() checks from the core VFS code to implement identical security checks (minus the directory size check). [PATCH v4] Btrfs: Check INCOMPAT flags on remount and add helper function
In support of the recently added capability to remount with lzo compression, provide a helper function to check the compression INCOMPAT flags when remounting with lzo compression, and set the flags if necessary. Also, implement the new helper function when defragmenting with explicit lzo compression and when setting the default subvolume. Signed-off-by: Mitch Harder

[PATCH] btrfs: rename the option to nospace_cache
Rename no_space_cache option to nospace_cache to be more consistent with the rest, where the simple prefix ''no'' is used to negate an option. The option has been introduced during the -rc1 cycle and there are has not been widely used, so it''s safe. [RFC] Btrfs: Allow the compressed extent size limit to be modified v2
Provide for modification of the limit of compressed extent size utilizing mount-time configuration settings. The size of compressed extents was limited to 128K, which leads to fragmentation of the extents (although the extents themselves may still be located contiguously). This limit is put in place to ease the RAM required when spreading compression across several CPUs, and to make sure the

BTRFS error after clearing cache
Hello, I wanted to make sure that my boot slowdown was related to space_cache so I rebooted the PC several times and it did become slower again. What is more, it doesn''t seem like I even need to generate any actual IO traffic to trigger this. I thought I might give clear_cache a shot again and to test the boot speed with nospace_cache as well. After first booting with

R: [PATCH 2/2] Btrfs-progs: add mount-option command
Hi Seto, please could you update also the man page too ? Why it was not provided a way to clear a *single* flag ? To me it seems a bit too long to clear all the flag (btrfs mount-option clear) and then set the right one. As user interface I suggest something like chmod: btrfs mount-option set +ssd,skip_balance -nodatacow /dev/sdX or btrfs mount-option set =ssd,skip_balance,nodatacow

Dear list members, Yesterday I was about to restart my computer and that''s why I closed every opened applications: three Eclipse instances, two other Java applications, 2 web browsers etc. It involved a lot of IO operations and before everything could settle down my system became unresponsive. [PATCH 1/2] Btrfs: fix unblocked autodefraggers when remount

[RFC PATCH] Decrease Metadata Fragment Using A Caterpillar Band Method
I made an attempt to partly decrease fragment by using a preallocated area of multiple size of a std blocksize for a tree block when it is COWed. The basic idea is that if any a tree block need to be created, we offer, say, 2 or 4 multiples of a std blocksize for it, then use the first block in the continuous blocks. When this block need a cow in the future, a new free block in these continuous

compiler-rt linux-arm builtins/clear_cache.c depends on kernel headers
builtins/clear_cache.c depends on kernel headers. It's difficult to ascertain whether it's mixing with libc headers but if it is then that's a bug in its own right. Either way, it's pulling in kernel headers for a single #defined constant that's been part of the linux ABI for years now. This makes it more difficult to cross compile for, in my opinion, no good reason. So

mountinfo discrepancy, subvol vs subvolid
When mounting a subvolume by name, mountinfo shows the name of the subvolume. When mounting a subvolume using subvolid it does not. Seems like a problem when trying to determine what is mounted. -o subvol=<name> # cat /proc/self/mountinfo | grep vda 43 34 0:29 /home /home rw,relatime shared:29 - btrfs /dev/vda1 rw,seclabel,space_cache 44 34 0:29 /boot /boot rw,relatime shared:30 - btrfs

[PATCH 1/2] Ocfs2: Add a mount option "coherency=*" for O_DIRECT writes.
Currently, default behavior of O_DIRECT writes was allowing concurrent writing among nodes, no cluster coherency guaranteed (no EX locks was taken), it hurts buffered reads on other nodes by reading stale data from cache. The new mount option introduce a chance to choose two different behaviors for O_DIRECT writes: * coherency=full, as the default value, will disallow concurrent
