[RFC] Improve btrfs subvolume find-new command
Hi all, enclose a patch to improve the "btrfs subvolume find-new" command. This is a RFC because it is not finished, but it is an usable state and may be discussed. The aim of this patch is: - take in account not only an update of the extent but also an update of the inode and xattr (which includes the acl) - extract the generation reference number directly from a snapshot The new

[PATCH 4/5][REPOST][BTRFS-PROGS] Avoid to scan cdrom and floppy
Hi all, the commands "btrfs filesystem show" and "btrfs device scan" look at the /dev directory (and it subdirectories) for every block devices. This is a slow process because floppy and cdrom are also checked. Moreover, as highlighted by Helmut, if udev is not used, the /dev directory is populated by high number of non-existant devices, which slow the process. My patch

[PATCH v4] Btrfs: Check INCOMPAT flags on remount and add helper function
In support of the recently added capability to remount with lzo compression, provide a helper function to check the compression INCOMPAT flags when remounting with lzo compression, and set the flags if necessary. Also, implement the new helper function when defragmenting with explicit lzo compression and when setting the default subvolume. Signed-off-by: Mitch Harder

[PATCH 0/5] btrfs: lz4/lz4hc compression
WARNING: This is not compatible with the previous lz4 patchset. If you''re using experimental compression that isn''t in mainline kernels, be prepared to backup and restore or decompress before upgrading, and have backups in case it eats data (which appears not to be a problem any more, but has been during development). These patches add lz4 and lz4hc compression

[PATCH 0/6] Move the infor for the help/man page in the source
The following series implement a way to generate the help messages and the btrfs man page from the sources comments for the "btrfs" commanda . The syntax and the detailed help of every subcommand are stored in the comments before the function which implements the subcommand. The fact that the help messages and the man page are generated from the same source should help to avoid

[PATCH] Btrfs: add tests for btrfs_get_extent V2
I''m going to be removing hole extents in the near future so I wanted to make a sanity test for btrfs_get_extent to make sure I don''t break anything in the meantime. This patch just puts btrfs_get_extent through its paces by giving it a completely unreasonable mapping to look at and make sure it is giving us back maps that make sense. [PATCH] Btrfs: set a incompat flag when setting default subvol
Older kernels would generally be able to still mount the filesystem with the default subvolume set, but it would result in a different volume being mounted, which could be an even more unpleasant suprise for users. So if you set your default subvolume, you can''t go back to older kernels. Thanks, Signed-off-by: Josef Bacik <josef@redhat.com> --- fs/btrfs/ctree.h | 4 +++-

[PATCH v2] Btrfs: return error when we specify wrong start to defrag
We need such a sanity check for wrong start when we defrag a file, otherwise, even with a wrong start that''s larger than file size, we can end up changing not only inode''s force compress flag but also FS''s incompat flags. [RFB] add LZ4 compression method to btrfs
Hi, so here it is, LZ4 compression method inside btrfs. The patchset is based on top of current Chris'' for-linus + Andi''s snappy implementation + the fixes from Li Zefan. Passes xfstests and stresstests. I haven''t measured performance on wide range of hardware or workloads, rather wanted to publish the patches before I get distracted again. I''d like to ask

[PATCH v1 0/2] Btrfs-progs: commands "resolve inode" and "resolve logical"
The kernel patch series just sent (Subject: "Btrfs: scrub: print path to corrupted files and trigger nodatasum fixup") introduces two new ioctls to do in-kernel filesystem path construction. This series provides the corresponding userspace changes, adding two new commands to the btrfs utility: -- btrfs resolve inode [-v] <inode> <path> resolves an <inode> to all

[PATCH v3 0/5] btrfs-progs: scrub interface
This is the next patch series for scrub userland tools. Change log v1->v2: - commands now reachable as "btrfs scrub ..." instead of "btrfs filesystem scrub ..." - ability to scrub a single device instead of a whole file system - superfluous command line options removed - resume is now a separate command ("scrub resume") instead of "scrub start -r" -

[PATCH] Btrfs: allow compressed extents to be merged during defragment
The rule originally comes from nocow writing, but snapshot-aware defrag is a different case, the extent has been writen and we''re not going to change the extent but add a reference on the data. So we''re able to allow such compressed extents to be merged into one bigger extent if they''re pointing to the same data. Signed-off-by: Liu Bo <bo.li.liu@oracle.com> ---

[PATCH] Btrfs: fall back to non-inline if we don't have enough space
If cow_file_range_inline fails with ENOSPC we abort the transaction which isn''t very nice. This really shouldn''t be happening anyways but there''s no sense in making it a horrible error when we can easily just go allocate normal data space for this stuff. can't snapshot
Good morning Btrfs list, I am trying to create a subvolume of a directory tree (approximately 1.1 million subvolumes under nfs1). The following error is thrown and without the wiki I don''t know what argument is needed. I am running kernel 3.1.0-rc4. [root@btrfs ~]# btrfs sub snapshot /btrfs/nfs1/ /btrfs/snaps/ Invalid arguments for subvolume snapshot [root@btrfs ~]# btrfs sub list

[PATCH] Btrfs: allow partial ordered extent completion
We currently have this problem where you can truncate pages that have not yet been written for an ordered extent. We do this because the truncate will be coming behind to clean us up anyway so what''s the harm right? Well if truncate fails for whatever reason we leave an orphan item around for the file to be cleaned up later. But if the user goes and truncates up the file and tries to
