[PATCH] ocfs2: Update VFS inode's id info after reflink.
In reflink we update the id info in the disk but forget to update the corresponding information in the VFS inode. So update them accordingly in case we want to preserve the attributes. chown/quota bug in ext3
Hi, there appears to be a bug w.r.t. chown and quotas in ext3. In particular, if you "chown" a file on a filesystem with userquotas enabled, the quota charge in not transfered. ditto "chgrp" and group quotas. This happens because i_op->setattr has been redefined for files, and ext3_setattr doesn't do the DQUOT_TRANSFER like it should. I have fixed it by adding a

[PATCH] Btrfs: use i_version instead of our own sequence
We''ve been keeping around the inode sequence number in hopes that somebody would use it, but nobody uses it and people actually use i_version which serves the same purpose, so use i_version where we used the incore inode''s sequence number and that way the sequence is updated properly across the board, and not just in file write. is this null block OK?
Hi, A system running ext3 crashed this afternoon (nothing to do with ext3, bad network driver). Is was saving a file from emacs when it happened. The file system is 0.06b and had ordered data as the mount option. Let me emphasize this was running ext3 pure, not with SnapFS or InterMezzo layered on top of it. strace reveals that Emacs does open("existing file name", O_TRUNC |

btrfs-convert crashes
I have a 1.5 TB (1,475,720,773,632) partition that I wanted to convert from ext4 to btrfs. It is currently used as / for ubuntu 10.10. I booted into 11.04 beta2 and tried a ''btrfs-convert /dev/sdc1'', but after about 20 minutes it segfaulted. I performed a: sck.ext4 -cDfty -C 0 /dev/sdc1 After everything was clean, I downloaded the debugging symbols for btrfs-convert and

[PATCH] Btrfs: allow subvol deletion by unprivileged user with -o user_subvol_rm_allowed
Add a mount option user_subvol_rm_allowed that allows users to delete a (potentially non-empty!) subvol when they would otherwise we allowed to do an rmdir(2). We duplicate the may_delete() checks from the core VFS code to implement identical security checks (minus the directory size check). [BUG?] There is a possibility that 'i_ino' overflows
Hi, In btrfs, inode number is increased each time a new file or directory is made. Therefore, if the making deletion of the file is repeated, value of ''i_ino'' increases rapidly. For example, inode number changes as follows. $ touch foo $ ls -i foo 266 foo $ rm foo $ touch bar $ ls -i bar 267 bar $ And then, length of ''i_ino'' and

[PATCH 0/5] OCFS2 quota fixes
Hello, the following series of patches fixes some issues with OCFS2 quotas. The first patch modifies VFS quota locking, the next patch uses the fact to simplify OCFS2 quota locking and solves a few deadlock issues. The third and the fourth patches fix another possible deadlocks in OCFS2 quota code and the last patch is a minor cleanup. Honza

help with permissions
Hi, i have a rather weird and also problematic use case. My NAS provides permissions but I don't know how. The share is mounted using unix extensions and I am seeing user IDs. However my /local/ filesystem refuses me to allow to do anything unless I am root or set the noperms flag (ostensibly). This means that locally write access is denied but not remotely. The local user is UID 1000.

[PATCH nbdkit 4/4] Add linuxdisk plugin.
From: "Richard W.M. Jones" <rjones@redhat.com> This plugin allows you to create a complete ext2 filesystem in a GPT partitioned disk image. This can be attached as a disk to a Linux virtual machine. It is implemented using libext2fs (the same as supermin). Although there is some overlap with nbdkit-iso-plugin and nbdkit-floppy-plugin, the implementations and use cases of all

[RFC] The reflink(2) system call.
Hi everyone, I described the reflink operation at the Linux Storage & Filesystems Workshop last month. Originally implemented as an ocfs2-specific ioctl, the consensus was that it should be a syscall from the get-go. Here's some first-cut patches. For people who have not seen reflink, either at LSF or on the ocfs2 wiki, the first patch contains Documentation/filesystems/reflink.txt to

[PATCH 9-10/10] Quota support for disabling sparse feature
Hi, I'm sending a patch for proper quota support when disabling sparse feature. The second patch fixes a minor problem in tunefs.ocfs2 when disabling the sparse feature. In a few days I plan to resend the whole "quota support" series with all the changes people request included... Honza

[PATCH 0/7] OCFS2 locking fixes and lockdep annotations
Hi, the first four patches in this series fix locking problems in OCFS2 quota code (three of them can lead to potential deadlocks). The fifth patch reorders ip_alloc_sem for directories to be acquired before localalloc locks. Mark would you please merge these? The last two patches implement lockdep annotations for OCFS2 cluster locks. We annotate all the cluster locks except for special ones

[RFC][PATCH] btrfs orphan code
Hello, I want to throw this out here now that I''ve got most of the heavy lifting done for this code to make sure what I''m doing is ok for now. I''ve added an ORPHAN_DIR item key to have a hidden dir per root. Right now it just does it for whatever the default root is on mount, but I''m going to fix that to do the orphan dir check/creation on lookup of a

compare st_mode & 07777, or Aix dirs always differ
Under Aix directories have the mode 024xxxx instead of the customary 04xxxx. Because of this when you sync a directory to or from an Aix system it's never up to date. Here is a patch which fixes this. It causes rsync to look at only the bits that chmod actually influences, 07777, when deciding whether or not the modes differ. I was surprised there wasn't an existing constant for 07777,
