[PATCH] speed up snapshot dropping
This patch contains two changes to avoid unnecessary tree block reads during snapshot dropping. First, check tree block''s reference count and flags before reading the tree block. if reference count > 1 and there is no need to update backrefs, we can avoid reading the tree block. Second, save when snapshot was created in root_key.offset. we can compare block pointer''s

[PATCH 1/2] btrfs: document where we use BUG_ON instead of error handling
Document those places in the btrfs code which are BUGing on non-fatal error conditions that should be handled by proper error paths. This makes it easier to distinguish between what needs fixing versus which BUG_ON''s we might want to keep (to trap code bugs, unexpected inconsistencies, etc). Do this with a trivial macro, ''btrfs_fixable_bug_on'' which just defines to

[PATCH] Btrfs-progs: add skinny metadata support to progs V3
This fixes up the progs to properly deal with skinny metadata. This adds the -x option to mkfs and btrfstune for enabling the skinny metadata option. This also makes changes to fsck so it can properly deal with the skinny metadata entries. Thanks, Signed-off-by: Josef Bacik <jbacik@fusionio.com> --- V2->V3: update the mkfs.btrfs man page with the new option This is based on

ext3 + autofs4 yields kernel oops
I recently applied the ext3-2.4-0.9.6-249.gz patch to an otherwise unmodified official-from-Linus 2.4.9 kernel. I built both ext2 and ext3 in as modules, did the "tune2fs -j" incantation, and rebooted. Mounting / as ext3 worked fine. But a few seconds later, my startup scripts tried to launch a squad of automounter daemons, and that didn't work so well. A stream of kernel

Fixes pushed to the stable tree
Hello everyone, I''ve pushed out all my fixes so far from btrfs-unstable to btrfs-stable. I''ll update the hotfixes section of the wiki once Toei Rei confirms this update fixes her oopsen. These don''t include any disk format changes, but they do fix checksumming errors and an ugly use after free memory corrupting bug. They also improve performance over every workload

[PATCH] Make sure all dirty blocks are written at commit time
Write dirty block groups may allocate new block, thus may add new delayed back ref. btrfs_run_delayed_refs may make some block groups dirty. commit_cowonly_roots does not handle the recursion properly, so some dirty blocks can be left unwritten at commit time. This patch move btrfs_run_delayed_refs into the loop that writes dirty block groups, and make the code not break out of the loop until

[PATCH 1/2] btrfs-progs: mixed back ref support
This patch adds mixed back ref support for btrfs programs. The mixed back ref is a new disk format. back compatilibity is still not implemented. To try the new disk format, you need fresh formatted btrfs. [RFC PATCH V2] Btrfs: introduce extent buffer cache for each i-node
This patch introduce extent buffer cache for every i-node. By this way, we can save the search time and reduce the lock contention of the root because we needn''t search the item from the root of b+ tree. Implementation: - add two pointers of extent buffer into btrfs_inode struct, one for nodes/leaves of fs/file tree, the other for nodes/leaves of the log tree. - add a variant to tell

[PATCH 3/4] update nodatacow code
Hello, This patch simplifies the nodatacow checker. If all references were created after the latest snapshot, then we can avoid COW safely. This patch also updates run_delalloc_nocow to do more fine-grained checking. [PATCH] Btrfs: fix crash in log replay with qgroups enabled
When replaying a log tree with qgroups enabled, tree_mod_log_rewind does a sanity-check of the number of items against the maximum possible number. It calculates that number with the nodesize of fs_root. Unfortunately fs_root is not yet set at this stage. So instead use the nodesize from tree_root, which is already initialized. [PATCH] Btrfs-progs: make btrfsck aware of free space inodes
The new xfstests will run fsck against the volume to make sure we didn''t introduce any inconsistencies, which is nice except we will error out immediately if we mount with inode_cache. We need to make btrfsck skip the special free space cache items and then just assume that we have a link for the free space cache inode item. This makes btrfsck pass with success on a fs with inode cache

[PATCH] Btrfs: optimize reada_for_balance
This patch does two things. First we no longer explicitly read in the blocks we''re trying to readahead. For things like balance_level we may never actually use the blocks so this just adds uneeded latency, and balance_level and split_node will both read in the blocks they care about explicitly so if the blocks need to be waited on it will be done there. Secondly we no longer drop the

[PATCH] Progs: update convert for uninitialized block groups
Hello, There is a new feature ''uninitialized block groups'' in ext4. Block and inode bitmaps in uninitialized block groups are uninitialized. This confuses the converter. The fix is call ext2fs_new_inode for each block group at open time. It set up uninitialized block and inode bitmaps appropriately. This patch also contains some other minor fixes. Thank you, Signed-off-by: Yan

[PATCH] Btrfs: compressed file size ioctl
Returns a file''s size on disk. Had been posted by Chris Ball over a year ago (http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.file-systems.btrfs/2873). Chris Mason suggested a couple of improvements back then, which I have implemented in this version: - use u64 to return the result - replaced the loop while (1) { struct btrfs_ordered_extent *ordered;

[PATCH] Btrfs-progs: add a free space cache checker to fsck
In trying to track down a weird tree log problem I wanted to make sure that the free space cache was actually valid, which we currently have no way of doing. So this patch adds a bunch of support for the free space cache code and then a checker to fsck. Basically we go through and if we can actually load the free space cache then we will walk the extent tree and verify that the free space cache
