[RFC] Btrfs: Allow the compressed extent size limit to be modified v2
Provide for modification of the limit of compressed extent size
utilizing mount-time configuration settings.
The size of compressed extents was limited to 128K, which
leads to fragmentation of the extents (although the extents
themselves may still be located contiguously). This limit is
put in place to ease the RAM required when spreading compression
across several CPUs, and to make sure the

[PATCH] btrfs: rename the option to nospace_cache
Rename no_space_cache option to nospace_cache to be more consistent with
the rest, where the simple prefix ''no'' is used to negate an option.
The option has been introduced during the -rc1 cycle and there are has not been
widely used, so it''s safe.

[RFC] btrfs, udev and btrfs
Hi all,
below a configuration for udev/initramfs which I propose to scan the block
devices looking for a multi-volume btrfs filesystem.
Btrfs has the capability to span a file-system on multiple device. In order to
do that, the involved devices have to be "registered" in the kernel.
In order to do that there are two options:
# btrfs device scan <device> (or the old

[PATCH 4/9] drm/nouveau/debugfs: Replace five seq_printf() calls by seq_puts() in nouveau_debugfs_pstate_get()
Date: Sat, 15 Apr 2023 22:02:31 +0200
Five strings which did not contain a data format specification should
be put into a sequence. Thus use the corresponding function ?seq_puts?.
This issue was detected by using the Coccinelle software.

Reg: Workaround to use pivot_root while using "rootfs" for "/" ?
Hi All,
I am trying to start a lxc container using libvirt and I am facing an
issue due to pivot_root.
The return code from the system call ?pivot_root? is EINVAL (Invalid
arguments).
I isolated the issue to this specific condition check within the system
call.
This is an code snippet from fs/namespace.c::pivot_root

[PATCH]improve suspend_evtchn lock processing
While doing migration, sometimes found suspend lock file was not unlinked in previous operations, then there is an obsolete lock file in place, which causes the current and later migration cannot get lock. That happens seldomly but do happen.
After checking the source code, I found there are some places that potentially cause lock file unlinked, including:
1) in lock_suspend_event() function,

[PATCH] Btrfs: allow subvol deletion by unprivileged user with -o user_subvol_rm_allowed
Add a mount option user_subvol_rm_allowed that allows users to delete a
(potentially non-empty!) subvol when they would otherwise we allowed to do
an rmdir(2). We duplicate the may_delete() checks from the core VFS code
to implement identical security checks (minus the directory size check).

[PATCH drm-misc-next v8 02/12] drm: debugfs: provide infrastructure to dump a DRM GPU VA space
This commit adds a function to dump a DRM GPU VA space and a macro for
drivers to register the struct drm_info_list 'gpuvas' entry.
Most likely, most drivers might maintain one DRM GPU VA space per struct
drm_file, but there might also be drivers not having a fixed relation
between DRM GPU VA spaces and a DRM core infrastructure, hence we need the
indirection via the driver iterating

[PATCH] Btrfs: add "nocompress" mount option
In btrfs if we mount with "compress" we have no way to disable
compressing by remounting
(mount -o remount /mnt/btrfs), only by unmounting and mounting without
"compress".
This patch adds "nocompress" mount option which can be used to remount
the filesystem without compression:
# mount -o remount,nocompress /mnt/btrfs
This option is usefull in cases when we have a

[RFC, PATCH 21/24] i386 Vmi proc node
Add a /proc node for the VMI sub-arch, which gives information on the VMI ROM
detected using /proc/vmi/info and a list of kernel annotations in
/proc/vmi/annotations.
The timing information is VMware specific, and should probably be put into a
separate /proc node (and a separate patch for our internal use).

[PATCH 1/2] Btrfs: fix unblocked autodefraggers when remount

so it is wrong that checking the autodefrag is close or not at
btrfs_remount_prepare(). Fix it.

[PATCH] Btrfs: proper metadata -ENOSPC handling
This patch finally gives us full proper -ENOSPC handling for btrfs. Now
whenever you do a btrfs_start_transaction, you must specify the number of items
you are planning to add/delete/modify. The worst case number of blocks that
could be modified by changing that number of items will be calculated and
checked against the amount of free space in the space_info where the root you
are modifying

[PATCH V2] Btrfs: fix subvolume mount by name problem when default mount subvolume is set
We create two subvolumes (meego_root and meego_home) in
btrfs root directory. And set meego_root as default mount
subvolume. After we remount btrfs, meego_root is mounted
to top directory by default. Then when we try to mount
meego_home (subvol=meego_home) to a subdirectory, it failed.
The problem is when default mount subvolume is set to
meego_root, we search meego_home in meego_root but can not

[RFC] aptitude & BTRFS slowness
Hi all,
I suffered a lot for the terrific performance of aptitude on a BTRFS filesystem.
I don''t think that BTRFS is a slow filesystem, but it seems that some aptitude
(or dpkg) patterns are capable to highlight the btrfs slowness in some corner
case.
In order to alleviate this problem, I wrote a small script which calls
aptitude with the LD_PRELOAD libeatmyadata library. And now I
