Hello list, I'm trying to install CentOS 5.2 on LVM on a SW-RAID level 1, but I'm unable to understand how to use the installer correctly. What I'm trying to do is emulate something I've already done with another distro where: sda5 \ RAID1 --> /boot sdb5 / sda6 \ RAID1 --> LVM --> /root, /home, /usr, /var... etc. sdb6 / I've succesfully

device-mapper multipath
I am attempting to get multipath working with device-mapper (CentOS 4.2 and 4.3). It works on EVERY install of mine from RH (also v4.2, 4.3), but the same multipath.conf imported to all my installs of CentOS do not work. Note that I have tested a working 4.2 configuration file from RH on CentOS 4.2 and a working 4.3 configuration (it changed slightly) on CentOS 4.3. Neither worked. Our production

extremely slow syncing on btrfs with 2.6.39.1
I''ve been monitoring the lists for a while now but didn''t see this problem mentioned in particular: I''ve got a fairly standard desktop system at home, 700gb WD drive, nothing special, with 2 btrfs filesystems and some snapshots. The system runs for days, and I''ve noticed unusual disk activity the other evening - turns out that it''s taking forever to

How to Code Random Nested Variables within Two-way Fixed Model in lmer or lme
Hi All, I am frustrated by mixed-effects model! I have searched the web for hours, and found lots on the nested anova, but nothing useful on my specific case, which is: a random factor (C) is nested within one of the fixed-factors (A), and a second fixed factor (B) is crossed with the first fixed factor: C/A A B A x B My question: I have a functioning model using the aov command (see

Utility tool for dm-ioband.
Hi everyone, I made a utility tool for dm-ioband version 0.0.4, named iobandctl. It enables you to easily apply I/O bandwidth control to an entire disk, and manage it. It helps you set the percentage of bandwidth to give each partition, and each user, process, group, or cgroup. (You are not able to use cgroup support yet, because the dm-ioband patch to enable cgroup support

Preserve owner/group on TARGET
Hello, I've been using rsync for some time as a data migration tool, but this time I'm trying to do something a little different, and I can't seem to make things work the way I want. Essentially, I want to rsync data from a source, but I want the owner/group/perms on the TARGET to not change (i.e. not get updated with the owner/group/perms from the source). In testing I discovered

Assertion failure in do_get_write_access() at transaction.c:609:
Hi all (and developers in particular) I just got bitten by this Assertion. The one that starts as in the subject, and ends with: "!(((jh2bh(jh))->b_state & (1UL << BH_Lock)) != 0)" Google reminds me that it was mentioned a few times earlier this year, but I couldn't find any statement saying that it has been fixed. I got this in a 2.4.16 kernel, though the

Install (not boot) from USB drive?
Is it possible to install directly from a DVD iso image downloaded to a USB external drive as a file on a FAT filesystem? That is, if I burn the boot.iso on a CD and boot it, is there any way to mount the USB drive and install from the DVD image file there (some target machines don't have a DVD drive). -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell at gmail.com
