Backporting to 2.6.27 and below
A couple of weeks ago it was mentioned that btrfs in the stand alone tree would be patched to support 2.6.27 with older versions coming after. Has anyone actually done these patches? I''d like to get btrfs running on 2.6.26(Debian Lenny kernel) and if no one has done any code towards it I''d be happy to do it. Lee -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe

R: [PATCH 2/2] Btrfs-progs: add mount-option command
Hi Seto, please could you update also the man page too ? Why it was not provided a way to clear a *single* flag ? To me it seems a bit too long to clear all the flag (btrfs mount-option clear) and then set the right one. As user interface I suggest something like chmod: btrfs mount-option set +ssd,skip_balance -nodatacow /dev/sdX or btrfs mount-option set =ssd,skip_balance,nodatacow

minimum kernel version for btrfsprogs.0.20?
Creating a btrfs file system using btrfs-progs-0.20.rc1.20130308git704a08c-1.fc19, and either kernel 3.6.10-4.fc18 or 3.9.0-0.rc3.git0.3.fc19, makes a file system that cannot be mounted by kernel 3.6.10-4.fc18. It can be mounted by kernel 3.8.4. I haven''t tested any other 3.8, or any 3.7 kernels. Is this expected? dmesg reports: [ 300.014764] btrfs: disk space caching is enabled [

btrfs filesystem balance /mnt/btrfs -> segmentation fault (kernel BUG at fs/btrfs/relocation.c:3296!)
I''ve enabled "extended inode refs" and "skinny metadata extent refs" with btrfstune. Then, I''ve tried running "btrfs filesystem balance" - unfortunately it segfaulted. (not sure if I should run balance operation after using btrfstune with -r and -x)? This is with 3.10 kernel with "Btrfs: make backref walking code handle skinny metadata"

Kernel oops when running bonnie++ on btrfs
I wanted to see how btrfs compares to other filesystems so I have been running bonnie++ on it. While the results are good(much faster then ext2) every once in awhile I get a kernel oops. I am testing on xubuntu 8.10 with the 2.6.27-7-686 kernel using the latest git sources. Most of the time the oops happens within 20min of running bonnie++ but sometimes it takes a few hours. This happens with and

Are the connections between Domain Controlers encrypted?
Hi, Just that is my question: Are the connection between DC encripted?. I'm planning to create a secondary DC on a external dedicated server and i want to know if the connections are secure, because is not a good idea to have authentication data traveling through internet without any kind of encription... My main DC have ldap through ssl activated and working fine, but i don't know if

[RFC] Move btrfsck in to the btrfs command
NOTE: in order to apply this patch you should: git mv btrfsck.c cmd-fsck.c This patch moves btrfsck in to "btrfs fsck". It also adds support for symlinks to the btrfs binary to retain compablity, =) I think something should be done to the help description but i''m not sure what... Anyway, feedback is welcome. -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe

[RFC] expand options of btrfs-set-seeding
Hi Rich, Currently we had btrfs-set-seeding for btrfstune. But btrfstune had more options: usage: btrfstune [options] device -S value positive value will enable seeding, zero to disable, negative is not allowed -r enable extended inode refs -x enable skinny metadata extent refs -f force to clear flags, make sure that you are aware of the dangers If I want to add more options for

The biggest one is a fix for fstrim, and there''s a fix for on-disk free space cache. Others are small fixes and cleanups. The last three have been sent weeks ago. The patchset is also available in this repo: git://repo.or.cz/linux-btrfs-devel.git for-chris Note there''s a small confict with Al Viro''s vfs changes. Li Zefan (11): Btrfs: add pinned extents to

[RFC] btrfs-progs: fix sparse checking and warnings
Hi gang, I was a little surprised to see that patch go by recently which fixed an endian bug. I went to see how sparse checking looked and it was.. broken. I got it going again in my Fedora environment. Most of the patches are just cleanups, but there *were* three real bugs lurking in all that sparse warning spam. So I maintain that it''s worth our time to keep it going and fix
