Sorting directory lists (again)
Hello list, I know this has been discussed before (June 2007 looks to be the most recent time), so apologies for covering (sort of) old ground. The lowdown is that samba uses readdir to get its directory listing and this is returned in whatever order the filesystem sees as appropriate (using ext3, it seems to be related to mtime). I have a device which accesses a share using CIFS and presents

Samba Files Sorting
I want to auto sorting by date for share folder files. Because like VLC player when I using it via samba share to play video, there is no sorting files option and I have to manually search.Such as minidlna there is "force_sort_criteria=" options. I wonder whether samba also have this option? Best Regards

Pruning embedded samba 3.6 installation
I'm using the Yocto Project to build an embedded distro, to which I'm adding Samba 3.6 from OpenEmbedded. Doing so increases my root file system from about 63MB to 175MB. I seem to be building a large Samba server with a small ancillary operating system tacked onto it. I listed the files in my file system image, and see that lots of the commands are quite large. I understand that Samba 4

seq() function accuracy inacceptable (PR#8779)
Full_Name: Johannes Prix Version: 2.1.1 OS: WinXP, SuSE Linux Submission from: (NULL) (137.208.41.195) The seq-command produces unnescessary inaccurate results, which can be extremely annoying. I absolutely do not see the nescessity of numerical garbage to appear in the following simple case. E.g. try this: > seq ( 61.55 , 62.00 , by=0.01 ) - round ( seq ( 61.55 , 62.00 , by=0.01 ) ,

CTDB upgrade to SAMBA 4.8.3
Hello, i upgraded my ctdb cluster (3 nodes) from samba 4.7.7 to 4.8.3. Followed the steps under "policy" in this wikipage https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Upgrading_a_CTDB_cluster. I shutdown all CTDB nodes and upgraded them. After the upgrade i started all nodes and ctdb status shows: Number of nodes:3 pnn:0 192.168.199.52   OK (THIS NODE) pnn:1 192.168.199.53   OK pnn:2

Samba CTDB clustering panic
Hi all, I'm setting up a clustered environment on CentOS 7.6.1810 with Samba 4.8.3-6.el7_6 and the corresponding ctdb package. I'm using FreeIPA 4.6.4 as my auth backend. Currently I'm running into this bug https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13465 however I would assume that it is fixed in the latest release (dated 29July 2019). It crashed once CTDB runs testparm to check the

Problem with heaps of sleeping smb processes due to panic action
Hi! We're running Samba4 (Version 4.0.0beta4) and are experiencing problems with smb_panic actions which result in loads of sleep processes in the end taking down the entire machine. This problem did not exist in prior builds for us (upgraded from alpha17 to beta3 and then beta4). Are there any specific log extracts I can supply that can help someone pinpoint the problem? log.smbd seems to

samba4.0.16 smbd internal error
Dear list, I keep getting strange "internal error"s from smbd. I increased the log level to 3 and pasted the relevant log snippet. Does anyone know (or guess) what's going on? What should I check? Any direction to investigate? Thanks a lot, Sascha ? =============================================================== [2014/03/24 13:28:49.787910, ?0, pid=13041, effective(3000026, 20),
