Problems with NT logons, Samba as PDC
Hi!
We're using Samba as PDC, and recently had a strange crash on the
system (none of the NT-machines authenticated anymore). I re-created
the user database and passwords on the server (TurboLinux 2.2.14-5,
with Samba 2.0.6 & 2.1alpha for auth.) and also re-newed the profiles
making 'em local on the NT-workstations.
Sometimes when the NT-PC gets rebooted, I can't authenticate it

I have never used the rsync command. The above command was used by a former sysadmin to "synchronize" two servers. However when I ran the command

ifname in openvz container
Hi!
Is there any way to specify ethernet device name to be created inside
the openvz container?
I could find such info at http://libvirt.org/formatdomain.html#elementsNICS.
If I do as below I get br0 as ethernet device inside VM whereas I'd like
it to be eth0.
$ cat ovz.xml

Tricky VPN Configurations
Hello:
The documentation does not have the following use cases very well
defined or described.
I have created a PDF file that Tinc-VPN can use to public
and I would be happy to make more PDF files for usage with the examples
on the web site.
There are 2 pages in the PDF file attached, the first page is a
production setup and the page is a test setup wholly contained within a
single server.

Looking for some guidance with the Asterisk 12 ARI/API
Hi - I figured this was probably the best place to ask this question
Is there anyone that has done anything practical with the API and/or Real
Time Database config?
If so, I would like to pick your brains if I may.
Thanks - G

kickstart - how do I specify I20_block driver
Hi,
I have alot of kickstart and scripting going on as I provision lots of
machines, and every now and then I run into a pesky machine or three
that's still got that Adeptec zero-channel RAID card sitting on the
board. Normally I like to rip it our and throw something more robust
in, but if it's a cache machine or whatever, I leave it in.
It makes my kickstart file useless until I

Asterisk API
Hello Folks;
I have an Asterisk server
Asterisk 11.7.0 built by root @xxxxxxxxxxx on a x86_64 running Linux on
2013-12-27 18:47:44 UTC
No FreePBX, no AsteriskNOW, no Elastix. Just Asterisk.
Is there an API out there that anyone knows of that I can pass commands,
etc to Asterisk? Creating Extensions, adding voicemail users, setting up
voicemail, etc?
I'm kind of clueless. Is there something

Samba4 Internal DNS CNAME entries
I am currently in the progress of testing the replacement of a Windows
2003 DC with a Samba4-based one.
In the DNS of old Windows DC we had CNAME entries to alias
www.domain.com to serverX.domain.com and ftp.domain.com to
serverY.domain.com. This is working and can be tested successfully
with dig
The CNAME entries were correctly replicated across to the internal DNS
server on the new Samba4 DC

Two "pre-migration" questions
I have read the migration docs. They seem to relate to migrating from one
imap product to dovecot on the same server. I'm interested in migrating my
Maildir-formatted email from one server to another.
1. Can I tar my ~/mail directory on serverX.com, untar it on a different
physical serverY.com (initially with a different domain name), and still see
my mail when I access imap.serverY.com

rpcclient adddriver WERR_BADFILE
I'm not having any luck using the rpcclient adddriver functions to
install windows point-and-print drivers into print$.
The add printer wizard fails after copying the files to \\SERVERX\print
$\W32X86 so I am trying to install using rpcclient to see if it tells
me anything more.
I'm using the cups v6 drivers to test with. I get the same thing
trying my HP Laserjet 2100 drivers.

export DISPLAY from Dom0
Hi all,
I test from 2 month now the xen project and i reach today a custom config with xen wich is stable and so much confortable.
Just a little problem with a GUI view for the XenU domains: as I read some message from archive devel-xen that "startx" from a domain doesn''t work, I try to work with Dom0:
1. startx from Dom0
2. open xterm
3. command: xhost +
4. command: ssh

RC1 problem? (Conversation over two IAX2 streams = nasty, gappy audio) (fwd)
Hi,
With reference to Andrew Kohlsmith's problem with calls over IAX2 going
dead after 1minute 5 seconds:
This is caused by a bug in the "optimized bridging" code in chan_iax2.c
interacting badly with the IAX2 jitter buffer.
This problem only affect calls where:
1) There are 2 or more servers doing optimised bridging between the
end-points of the call.
ie a call like A-end

Tricky VPN Configurations
The use cases that I outlined in the use case examples pdf file are
pushing my limits of understanding the documentation as contained in the
1.1pre9 PDF manual.
The self contained example is tricky because I created 4 ip-address on
the eth0 device (192.168.1.30/31/32/33) so I could test a 4 node VPN
that lives entirely within a single server.
But the tinc command line utility is written assuming

Problem with creating a new GPO
Hello.
I have a Problem with creating a GPO on Samba. Each time I try to create
a new one, it shows "The security id may not be assigned as the owner of
this object". I've already checked the sysvol-folder and it seems to
have the correct permissions. I also checked the Account-Permissions
(I'm the build-in Administrator, when trying this) and I also checked
the connection

CentOS 5.7 gives me a blank screen after bootup
Hi all,
I have an odd problem, for which I couldn't find any suggestions on google.
A CentOS 5.7x64 gives me a blank screen on bootup, both to the 17" LCD
monitor connected to the VGA port, and to the KVMOVIP device
built-into the server,
I can see the GRUB boot loader, and everything booting up, upto the
point where it says "Waiting for driver initialization.", then it goes

Despite using the usually successful methods of booting into another

Tried:-

Gateway?
This is going to sound like a dumb-ass question:
The device that allows you to bridge Asterisk (or any other PBX) into the
pstn.. What is that called? So, I guess, not a SIP trunk, but the device
that actually IS the SIP trunk.
Am I making sense?
Thanks

Asterisk 11 - looking for ideas and a possible solution
First, let me thank all of you for your input - I was looking for some sort
of an API to interface with Asterisk via REST. Python, Ruby or something
that we could "webify" using PHP.
Some of you suggested Asterisk 12 - I love the idea, but unfortunately, we
have an Asterisk 11 install. It seems, and I could be wrong, that Asterisk
12 is a whole new 'ball game' so to speak. The
