Weird netinstall issue
Hi.
The other day I burnt a copy of a CentOS 6.4 64 bit netinstall disc,
verified the disc which passed & about a third of the way through the
install it informed me that there was no CD in the drive & refused to
carry on.
So I burnt another & the same thing happened. So using the same disk
burner & the same batch of disks, I burnt a copy of a Debian 7.1
netinstall & it

erase disk
Hi.
I have a CentOS server (a Dell 860) with two drives in it.
One is running CentOS 6.4 which I want to keep & the bigger 400GB drive
has Debian 7 on it which I want to erase & use for backups.
Which is the best way to go about achieving my intended goal? The Debian
drive is not mounted when Centos is booted.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Phil...

Live CD iso
Hi folks
I'm just about to start using Centos again. I used it briefly a couple of years
ago but found the switch to rpm a bit much after using deb for 5 years. Now
there seem to be a lot of changes on the deb front so i'm going to try again
with rpm.
I noticed that there is now a live CD (as well as the DVD) instead of the six
CDs that i used before (iirc). I would just be grateful

EPEL problem
Hi, all.
I'm trying to install the EPEL repo on a fully up to date CentOS 6.4.
I'm using wget to download from my usual source but after I install it
via `sudo rpm -ivh epel-xxxxx` it's not actually there in
`/etc/yum.repos.d`.
Trying to install it again, Yum just tells me it's already installed.
I've no idea where it is installed if it is (which I don't think it is)

cheap cloud providors
Hey guys,
Apologies in advance if this question is in poor taste. But I've really
fallen in love with learning about the cassanrdra database. The only
problem is that it doesn't run very well on an t1.micro instance at amazon
and the larger sizes are quite expensive. An m1.small can do the trick,
while still not optimal. So I was wonder if there was any real value in the
cloud or even

Netinstall wants to use wlan0
Hi, Folks --
I'm setting up an Acer Aspire 5250 as a Christmas gift, CentOS 6 netinstall
insists on trying to configure wlan0 but I'm using a wired DSL connection,
consequently netinstall fails and only offers the option to Retry.
How can I get it to bypass the wlan0 idea and go straight to eth0...?
Thanks,

true, i did not say how i created cd's.
i used k3b as it is easier, less to remember, than using command line.
usb's sticks were created using unetbootin and fedora-liveusb-creator.
yes, i did not mention that i tried with 2 usb sticks. failure was
same, did not feel it mattered. failure is

"installation source" specification for netinstall
Trying to specify the "installation source" in the configuration of
netinstall for centos 7 (7.1). Three places on the web said
mirror.centos.org/centos/7/os/x86_64/
But that configuration page probes, then it says, "Error setting up base
repository".
What's the magic needed?
Also, if anyone knows specs for epel and others, they might help too.
Thanks.
