[ANNOUCE] iproute2 update
A new version of the iproute2 utilities is available to handle the new
extensions for 2.6.7.
* Based on the last known good version of iproute2 from Alexy
* Included most of the vendor patches (except for the stupid ones).
* Got rid of lots of the glibc workarounds, I intend this to build
and run on 2.6 (and 2.4) only.
* Fixed some parsing and formatting bugs.
* Added gigabit as a rate.

Maildir++ quota inconsistency
I've found what I think is an inconsistency in the Maildir quota
implementation. According to the Maildir++ quota specification at:
http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html
Maildir++ quota can be specified as maximum size, or maximum number of
messages, or even both. The size specification is supposed to be in bytes.
So I could use '10000000S' to set a quota of

tc htb stats
I have an htb qdisc setup and it is shaping my traffic wonderfully but
I''ve just recently started taking a look at the output from the command
tc -s class ls dev eth?
Looking at the "rate" line I thought to myself..."cool I can use this to
graph throughput avg.es without having to worry about the "Sent bytes"
rolling over or being lost when the htb qdisc is

Human readable output
Hello,
I would like to suggest an option to rsync that makes it output sizes
in human readable units, instead of always using bytes. So
Total file size: 30864401502 bytes
would be output as:
Total file size: 28.7 GiB
Similarly for mebibytes and kibibytes.
If there's already such an option, then I'm sorry -- I didn't find it
in the manual pages.

Ogg Vorbis and Bitrate
In Ogg Vorbis, does one kilobit equal 1000 bits, or 1024 bits?

Setting @request.env["HTTP_REFERER"] in an integration test
Hi.
I would like to set @request.env["HTTP_REFERER"] in an integration
test, but due to its nature, I would naturally set this value to the
previousle request url. How do I do that.
Thanks.

possible bug: using assert_recognizes with extras
Hi.
I am trying to use the extras hash parameter in assert_recognizes. I
am using.
assert_recognizes(expected_options, path, extras={}, message=nil)
I have something similar to the documentation:
assert_recognizes {:controller => ''items'', :action => ''list'', :id => ''1'', :view => ''print''},

Prepared SQL statements
Dear all great developers.
I wonder if there is any work being done or thoughts being shared
regarding prepared SQL statements.
Currently I am in heavy need of tuning SQL INSERTS that insert large
(3MB) images into blobs.
I am using rails 2.3.5 with postgres adapter and pg driver.
Any information would be appreciated.

libvirt doesn't boot kVM, hangs, qemu on 100% CPU
Hi folks,
it's been adventurous.
Yesterday night I've started debugging this particular
issue of why my KVMs don't boot on Ubuntu 11.10.
A first hint was apparmor, which seemed to deny access
to the LVM partitions I had assigned as disks.
After correctly configuring apparmor, or even disabling
it the issue was still the same.
After a wild goose chase, I decided to update everything,

Bandwidth requirements for 1, 000, 000 minutes a month
This may expose my ignorance, but here goes :)
I've been asked to figure out how much bandwidth would be needed to handle
1,000,000 minutes a month.
Here's the environment:
) All calls are received via SIP.
) All calls use the ulaw codec.
) Calls average 10 minutes in duration.
) The "busiest" hour will account for 10% of the daily total.
This is how I'm figuring

Advice on small office UPS
Hello Folks,
I have a couple of questions - one about a basic UPS choice I am to
make for a small UK office environment and the second about NUT
Windows support. For the UPS, I have 2 or 3 servers, a phone system
and a switch i.e. a basic :
- Dell R410 1U (2x IEC)
- Dell SC1425 1U (1x IEC)
- Mitel 3300 CXi phone system (1x IEC)
- Netgear GS748T switch (1x IEC)
It would be good to also be able

How to create a compact Speex library
Hi,
Sorry if this a repost but I want to create the
smallest Speex library possible to be put in TI's
TMS320 DSP. I'm only interested in one configuration:
5.97 Kbps narrowband. What part of source code can I
remove? Currently, when I compiled the version 1.1.12
libspeex.a library with the TI TMS320 and
Fixed-Integer options, I get around 522Kb. I would
like to reduce it to as small

I'd appreciate it.
It wouldn't be surprising if it ignores the issue, no, but some of the
IEC standards do have disclosure list.

bit/bytes
Hi everybody,
I have a theoretical question here.
A 128K stream is a 128 KiloBITS (NOT kiloBYTES) per second stream; am I
right? Is a 512k internet connection a 512 kiloBITS or 512 kiloBYTES
connection?
128 KiloBITS = 16 KiloBYTES (8 bits = 1 byte). I am wondering if a 512k
connection (upload and download) could THEORITICALLY handle 4 (512/128) or
32 (512/16) 128k streams?
I am confused

GSM codec bandwidth
I've a question about the bandwidth consumed by IAX2/GSM.
According to the wiki page, the GSM codec should run about 13 kilo-bits/sec
for a voice encoding.
However, watching gkrellm when I initiate a call to Digium, it looks like the
channel is taking a consistent 5-6 kilo-bytes/sec. That's a lot more
bandwidth than it should take. Is there perhaps a setting I have wrong
