ActiveResource - xml and json format return different results
Hi, I''m using Rails 2.1.2. and I wanted to switch ActiveResource format to JSON and thought that it will work smoothly, but unfortunately it wasn''t the case. XML and JSON formats generate different objects: XML version #<User:0xb7658440 @prefix_options={}, @attributes={"created_at"=>Mon Nov 28 11...}> JSON version #<User:0xb746af5c @prefix_options={},

ActiveResource
I''ve been sitting on an ActiveResource patch for a few weeks, waiting to get some feedback from David. But, I see other folks like Jeremy are starting to use it, so I committed my patch: http://dev.rubyonrails.org/changeset/4890 It gets all the basic operations in working order, and adds support for prefixes. I wasn''t quite sure how to pull this off. Right now, I''m

filter activeresource response body
Hello, I have an ActiveResource model that loads imperfectly structured json from a third party service. I need to catch response before its parsed by the model and make a few corrections on the json. How should I go about doing this? thanks, Slava

ActiveResource Breaking Under FastCGI
I''m developing a web service in rails which uses JSON as the transport format. I also have a front end rails site that talks to that web service to retrieve various bits of data. I''m using ActiveResource to accomplish that. When running my unit tests for the ActiveResource clients I''ve written against a WebBrick server, they all pass fine. However when I run them

Ticket #5038 ActiveResource not handling updates correctly
https://rails.lighthouseapp.com/projects/8994-ruby-on-rails/tickets/5038-activeresource-not-handling-updates-correctly I just added this ticket. I''m writing a Sinatra API to be consumed by Rails and I''ve run into an issue where the ActiveResource documentation specifies that on update you should return an HTTP 204 status with no body. The problem is that Rack doesn''t

Rails Engine ActionController::UrlGenerationError on functional tests
Hi, I'm looking for a way to solve an error I get each times I run my functional tests. I have a Rails Engine gem (isolated), I have a JSON action with a route declared. But each times I use the method get in a test I get an ActionController::UrlGenerationError exception. Here an example of code with the problem: # config/routes.rbMyEngine::Engine.routes.draw do resources :cats, only:

Some ActiveResource issues
Hi, 1. Is there any particular reason to not return ActiveResource objects when calling custom methods on Resources? Currently depending on request type, ARes returns hash or Net::HTTP::XXX responses. 2. I think know_attributes should be inheritable between ARes classes. Is there any reason to not do so? 3. custom methods can''t be directly overridden in plugins via modules, because

retrieving ActiveResource validation errors on attributes
So, this is probably a usage error... but I hope somebody knows how to make this work. I''m trying to use a RESTful ActiveResource client and print the attribute validation errors for model attributes during an update operation. I''ve been following one of the threads, and am returning a response from the server as follows: format.xml { render :xml => m.to_xml, :status =>

Specifying format in ActiveResource
Hi all, I have a need for making ActiveResource have the ability to specify the format much like you can specify the site. So, right now (unless I am not understanding the code, which could be, since I am a Rails and Ruby newbie), all calls end up at http://something/call.xml. I want to be able to call http://something/call.rss or .vcf, etc. This is stemming from the Highrise api in 37

cgi escaped basic auth data in ActiveResource?
ActiveResource basic auth currently breaks when certain chars are used in the user name and/or password field, e.g. ''@'' as part of the user name. I created a ticket on the issue[1], but closed it again as I''m not sure where the responsibility really belongs. It''s a showstopper for us, though.. Thoughts? Modifying ActiveResource classes
I''ve been struggling with an issue with ActiveResource for a bit now: when a hostname resolves for an ActiveResource request, but there''s no server on the other end to return information, ActiveResource''s timeout value doesn''t work. The request just hangs. After reviewing the ActiveResource code, I''ve realized that this is because the underlying

ActiveResource cache using memcache-client
I''ve created this class that overrides methods for find, delete, destroy, reload, and save in activeresource. The code populates a local memcache daemon and uses that cache for future find requests. I''m posting it here to get whatever feedback people have. I''m most interested in the pro/con of inheritance over a mixin and how such a module might be tested. $ cat

ActiveResource - Two simple questions
I''m struggling a bit with implementing ActiveResource on a custom RESTful API. Firstly, I can''t seem to disable the transforms it does when it parses the XML. For example "CamelCase" gets rendered as camel_case, likewise underscores get converted to dashes. The docs page for ActiveResource mentions being able to set ActiveSupport.camelise_xml = false In an

Which "get" is being used in Controller spec
Hi, I''m a bit puzzled with "get" in controller specs. When I write, it "should render index template" do get :index response.should render_template(:index) end Which "get" method is being used? I checked RDoc of RSpec and RSpec on Rails, but didn''t find "get". In Rails RDoc, I found the following "get"s. get

Harmonizing JSON/XML serialization
The way Rails handles root nodes in JSON and XML serialization is inconsistent. This has been discussed before: https://rails.lighthouseapp.com/projects/8994/tickets/2584-232-activeresource-json-doesnt-send-parameters-with-root-node This seems mostly taken care of with ActiveModel::Base.include_root_in_json, especially if/when it ends up in ActiveResource. However, there is also the issue of how
