Route globbing in Rails 3 beta 3
I was just playing around with the new routing dsl to answer someone''s question on the general rails forum. I wanted to see how Rails3 handled globbed routes. So I added this to routes.rb get ''forum/*path'' , ''forum#show'' And had the show action just display the params. with a URL of /forum/a/b/c I got {"path" => "a/b/c"}

Anyone using the rspec textmate bundle with Ruby 1.9.1
I''m now in the process of facing converting a rails app to use Ruby 1.9.1. Has anyone figured out how to use 1.9 with the RSpec bundle in textmate and preferably how to switch back and forth? -- Rick DeNatale Blog: http://talklikeaduck.denhaven2.com/ Twitter: http://twitter.com/RickDeNatale WWR: http://www.workingwithrails.com/person/9021-rick-denatale LinkedIn:

inverse_of breaks for unsaved child associations during save of parent
I''m willing to write a patch for this issue: https://github.com/rails/rails/issues/8893 But want to confirm that the new behavior makes sense before I make the effort. Essentially if you have an unsaved parent and child, and the parent''s association to the child has an inverse_of declared on it. When the parent gets saved, it updates the foreign key on the child, and this

Any pioneers who've configured passenger to support some apps running in 1.8.x others in 1.9?
Passenger configuration selects which ruby executable to use via a global configuration variable (at least for Apache, I assume it''s the same for Nginx). I''m in a situation where I''ve got at least one rails app I''d like to run on 1.9 while others remain on 1.8. This is for my development machine running OS X 10.6. Normally I just use the Passenger PrefPane,

inverse_of not supported in Rails 3 for has_many?
I was looking through the association classes in the rails 3 source and noticed that we aren''t supporting bi-directional associations with has_many and belongs_to: # NOTE - for now, we''re only supporting inverse setting from belongs_to back onto # has_one associations. def we_can_set_the_inverse_on_this?(record) @reflection.has_inverse?

[Rails 3.2] accepts_nested_attributes_for and time_select
Hi, I am upgrading a Rails application from Rails 3.1.11 to 3.2.12, but have a problem with ` accepts_nested_attributes_for` in conjunction with multipart attributes. The app is used to manage oral exams, so there is a model `Exam`, which has many `Examdate`s. When creating an exam, I can also create the examdates, consisting of a date, a start time and an end time. While the date field is

accepts_nested_attributes_for vs. multiple controllers on one page
Hi, I''d like to render the results from show, create, edit and delete actions for several different models (one controller per model) on one page. While these several models are conceptually related, they do not need to be associated with each other. So, I''d rather not impose associations on them just to use accepts_nested_attributes_for to facilitate their presentation in a

I want to be able to create one menu object that has fields_for :brunch, :lunch, and :dinner. The menu object has_many brunches, lunches, and dinners, but each time I "edit", only one brunch, one lunch, and one dinner object are added. accepts_nested_attributes_for and has_one
Hi all, I''m seeing some unexpected behaviour in a nested model and I''m not sure if it''s a bug or if I''m doing something wrong. When assigning nested attributes, the associated object gets replaced with a new record. Example code: class Car < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :driver end class Car < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :driver end
