How does 37signals code their "Open Bar" (Open ID) feature?
See here:
http://www.37signals.com/openbar
Say you have two applications:
1) Basecamp
2) Highrise
How would Highrise know that the user (with the same OpenID credentials)
exists on another application (Basecamp)?
Is there something involved for that to happen? Are they using
ActiveResource to fetch the external user table, and then searching for
that OpenID?

ActiveResource:: HttpMock
I''m trying to set up testing on my ActiveResource project. The
HttpMock appears to be what I want, but whenever I use the code in the
"documentation", I get the error
NameError: uninitialized constant ActiveResource::HttpMock
Is there something I need to do to enable HttpMock testing?
Thanks,
Tom

Include ActiveResource
Hello,
I want to give ActiveResource a spin.
I have all the code checked out from SVN in vendor/rails (yes, including
ActiveResource).
I''m trying to make sure it gets loaded.
I did this in environment.rb:
config.load_paths += %W( #{RAILS_ROOT}/vendor/rails/activeresource/lib )
Unfortunately I still can''t use it. I have an ActiveResource derived model,

does activeresource only work with edge?
hey all,
I''ve just installed the activeresource gem and it wasn''t working, so I
did gem update rails and it worked. But now I have rails-1.2.3.6906
and I think this is edge right? Is there a way to work on regular
rails 1.2.3 with activeresource?
thanx in advance
Pat

Mocking ActiveResource
I want to use ActiveResource in my app. Instead of hitting server
though, I want it to load from a file when I call find. Any clue how
I do that?

ActiveResource and InvalidAuthenticityToken exception
Hi,
I have a Rails 2.1.1 web app, and a Rails 2.1.1 app acting as a client
by using ActiveResource.
From the client, I can find, create, and update resources owned by the
web app.
However, I can not delete any. Calling the .destroy method in
ActiveResource generates a 422 from the web app.
Not sure why this would be the case, since I thought
protect_from_forgery only protects HTML and JS

ActiveResource, find(1) works but no find(:all)
Hi,
I''m on edge and Fuser.find(1) works but Fuser.find(:all) shows the error
[1]. Fuser is declared here [2]. Do you know what''s happening? Thanks.

Uninitialized constant w/ ActiveResource
Howdy,
I had an application perfect for ActiveResource, which I do realize is not
finished.
Anyway, I froze my app to edge and then defined a class:
class Address < ActiveResource::Base
self.site = "http://ws.geonames.org/findNearestAddress?lat=:lat&lng=:long"
End
I tried to use it from the console but I get the trace below.
It appears it can''t

Can we use ActiveResource yet?
I need to split some information up between two servers, and wanted to
use REST for it. I can write the REST server really easily...but I
don''t know how I can actually use it. I downloaded Rails trunk to
mess with ActiveResource, but it seems that it doesn''t have create
functionality enabled yet.
Is it possible to use AR fully? If not, what''s the best way to
consume

What's the simplest way to use ActiveResource in ruby (without rails)?
I would like to use this class in a standalone project, but I have
been unsuccessful thus far.
Also, how does this class exactly communicate with the web server?
Thank you.
class Person < ActiveResource::Base
self.site = "http://localhost:3000/"

ActiveResource Mock Objects
Some of my tests use ActiveResource HttpMock requests and some of them
do not. Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the HttpMocks
after they have already been loaded? The method
ActiveResource::HttpMock.reset! only removes all the objects, but
ActiveResource still thinks it should look for mock requests rather
than actually making requests. I hope this makes sense!
Thanks,
Tom

Missing Content-Length header breaks ActiveResource 3.1 on create
Hi,
I''ve recently moved a 3.0 app ta 3.1 and am finding that
ActiveResource breaks after a successful post because we now check for
the presence of the Content-Length header[1] after a successful create
(basically whenever the API returns a 201). The API is also on 3.1,
and this only happens on staging/pre-prod/prod.
I''m still investigating, but one thing that is clear is that

Edge Rails required for ActiveResource
Just wanted to make sure I''m not missing anything here... I''m trying
to use ActiveResource and I was trying to avoid using Edge Rails.
However, since ActiveResource depends on the edge version of
activesupport, I appear to be stuck going edge... have flailed around
for a while trying to get ActiveResource to work with 1.2.3 but it
just ain''t happening. Am I right? Gotta

ActiveResource timeout not functioning?
I''m trying to contact a REST API using ActiveResource on Rails 2.3.2.
I''m attempting to use the timeout functionality so that if the resource
I''m contacting is down I can fail quickly - I''m doing this with the
following:
class WorkspaceResource < ActiveResource::Base
self.timeout = 5

ActiveResource / Creating an API
Hi,
I am currently looking at creating an api for a new RESTful app built
using rails 2.0. The two solutions I have come across seems to be
ActiveResource and ActionWebServices.
Although there seems to be plenty of documentation for the older
ActionWebServices (both online and in books), this does not seem to be
the case for ActiveResource.
Does anyone know of any decent articles / screencasts

ActiveResource sample code?
I''d like to play around a bit with ActiveResource for consuming a web
service. Does anyone have sample code they would be willing to share?
I''ve googled all around and have come up empty except for simple (non-
working) examples given in the RailsConf keynote and some associated
blog entries.
Thanks!

Hi,
I see that
Person.find(:all) and Person.find(:all, :params => {id => ''2''}) returns
all records irrespective of conditions. Is activeresource broken?
PS: Im using rails 3.2.4

Headers in ActiveResource
I am creating a rails app that is a gui wraping a restful web service
that uses a websso for authentication. This websso sets a series of
headers that I need to pass from the request to the
ActiveResource.find methods. As this is stuff like username etc it is
going to be different for each request. I can find examples on how to
set headers for all requests not just one.
Does anyone know of a way

ActiveResource find method and restful controllers.
Hi,
What''s the best way to add support for the activeresource find method
in the controllers in my rails app?
As I understand it when you invoke something like:
Person.find(:all, :params => {:name = ''toby''})
this generates a request of:
GET /people.xml?name=toby
Does this mean that in my index method in PeopleController in my rails
app I have params[name] set to
