Hey Folks,
after following the instructions for tweaking Typo to use rather ferret
than DB queries to search article I got a strange NoMethod error when
starting the console or the server scripts.
/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-1.14.4/lib/active_record/base.rb:1129:in

[WARN] Got 99% CPU?
Hey folks,
I ran into a few people at RubyConf who were having 99% CPU issues. Please contact me if you meet the following criteria:
1. You are running a production site.
2. You are experiencing 99% CPU errors.
3. This is frequent enough that you cannot manage it.
Thank you. Please contact me off-list about it.

sharing my netvibes tab about rspec
Link was 404 :-(
the correct link is
http://21croissants.blogspot.com/2007/06/rspec-changes-log-rss.html
I should definitely switch from blogger to mephisto ...
Hi,
As I am not a big fan of mailing list, I have created a Yahoo!Pipes to
generate a RSS from the user & developpers mailing list and integrated it
into a netvibes tab. I have also put a few blogs from the rspec authors.

R RSS feed
I was trying to subscribe to an RSS feed from
<http://developer.r-project.org/RSSfeeds.html> but IE chokes on DTDs and
Firefox also has trouble with this feed. (I'm not sure if it has trouble
with DTDs in general.)
I went to one of our web developers to see what I should use to read the
feed, and he pointed out that the mix of RSS 2.00 and rss-0.91 looks
like a mistake:

Moving page_cache_directory
Howdy. I''m working on a RoR CMS and need cached pages to all be in
public/cache rather than public [in order to set svn:ignore on all the files
properly]. I can get page_cache_directory set correctly and the pages are
cached in the right place but Mongrel isn''t serving them because it''s only
looking for them in public. During development I know I can set -r

Podcast API?
Hi,
I''m looking into developing an API for publishing videso/audio/etc to
iTunes using Rails. Has anyone done anything like this? or can point
me in the right direction? The web doesn''t seem to have anything on
it, regarding Rails or other technologies.
Thanks

Mongrel with mephisto on a Virtual Private Server
Hello everyone,
I am trying to setup Mongrel to work with Apache on a VPS as part of a mephisto installation. Has anyone done this, and if so how did you edit your conf file to make it work?
I used the info found on the mongrel site at:
http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/docs/apache.html<http://mongrel.rubyforge.org/docs/apache.html>
and one time I did get a mephisto splash screen, but it was

[OT] I Finally Got an Atom Feed
Hi folks,
I took a break from Mongrel today and instead whipped up an Atom feed generator for my site. People who love or utterly hate my essays will lover or utterly hate to subscribe to it.

Let me know if it isn''t working well in your favorite feed reader.

I''m happy to announce that I''ve completed the first version of my

XCP - migration from xend
Hello there,
I have some issues regarding xend domU migration to XCP VM.
I try to migrate my old xend domU''s to my xen Could using the xva.py
script. All seems to work quite ok, the migration process doesn''t throw
any errors, i get a .xva file with a proper Size.
When importing that file, immidiately the VG and LV is created, and VM
properties are assigned correctly. But when

Parsing multiple RSS & Atom feed formats
I''m working on a RSS aggregator, and I''ve based the parser on a script
from this post;
http://www.superwick.com/archives/2007/06/09/rss-feed-parsing-in-ruby-on-rails/
But, being the complete newbie, I''ve found that this parser only works
for specifically formatted feeds. For example, some feeds will throw a
''nil text'' error. I know that I could make

respond_to and Accept headers
After reading:
<http://www.loudthinking.com/arc/000572.html>
I''m trying to experiment with respond_to in order to not repeat myself
and create atom feeds out of a "browse" view.
In application controller I created a before filter that checks for the
extension of the current url and changes the accept header:
[code]
def check_headers

Page caching feeds and cache file extensions
I have a feeds controller which generates RSS and Atom pages. I put
''caches_page :show'' in it. The problem is that the pages are saved with
an html extension. As a result, browsers display the cached feeds as
HTML rather than XML, and feed validators complain.
There''s an option to set ''Base.page_cache_extension'' globally, but I

new to rails... suitable for what I wanna do?
Hi,
I have created and now maintain the website ratsdeville.com (http://
ratsdeville.com/index_e.html for english) for my brother. He creates
more and more content for it each week and I''m seriously feeling the
pain now archiving everything manually and making sure that links
works once items are archived (which I lost control of).
Like you can see, it is basically a news site about art

Apache+mod_proxy_balancer+Mongrel+Mephisto, Apache kills CPU
Our Mephisto install kills Mongrels and causes Apache to pound the
CPU. This started when we moved to Apache+mod_proxy_balancer+Mongrel.
Here''s what we know:
The following things are working OK, except when used in the
combination listed above: mongrel, mongrel_rails, MySQL, Apache,
mod_proxy_balancer. We believe these are all OK because we moved five

I'm trying to use the XML package to read an RSS feed. To get
started, I was trying to use this post as an example:

I can replicate the beginning section of the post, but when I try to
use another RSS feed I have an issue. The RSS feed I would like to

I know that I''m doing something wrong, but I can''t figure out what.
I''ve looked at every wiki and tutorial I can find on feedtools but I
still can''t get my rss feed working. Here''s my code.
