Re: Ajax.Request question with JSON return
Do I need something like this: eval(''('' + this.header(''X-JSON'') + '')'') (taken from Cody Swann, http://ajaxian.com/archives/prototype-extension-dynamic-script-pattern-support ). I''m guessing my problem is simpler, and I''m leaving something small out related to the header though. Thanks for any help -Mark 1. evalJSON:

dragdrop.js problems - workaround here
Hello, I am not sure how many people are using the shiny new tree version of dragdrop.js - well it seems that someone arbitrarily changed part of my implementation and has broken the functionality with rails: 864 serialize: function(element) { 865 element = $(element); 866 var options = Object.extend(Sortable.options(element), arguments[1] || {}); 867 var name =

prototype's toQueryString() weird behavior in IE?
Hi all, situation: uploader + form with a "title", a "description" and a "tags" field. Using prototype I encode those (among other values) to a querystring. In the case a field is left empty, i want the querystring to look like this: &title=&message= ...etc. No problem in FF (pc/mac) but when i submit the empty values to IE, they are returned as

Double URL Encoding of multiple selects (or any array in toQueryParams)
Hello, It seems that if you call form.serialize on a multiple select, and it double url encodes the values... culprit seems to be (v.1.5.0) line 649/650. It calls encodeURIComponent twice. -jeff --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Spinoffs" group. Do child elements all need ids? Here''s the code from dragdrop.js where the error is being thrown ( a few lines from the bottom of the file, line 501--HEAD version) serialize:

Logging to the server
I could never get the hang of logging to an area on the current page. Also, there are cases where I want to keep track of logged information. Fortunately, there''s a surprisingly simple alternative: logging to the server. Below is my first stab using prototype.js (of course) and Rails. [PATCH server] Update app to work with rails 2.3.2
Note that this does not fix gettext for app, that will be done separately in another patch as F10/F11 require different setups for that. In the meantime gettext works if manually changed in environment.rb to gettext_rails instead of gettext/rails Signed-off-by: Jason Guiditta <jason.guiditt at gmail.com> --- src/app/controllers/application.rb | 200 --------

Problem with toQueryParams()
I''m sure this has been covered before, but here goes... Anybody noticing some odd behavior with submitting forms through Ajax.Request? I thought at first it was a problem with Form.serialize, but was able to trace it back to line #975 (in prototype 1.5.1_rc2) which calls "toQueryParams" on the parameters that are passed into the new Ajax object if it is a string. This is the

Autocompleter Request depends on other field

Is there a "built in" way to have the Autocompleter's Ajax Request pass the value in the "username" field ? (I tried adding "parameters: $F('username')" to the Autocompleter's options, but, that grabs the initial username
