Ajax.Request: onFailure vs. onException
Hello All, I''m trying to capture the exception message that my server application is providing in response to my Ajax.Request. However, I''m confused as to when onFailure is fired vs. onException. The onException handler has access to the javascript exception object and I''d understood that it was only called when the dispatch fails. Not sure what exactly that means

AJAX Exception just started with Safari and Firefox on OS X, no problem on other machines
Hello all, I have been developing some ajax stuff all week. Just this morning the ajax calls quit working in Safari, and Firefox. I backed out to a last known working state and they still were not working, so I added some handlers to see if I could sniff out the problem. ... onException: function(transport){$ ("serversaid").innerHTML=transport.toJSONString();}, onFailure:

Not really an R question but I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm having problems with the R help page "The R language" and Mozilla 1.3 with the Java 2 runtime environment 1.4.1_02 under Windows XP. The problems occur on the "Search Engine & Keywords" page. Prototype Popup Error
I am using the prototype ''new Ajax.Request'' object for a simple data retrieval operation. Works fine. To tell the user what is going on (the retrieval takes a second or 2), i stuck a simple window popup (that says ''wait..'') right before the request and then just closed it when the request completes. I have tried a few different ways to generate the popup - 1

Problems with Element.extend() on responseXML elements with IE
I have the following code in the "onSuccess" function of an Ajax.Request() call. The content type of the response message is "text/ xml". function interactionSuccess(request) { var root = $(request.responseXML.documentElement); ... So more or less I extend the root element of my XML response. This call triggers the onException callback. The exception is a

Catching Ajax Failures (not 500s)
I am trying to catch failed Ajax requests, but I''m talking about requests that receive no response from the server (server is down), not responses that result in a 500. The latter can be handled with the onException or onFailure callback, but I am not able to handle the former. To reproduce/test: 1) Start your server 2) Create a page that does this:

Iframe upload indicator
I''m using the iframe trick to upload files with form_tag and a target pointing to the iframe. All is working, but I would like to display an indicator of the upload. All I want to do is show a hidden animated gif via Element.show. With form_remote_tag, i could use the :loading and :complete callbacks to do an Element.show and Element.hide. How do I achieve a similar effect with form_tag?

iframe is reloading during each sortable drag/drop point
We are creating a simple widget portal for our site and trying to use Sortables. Each of our widgets is an iframe. But when you try to drag an element containing an iframe the Sortables api causes the iframe to reload at each possible drop point. This causes the ui to shutter and become unusable. I have narrowed the issue down the onEmptyHover where dropon.insertBefore is called. Is there a

Element.Fire on window.parent.document from iframe (fails in Opera)
I wanted to create an iframe that could be included on any page for uploading images, without determining the parent behaviour at all from within the iframe. The iframe include just checks if there was an image loaded, and does this to pass upload information to the parent (this only fires when an image was uploaded): $(window.parent.document).fire(''image:uploaded'',
