Special ruby language for describing sql conditions
I was brainstorming today about a smooth way to define conditions in an
sql query, when the numbers of attributes increase, so does the uglyness.
So instead of passing a hash, I thought you could specify the conditions
directly in code.
I hacked together some example code which actually turned out to work.
The result is concise and pretty beutiful.
def search(params)
Ad.find(:all) do

using conditions
Hello guys,
I''m pretty new to using AAF and am having a slight problem with using a
condition. I have the following code
@results = SupplierProduct.find_by_contents(params[:search], :conditions
=> [''area_id = ?'', @area])
and it seems the condition isn''t being applied. Does anyone have any
pointers?
Cheers,
Alastair

RJS in Internet Explorer to update a list box
Hi,
I''m trying some RJS to update a series of list boxes in which the user
selects a state, and the following list gets updated with a list of
counties, and the same for the next list of areas.
My code works perfectly (albeit a bit slow) on Firefox, but on Internet
Explorer it clears the list box (instead of filling it) and Netscape
shows all the counties cramped together on one

Ajax.Updater doesn't work with IE6 properly
My environment is Apache2+php5. The test doc is "ajaxtest.php", which
uses Ajax.Updater to load content from /test/test1/inphp.php. It works
soomthly in Firefox. But nothing can be displayed in IE6, the brower
got no response and the onComplete was not trigered. However, if I put
the two doc under the same dir, everything goes well. Or, if I replace
the inphp.php with a html doc such as

Someone know something about drag and drop in IE?

Running a script after evalScripts has completed
Hello,
(I originally posted this on the Prototype-Core group by mistake,
sorry)
I am running a request via Ajax.Updater with evalScripts = true and an
onComplete function.
I find that my onComplete function executes before the script content
has been evaluated. Looking through prototype.js (v. 1.5.1) this seems
to be caused by the scripts being executed as part of this line

onSuccess and onComplete Prototype callbacks
Hi everyone,
The onSuccess callback gets fired when HTTP status code is 200, and
onComplete gets fired AFTER onSuccess/onFailure when the browser has
finished handling the request, i.e. when the DOM is ready, right?
So my question is where to put code that MUST ONLY be executed if HTTP
status code is 200 AND Ajax.Request was called with option ''evalScripts:
true''. The code in

Two character searchs don''t work
If we try to query a field with a_a_f with two characters in it, nothing
is returned.
"Move or shake" If I do "Move shake" it works. It seems like anything
that has a two character word in it, doesn''t get returned with a_a_f.
Any help would be great!

stage left and right effects
Here are two effects (with a common base) that perform a stage
left/right effect. The effect is named after the Hanna Barbara
character Snagglepuss. :) It shakes the contents briefly and then
jets off (stage) to the left or right.
I used the Shake effect as a guide to this one. The StageBase accepts
the element and an "amount" to initially shake the element by. So in

validates_uniqueness_of: passing a method to :scope
I was wondering if anybody knows an easy way to pass a method name as
the scope option to a validates_uniqueness_of validation on a AR model?
For example, I have nested models a bit like:
class Survey
has_many :areas
end
class Area
belongs_to :survey
has_many :questions, :order => ''position''
validates_uniqueness_of :position, :scope => : survey_id
end

Additional link tag attributes with link_to_function...
Hi,
I''m having a bit of a struggle with link_to_remote. Everything works
exactly as I want it, but the problem is that I want to add another
attribute to the <a>-tag, namely class="". Long story short, I want
specific links to look differently from others, but all of them being
link_to_function. Normally, I''d do this with adding a class="foo" to

form_remote_tag and redirects
I would like to have a login box setup so that if incorrect info is
submitted, the box "shakes" via Effect.Shake.
If the correct information is submitted, I want to redirect to some other
page.
The only solution I''ve found is the following, which is pretty ugly, as it
displays the javascript I''m invoking on the page prior to the redirect.
Here is the code:

onchange="document.forms[0].submit()" - how to CANCEL
Goal: I want to auto-send a form whenever any field changes. The page
will be updated "via Ajax", so standard submission is cancelled.
Idea: Add onchange="document.forms[0].submit();" to every field
Problem: Can not cancel form submission. Browser redirects to "results"
page, which is of course JavaScript meant to dynamically update the
page.

problem with sortable lists and IE

implement some of the cool ajax functionality with Webwork.
I have been having a little trouble with the sortable element demo. I have
