Scriptaculous + Sortable: onUpdate Not Firing
Hello all,
I''m using Scriptaculous 1.6.1 on a project I''m developing. My
generated HTML (generated by PHP) looks something like this:
<ul id="admin-list">
<li id="li-13">Singletary, Bob (President/CEO)</li>
<li id="li-12">Chatman, Jim (Vice President of Finance/CFO)</li>
...

sortables and onClick events firing
I have a page that I have been tasked with adding sortable support to, and
the div elements that are being dragged have a <a href> in them with an
onClick handler that opens a new window with a preview. Is there a way to
keep that onCLick from firing when a sortable is dropped?

onHover: can u explain me this function ?
In Sortables, we have a function onHover:
onHover: function(element, dropon, overlap) {
if(overlap>0.5) {
Sortable.mark(dropon, ''before'');
if(dropon.previousSibling != element) {
var oldParentNode = element.parentNode;
element.style.visibility = "hidden"; // fix gecko rendering

Sortable > how to know wich elementID was dropped ?
Maybe a newb question, maybe not.
It''s not well documented, and I want to know how to know the id of my
newly dropped item.
The usage, would be to attach the newly dropped id to its *new* parent in
a DB.
Thanks.

RE: sortable list question
Assuming that $(ids[i]) is the hidden input field, wouldn''t the
following line need to reference it as a form element?
> $(ids[i]).innerHTML = i;
I would assume it should be (the "'''' + " makes it a string, not sure if
you can set a form element value to an int, maybe you can):
$(ids[i]).value = '''' + i;
Or maybe I''m not

Can''t seem to get the onUpdate to work in for a sortable list. I am
following the documentation and the included functional tests but
nothing is firing for me. Any idea why?

sortable scroll in div problem : dragged element doesn't follow the mouse pointer
Hello,
I''m facing a strange problem with a long list of Sortable items in a
container that has an overflow:auto.
If I drag an item from the top to the bottom, the container div is
scrolling, but there is a difference between the position of the
dragged element and the mouse pointer.
An example is better that a thousand words.
Try to drag the first item at the bottom of the

Sortable as a class?
Hi there!
My first post to this list, so first of all many thanks for the amazing
Scriptaculous library. I''m currently using it for some nice Ajax effects
in Apache Cocoon (http://cocoon.apache.org/).
I''m currently struggling with Sortable, which I would like to adapt as
the conventions used in Cocoon are different from those currently used.
Basically, I would like to send

Sortable callback, when dragging starts/stops
Hi *,
is there a callback or something else to get noticed, if the user starts
(stops) to drag an element of a sortable? I only found the onUpdate and
onChange callbacks, but they don''t give the information I need.
Thanks in advance,
Tim

scriptaculous dragdrop.js empty list problem
Hi,
I''ve just been having a look at the scriptaculous drag-n-drop library, which
looks exceedingly good. I''m running across a show-stopper here, though -
something that''s cropping up in both the online demos and my own test scripts. If
I set up two lists so that I can drag items between them, then if either list
becomes empty, I can''t drag elements back into

My try on nested sortables
Hello,
please take a look at http://test.reasonmaker.com/sort/ where I made
some hacks to allow for nested sortables. I need a hierarchical,
sortable list, so I hacked away.
It generally works quite nicely, but:
( - The code needs my debug stuff and failed attempts removed )
- The code needs to be adapted to also work with vertical sortables.
It probably breaks vertical sortables.

question about Sortables
So, is there any way to specify a sortable to only do a callback when
the dragged item is dropped? As it is, the onChange is called whenever
you move the draggable to a new element (even if you don''t drop it), but
I''d rather only call my function after they drop it to avoid unnecessary
additional server calls. It looks like Droppable supports an ''onDrop'',
but

Sortable: Ajax not firing?
Using Rails to generate a sortable list, I get the draggable/sortable page
elements, but Ajax never fires back the post-sorted list. (I''ve checked with
IE & Firefox, the "save this order to the DB" controller hasn''t been
called.)
The View:

Hello,
I''m having a problem when I set the tree option to true on Sortable.
If I set the option to false my remote call works fine, but once I set

using onchange options in forms
Hello,
I''m trying to get a select field to update a view via the ''onchange''
option. I''ve seen examples of it here in the forum where people hardcode
the forms and use javascript to trigger the change (and nearly all have
complained that it''s a hack) and I''m wondering if anyone has a more
elegant solution using the embedded ruby methods?
