innerHTML and scripts not running
Hello, I''m having an issue with getting embedded javascript code to actually run when loaded via an Ajax.Request() call and the callback function inserts the generated HTML and js code to my current page. It seems that the javascript code is not properly parsing. For example, I''m using the following function showinfo() to return some html code. function showInfo(go_url){

Multiple Ajax.Request or Ajax.Updater
I''m having a problem with multiple Ajax.Updater instances. I have five small chunks of data being loaded into my homepage, and they seem to be firing off one at a time. So the pieces load up in the order they were called. Maybe I''m being a noob, but shouldn''t all those requests just fire away and then place the content as it gets received? I was doing multiple versions,

Setting Ajax.Updater update target to alternate window?
I need to make a call to Ajax.Updater(container, url, options) where container needs to be a DOM element in another window. So assuming my form is in window "X", can I specify a DOM element in window "Y" as the update target for my AJAX call? If I can, what is the correct syntax? Thanks, Wes -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

<new Element> optimization
I have 2 problems with Prototype''s <new Element> method. 1. I have a lot of DOM elements created manualy with <new Element>. I have already about 1000 lines of code with just <new Element>. When I added it to the dome with <body.appendChild(root)> it takes a lot of time to insert. How to optimize it? May be it''s better to use simple HTML (may be with

Contribution on extending createElement
Hi all, I work a lot with scripts that modify the DOM, and I have always found quite annoying that the code would always get very verbose as soon as I wanted to create even simple structures : var my_div = document.createElement(''div''); var my_anchor = document.createElement(''a''); my_anchor.setAttribute(''href'',my_link); var my_text =

using the evalScript option on Ajax.Updater
Hi all, I''m having trouble with the evalScript option on the Ajax.Updater. I''ve removed everything except for the ajax call and a simple alert to try and debug it. It doesn''t appear that the regex is finding my JS in the response... I''m doing an update request and the response is coming back correctly to the updateConent function as this string: <script

Attaching event observers to a series of elements - best practice?
Hi all, New member here. I''ve been working with Prototype for a while, and I love it. However, there''s one thing I still can''t figure out. Let''s say I have an array of objects, representing contacts in an address book: var contacts = [ { id: 1, firstName: "Bob", lastName: "Smith" }, { id: 2, firstName: "Sue", lastName:

insert HTML <select> value into a textarea - Works in IE6, not in FireFox or Opera
I have a simple form at http://mstramba.com/fb5.html It''s just a <select> and a textarea. The idea is to be able to either type into a text area directly or choose from a list of saved words in the select box. When a new choice is made from the select, it automatically gets inserted into the text area. This code DOES work in I.E6 (on my machine (XP pro), but doesn''t

[PATCH] Allow Ajax.InPlaceCollectionEditor to load collection externally
Attached is a patch to allow Ajax.InPlaceCollectionEditor to load the collection using AJAX. It adds a new option, loadOptionsURL, which is the URL used to load the values over the interweb. It expects the server to return <option></option> values. If one of them has a selected="selected" attribute, it will probably be pre-selected. Not tested that though. Also only tested

Multiple dynamic Sortables
I''m writing an appliation that contains several dynamically created lists. I had hoped that the following method for using the Sortable library from scriptaculous would work: 1) create the list 2) create a Sortable for it 3) create another list 4) create a Sortable for it and so on. Unfortunately this doesn''t work. I can''t find any info in the documentation for

js not executed after ajax.updater -- evalScript:true not a solution
Hi. I have a <div> on a page that I replace with a new one using Ajax.Updater. Inside this newly placed div, I am using classes and behavior.js to launch various Ajax things and scriptaculous effects. None of them, however, get triggered after the update. They also fire no javascript errors or anything of the kind. I''ve seen the option evalScripts with Ajax stuff-- but

iframe ... does it have an innerHTML ?
If I dynamically create a hidden iframe, how could I add a document in a string to that element? e.g., var sDocument = ''<html><head></head><body>Hello world.</body></html>''; I''ve tried several variations of appendChild, innerHTML, document.innerHTML, createTextNode. Argh! _______________________________________________
