Coding in python using shout-python bindings
Hello, I'm creating a module written in python that brings an easy to implement interface for the libshout lib, mainly to provide streaming capabilities to a gnome player called Exaile (http://www.exaile.org). The module is almost done (already available at http://devpower.blogsite.org:8080/archivos/icastplugin.py) but I'm encountering some problems (I believe sync problems):

Trouble with rendering partials
This only works when the partial name matches the object name; if I change "threadtop" to "thread" then it works fine. Is this normal? I get the following error otherwise: "undefined local variable or method `thread''" index.rhtml --- <% for @thread in @threads %> <%= render :partial => ''threadtop'', :object => @thread

CentOS 6 and screenshot of website
Hi, How one is supposed to do screenshots of a website with CentOS 6? The usual and normal ways I know doing it is: http://www.coderholic.com/pywebshot-generate-website-thumbnails-using-python/ https://github.com/AdamN/python-webkit2png/ But then from some reason RedHat doesn't support them: gnome-python2-extras: * Thu Jul 15 2010 Christopher Aillon <caillon at redhat.com> -

Coding in python using shout-python bindings
Just a thought: I don't know the python API, but it reminds me of a common "bug"/strange behaviour in other languages (eg PHP): often this happens because one call to "f.read(4096)" is not enough to get the full message. And if I recall exactly, it's no use to increase from 4096 to 8192 or more : it's because the f.read method is async, i.e. one call may not

cuesheets w/ PERFORMER & TITLE track info
Hi there, is there any specific reason for ignoring TITLE and PERFORMER info when importing CD-TEXT cuesheets into flac files? (These two fields have not always been used but they have become widely supported by now). One may answer that the preferred method for getting this kind of info for a cuesheet-flac would be CDDB, but CDDB info is not always reliable. In my opinion the goal "Now a CD

My vision of how the players should work is this: - make one album.flac with CUESHEET - player loads album.flac, sees CUESHEET, calculates CDDB id (or CDindex, or custom

backing up comments
All this talk about vorbis comments has made me think. Would it be possible to create backups of the Vorbis comments for my vorbis collection (currently about 1850 files) ? Instead of having to make sure I enter the correct details into CDex (saving in to cdplayer.ini & backing up that), or if I have comments in the Vorbis files that aren't stored in cdplayer.ini, such as the tags

FLAC CD Archive
I see that this was the right place to fire off this question. Thanks for your feedback. It has given me a base to start some trials. I used to use EAC on Windows, but I tend to only use open source software as much as possible and I don't use Windows any more. I gave a brief look at abcde, but it is clear I need to look at this some more. It looks like it has the potential to do everything I

FLAC CD Archive
I have read some posts about using FLAC to archive CD collections and would like to get some feedback. I am torn between creating a bin and cue file with CDDB info and compressing that down with FLAC as a single file or the second method of ripping all the files out to wav and converting to FLAC and maybe saving the cue file in attempt to use it later. The first method I believe will pretty much

ID3-style information
I have a CD collection of about 20 discs that I currently archive on my hard disk in MP3 format. No, I do not like lossy compression. No, I do not like closed standards. No, I do not like software patents (Fraunhofer). In fact, I do not even need compression at this point, as my hard disk capacity is greater than the sum total of the CDs' WAV-format sizes. However, I need its ID3

album portion of the tags request
I wanted to post publicly my problem with Jonathan's proposed album requirements. Although I do apologize, since this thread is too big already. The idea that as a requirement one should be able to identify the exact CD a track was ripped from is not a valid requirement in my book (not for the tags at least), and I hope I can explain why. Without knowing the exact way Jonathan wishes to

k3b -> cddb doesn't work
Copying a CD with k3b is no problem, except I want to include on my copy the cbbd data (from freedb.org). I've configured k3b's cddb section according to instructions at <http://www.freedb.org/en/faq.3.html#15> and read every article google could find about "k3b cddb freedb.org config", but still k3b can't manage it. Grip handles getting the cddb data just fine.
