CentOS5 running very slowly on a core 2 duo with 4 GB RAM
Hi, I've installed CentOS5.2 on an INTEL Core 2 Duo (Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz), 4 GB RAM (MemTotal: 4072176 kB) and my system gets sevarel minutes to startup, specially on udev daemon. Once the system is UP, every command I run gets 100% CPU and every is very slowly at the point yum -y update never ends. The system installed by default this kernel 2.6.18-53.el5PAE.

how to enable VT
Hi, I have a Dell opt 755 machine and installed Xen 3.3.1. The CPU is core 2 due E6550, which as the vmx flag. However, when I reboot the machine to xen 3.3.1. I can not find vmx in the /proc/cpuinfo. But vms appears in the kernel 2.6.29 (not xen kernel). Can anyone help on how to enable vt in this machine? Thanks. Sharing network namespace between containers
Hello Based on the lxc driver documentation, I am trying to create an xml to share an existing network namespace with another container. I am running libvirt 1.2.15. Here is the xml: <domain type='lxc' xmlns:lxc='http://libvirt.org/schemas/domain/lxc/1.0'> <name>nt</name> <uuid>43c00192-e114-4e29-8ce7-4b5487f60a75</uuid> <memory

presentation at kvm forum and pagefaults
Regarding the presentation I gave at the kvm forum on pagefaults. Two points: 1. pagefaults are important not just for migration. They are important for performance features such as autonuma and huge pages, since this relies on moving pages around. Migration can maybe be solved by switch to software but this is not a good solution for numa and thp since at a given time some page is likely

Re: NUMA issues on virtualized hosts
Hello, ok, I found that cpu pinning was wrong, so I corrected it to be 1:1. The issue with iozone remains the same. The spec is running, however, it runs slower than 1-NUMA case. The corrected XML looks like follows: <cpu mode='host-passthrough'><topology sockets='8' cores='4' threads='1'/><numa><cell cpus='0-3'
