I did specify domain out of frustration I think. More test as per your inputs: (net ads join fails)

Joining Linux Domain Member to Samba DC, issues
I've successfully joined two Linux Domain Members to two different Domains. Now,
I'm joining a second Linux host as a Domain Member to a Samba4 (4.18.9) Domain.
I'm having some possible issues this time.

Samba4 - Corrupted group caused stop of replication - "Object class violation"
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your reply.
We tried successfully the
--full-sync option from first to second DC. Unfortunately, afterwards
the second DC was still in a corrupted state. The "Deleted Objects"
still contained the ugly groups with the missing attribute...
So we
achieved to get a successfull replication after editing the "deleted
objects" with ldbedit. We have deleted

samba4.1 as domain member in a domain I don't be admin
Hi,
I bet this question was asked several times, but I'm honestly not able
to find a solution.
My samba4.1 (running on FreeBSD10) is part of a larger network/AD where
I only have very restricted rights.
Our network consists of a "toplevel" AD-Domain (top.foo.bar) and several
"subdomains" (in my case: sub1.top.foo.bar), which have their own
domaincontrollers (MS Windows

Samba4 : Join as an AD domain member
Hi,
I'm trying to join a samba4 (4.0.5) server as a domain member in an AD (2k8
server) environment.
I used this command to compile samba4 (
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Domain_Member) :
./configure --with-ads --with-shared-modules=idmap_ad
But I get this error :
Active Directory support not available : LDAP support ist not available.

Sharing files while being member of an active directory
I've tried this guide : https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Domain_Member
Which as far as i can se is the nearest thing to an official advisory on how to join a file-sharing host to en active directory.
wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g works, but we cannot access the share from our windows clients, it prompts for passwords right away.
I can't find any clue in the log files and I'm kinda

Hello,

using samba-tool from a domain member other than the DC
Top posting.
Is this in freenas jail, perhaps?
If so, I'd take a long hard look at the underlying environment.
Semi off-topic.
FreeNAS on FreeBSD has a whole set of really weird issues, IMO.
For example; I was trying to get rsync or rdiff-backup to run [not in a jail, but just in the base context] and performance was really terrible and it would bomb for larger file syncs to a remote Linux

ERROR_DNS_UPDATE_FAILED and NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL
Okay!!! My member server ip address is 192.168.**.56 (static).
When I run your command it is reporting the ip address of 192.168.**.55
(which is my DC02 address.)
So, I need to correct this. How do I remove the 'old member server' ip
address 192.168.**.55 reference and correct to 192.168.**.56?

ERROR_DNS_UPDATE_FAILED and NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL
I have been struggling with getting a member server to join my domain.
Thanks to testing and using a VM, I can get the test member server to
join my domain. The member server on "real hardware" cannot join, well
sort of.
When I "join", I get:
net ads join -U Administrator
Enter Administrator's password:
Using short domain name -- DTS***M
