problem with home share permissions
Hi,
I tried to set up home share as described in
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_a_home_share
( centos 6.5 samba 4.1.7 )
with rsat tool
but
user1 can read and write on user2 folder and vice versa
I think the problem is that the new users folders are created
with rwx permissions for group users
but I do not know how to avoid this.
Thank you

Samba 4 Kerberos: Failed to decrypt PA-DATA
Hi everyone
After almost 2 days up-time with Samba 4, it failed again. This time it
simply will not restart.
The krb5.conf had got corrupted. I replaced it with this one from
/usr/local/samba/private
/etc/krb5.conf
[libdefaults]
default_realm = HH3.SITE
dns_lookup_realm = false
dns_lookup_kdc = true
It starts up OK:

Samba 4: Workstations unable to join, "The specified network name is no longer available"
Hi,
first of all, sorry for my poor english.
I have installed Samba4 (stable tarball) on a fresh Centos 6.3 x64 server,
with the "classicupgrade" command.
With great difficulty I managed to correctly configure the DNS server
(bind).
"kinit", "smbclient" and "samba_dnsupdate - verbose - all-names" give the
desired output.
Starting samba daemon, this is the

Samba 4, dynamic DNS, Kerberos
Dynamic DNS updating is failing (which is bizarre, because I could have
sworn I'd had it working before). Help?
Setup: Samba 4 DC running bind 9.9.2, Samba 3.6.3 member
The output of "net -d10 ads join" is attached, compressed.
Interesting portions of named.conf:

Samba 4 dnsupdate problem
Hi all,
I have started to test Samba4 in my network. I have been running samba
since 1993 in many organisations, and now I would like to upgrade my
samba3 server in my lab to samba4.
I pulled the sources from git and compiled on my CentOS 6.3 x86_64 server.
Provisioning works fine, and I'm using the internal DNS server for this
configuration. But it looks like there is a failure to create

Hi
I am testing the possibility of migrating from nfs to cifs to serve our
Linux clients.
Currently we mount the samba shares, e.g. the home directory, using nfs.
The test setup is that instead of:
mount -t nfs hh1:/home2 /home2 -osec=rw,krb5
I changed to:
mount -t cifs

User's DPAPI/backupkey protected data lost when changing domain password
After a user changes their password (CTRL-ALT-DEL) in our Samba 4 domain
(4.1.12) they lose access to any stored passwords on their Windows PC.
I've set the log level in smb.conf to 4 and enabled the GPO to record DPAPI
log entries in Windows to get the below log data.
My reading of the two is that the Windows PC believes it is failing to reset
the access to its DPAPI store (where the saved

The RPC server is unavailable on Samba 4 clients
Hi,
I used to upgrade/migrated samba 3.3.10 to samba 3.4.17 with LDAP backend
in place, while upgrading the CentOS from 5.5 to 5.9. In place to retain
the trust relationship.
The users can able to login without re-authentication from existing
machines. Tested 3 XPs, and 3 Win7 but it takes 5-8 mins to login compared
to 1 win7 that was re-connected (disconnected from domain, restart, then

ParkandAnnounce?
In theory ParkAndAnnounce has a lot of usefulness, however, that we've had
very little success with application... Our application is similiar to
the local Walgreens pharmacy.. Dr. Calls in, selects the "Im a doctor with
a prescription option"... call is parked, and announcement overhead is
given.. "Doctor holding on ${EXTEN}"

GlusterFS, move files, Samba ACL...
[ Received no feedback, i resend it... ]
A little strange things, but i'm hitting my head on the wall...
I needed to 'enlarge' my main filesystem (XFS backed-up), that contain my
main samba share and a brick for a GFS share; i've setup a new volume (for
the VM), formatted XFS, move all the file taking care to umount and stop GFS
(so, syncing the brick, not the GFS filesystem)

Received Date vs Date Header
I am trying to figure out why my mail clients are not correctly showing
me the received date versus the date header date. I am using Dovecot
1.1B9. Here is a copy of the rawlog from Dovecot when I started up the
client. Is Dovecot supposed to be sending the received date and the
date header during this conversation?

4.0 stopped working after updating xubuntu 13.04
Hi
I got some strange issues on my samba4.0.1 install yesterday. It
happened a while after updating my xubuntu server 13.04 not 13.10.
Everything seems to be working fine except shares. Kerberos
authentication seem to function properly, also DNS works fine but shares
seem semi-broken.
I can't mount any shares on my Windows box, including netlogon,
profiles. I have one share that is

wbinfo not resolving SID to username
I suspect there's something wrong in wbinfo on a freshly installed Samba
AD Domain Controller on Ubuntu 18.04 server.
wbinfo does not resolve Windows SID to usernames:
# wbinfo -S S-1-5-21-299502267-616249376-1417001333-14107

I should see "SAMDOM\username" instead of "3000103", right?
getfacls has the same behavior:
# getfacl /var/lib/samba/sysvol
